You have really brought back memories for me. through my teens I grew up on a farm. At least 75 New Zealand Whites each year. Also a very large garden. My grandmother would come and stay with us for two weeks in the fall to make spaghetti sauce. All of the back pieces of the rabbits went into Homemade sauce and then frozen. When it was time to be eaten the sauce went into an electric frying pan starting early morning. By supper time, the meat would fall off the bone, and meat and sauce was served on spaghetti. Our family as far out as second cousins would line up for Grandma's Spaghetti Sauce. - Days gone forever - only memories left.
I just came over today to see what Mudding shirt Jacob had on today! Good choice haha
Haha! Somebody pleeease get this man a new wardrobe! 😂
Mudder Fest! Aren’t you all sponsored by Ariat lol
My husband is same 2 choices of T shirts AC/DC or BSA motorcycle he had dozens of different Ts but picks 1st one on top of the pile 😂😂😂
😆
During WW2 my aunt and uncle raised rabbits for meat and sold many. They had a large business. Great meat source.
Jacob, you are normally so serious, I totally enjoyed seeing you laugh!
You've got to make sure they realize that's $2 a pound for ORGANIC ETHICALLY RAISED MEAT. That's honestly not bad 🥰
Under $10 per rabbit. They sell for a lot more from stores and meat companies!!! But you know your meat is fresh, Humanely raised Jacob. So Kudos to you and Alex! Great Video! Except now I am hungry. Thank you for sharing!
That’s true Jeanie! Thanks for watching!
Always keep in mind that sometimes when you make a "mistake", it is not a mistake, just a learning experience on what to not do next time. Appreciate you guys always giving us the good and bad with your endeavors.
Thank you Randy! That is so true!
I needed this as we have kits being born next week!!! This things grow so quickly!
Awesome! They do grow SO fast!!
Thank you for sharing guys! Meat Rabbits will be one livestock animal we for sure want to have in the near future. Great break down for us noobs! Yall rock!
So I did some searching and what I have found is (at least in my area ) A 2.75 to 3.0 pound wabbit sells for 27.84. Breaks down to just about 9.24 per pound.
then there was this one. 3 whole cleaned rabbits total of 6 to 8 pound for 60.00. Breaks down to (I avg at 7 pounds) 8.50 per pound.
Then this crazy one out of Spain. ONE Rabbit at 2.5 to 3.0 pounds for 44.95 YES 44.95 plus shipping this is almost 15.00 per pound. YES THI IS PRE COOKED then shipped frozen BUT STILL.
I would say you did pretty good at your price range.
Dang that is pretty good
Sawyers, you two are good people. 💖💖
Thank you Kate
Thank you guys for just being you.. you guys are great and it’s so refreshing to watch great content.
Thank you Jacob and Alex for sharing your method of cutting up and storing them.
Love the bloopers at the outro.
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated, safe and warm. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.
You're a great teacher! Very detailed and informative. The new camera is very clear and sharp. Loved the bloopers! Great job at editing Alex ❤
Agreed!
I really appreciated your out take at the end!
So, in 4- h, our meat pen bunnies cannot be born before may first. Then the fair is in July. Those bunnies are expected to be 3-5 lbs at that time. That's 6-8 weeks depending on when you bread the does. 13-16 weeks is a long time to feed for profit or table.
Thank you all for posting this video!
Thinking of stewed rabbit got my mouth watering, my Grandmother from Belgium used to make it for us when she came to Canada for a visit. We used to get it from the butcher in the market but the prices climbed and it got out of reach to purchase. Enjoyed the video and the bloopers, you guys are the best.
Awesome video as always! I appreciate y'all!
I'm amazed not to see offal ... You don't eat them in the USA?
But what surprised me the most is that there is no head ... You don't cook it to eat the brains? Rabbit's brain is truly a marvel in the mouth ...
But hey, it's all about taste and culture ... A lot of things are different on either side of the ocean.
Kisses from France ♥♥♥
I really do love your channel. One of the best and most wholesome and fun contents out there
Thank you so much Elsa!
Thanks Jacob for this video. You always do a good informative video.
Great going, harvest following gardening, winter food and teaching all for us who need.
I have not heard Jacob laugh like that! It's Hilarious! 🤣🤣 Thanks for this tutorial on the rabbits. My Grandmaw and Mom used to skin , clean and cook what my Uncles killed. But I never learned. So really a big thank You. Alex, big high five for putting silly Jacob 9n display...🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm still smiling and laughing!! Big tough guy laughs like a girl! LOL, Just kidding, but it is funny. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH! 🙏🙏❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🐐🐇🐔⛵⚓
I absolutely love my food saver, it has more than paid for itself.
Well Jacob! You did a fine job butchering the rabbit. We raised them for years. When I was younger it didn't bother me to raise them and eat them but now I can't do it. Dont have a problem with anyone that does but I couldn't watch the video of you guys processing them and I never miss any of your videos. Anyway Jacob God bless you guys.
Thank you sinbad
Great video! I just started raising rabbits, glad I could find a bunch of good information!
Once again, Jacob a very informative and interesting video. You are becoming a great online educator. Take care and keep smiling .
Thank you pamela
@@SawyerRidgeFarm I just watched Jared's video..was stunned and shocked ..but also saddened that you along with Jason have had to experience the not so REAL side of Social media platforms. I am not subscribed nor have ever been ...of the channels that have been less than helpful to him. Keep up your own lovely simple and sweet way you allow us into a small part of your life.
We really love you guys . Stay out of the drama. But the Crockers really love you !!! You are the real deal . God bless you 🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😘😘
Thank you for your support Donna!
You are always great at sharing the how to. God bless and stay safe 🙏❤
Great video, as always. I love my Seal a meal. It’s definitely the best way to keeps food longer. For liquids, I put them in the freezer until they’re pretty firm then I vacuum them. I used to use the water method before I got a seal a meal for Christmas. I loved the end of your video. Laughter is very catchy. I replayed it and found myself laughing. Thanks 😊
Thank you sharon glad you enjoyed
After 8-10 weeks the feed-meat conversion slows down. Some people process fryers (softer meat) at 8 weeks; some push it out to 10 weeks. Of course there are some who prefer rabbit roasters (firmer meat), so they butcher after 12 weeks or later. Fryers vs roasters is a choice to make, just remember that roasters have a decreased average feed-meat conversion so the cost per pound will necessarily be higher.
Lots of detailed information
Good job Jacob. Very informative. Always love watching the bloopers. Real people, with real lives. So cute. Don't ever change. Note: Sometimes it's not always about the costs of something, but the preference of the taste of the food and the nutrition. Example: Chicken liver. Its very cheap in cost, but very nutritional as it has iron. Love it fried up with onions. Then I make pata out of it with hard boiled eggs. 😋 yummy. G-D Bless and Stay Safe.
What a really informative video! Great job!
What a great video! Lots of information!
I love the look of yalls kitchen and wish mine look like it.
Thank you Jacob for showing me how to process rabbit from butchering to bagging and showing the cost. God Bless

We use to eat rabbit when I was really young but I honestly don't remember. I just remember cute little white bunnies w/I can't remember if they were pink or blue eyes. So soft!!!! Thanks for showing us the process and I like that water trick w/the ziploc bag! By the way, I love that can cabinet!!!!! I've read some comments so looking forward to see you build one. What an awesome use of space and it's nice to see you are stocked pretty good too!
Rabbit is delicious and yes a build will be coming
Love your videos.
Wow great video! Thank you for the breakdown! I'm looking forward to seeing the difference between the butcher ages 👍 🤣🤣 always LOVE the bloopers!
Very informative channel. Thank you for sharing.
I think you killed it with this video. I am looking to get into meat rabbits for myself and maybe for money if it goes well. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Great video... Thank you
Great Video! Really loved the bloops and blunders! Too funny!
Jacob, you do such a great job explaining and all the important details. Definitely a very good video and I always learn something new from you guys. I appreciate everything you do....take care and God bless 💗👍😁
Thank you Mary!
Indeed
I use to raise rabbits for my little family. My husband would dispatch them and clean them, then it was up to me to quarter and package them. At that time in my life we didn't have plastic baggies. I had to use butcher paper. You don't see much butcher paper in the store these days as people mostly have the vacuum processing machines.
I also use paper to wrap larger pieces of meat for goat or lamb. I use Freezer Paper (that has a water proof coating on one side) which is different from Butcher Paper (that has no coating). So if you plan to store the meat for more than a few hours be sure to use Freezer Paper.
Thank you guys for the info🎈 Happy Halloween🎃🎈 I love yawls outtakes or bloopers whatever you wanna call them😂😂🎈
I love end..team work for the video
Knowing how it was handled and what went in it makes it worth it.
Very true Tracy!
Love the video!! 🙏🙏❤️❤️
Thanks for explaining. Enjoyed the video and the bloopers are awesome. 😂
Thank you Shannon! 😊
Gretings from NE Florida! This was a really good demo video!! Thanks!!! - Rick
Jacob made us his rabbit stew for one of our family gatherings and it was the best stew I have had. I thought I was not a fan but after my first bite it’s at the top of my list for recipes using rabbit. Hey Jacob you need to do a video on your rabbit stew !!!
He’ll have to make more for another family dinner now that we have more rabbit meat! Lol 😄
Love ❤️ what you have done with your canned foods Tell Alex she needs to vlog how it was done. Would be very much appreciated!!
Yes, we hope to do a can rotator video soon!
We raise meat rabbits as well as meat chickens...I have fixed rabbit stew, rabbit and noodles or dumplings, fried rabbit, roasted rabbit and one favorite I did was to take the whole rabbit and wrap up in bacon...pour honey over top and cook in oven covered and then remove foil and let the honey get thick...wow, it's good...IMO, the 'backstrap' is like white chicken breast...as far as texture...very good...wondering how fixing rabbits fore legs like chicken wings would be...season the same....and for the ribs, I leave the belly meat on and those (fresh) go into a freezer bag marked for broth...I keep chicken bones and rabbit bones and will make a huge pot of bone broth...then I can it...rabbit is a great meat to raise!
That was very interesting, and I learned something on packaging. I know people myself included have ask about the can cupboard that Jacob made, can u please do a video on it. LOVE the bloopers.
We are gonna build one, I want to do it out of cedar
@@SawyerRidgeFarm I hope u do video on it. Cedar is such nice wood, can't wait to c it.
Awesome, I was waiting on another Rabbit video, lets Hop right into this!!
Like I said with the chickens. I definitely couldn't do this. Great job. Learned years ago I couldn't kill something or cut something up. Couldn't shoot the deer I was looking at through the scope, just couldn't and when I cut up a chicken I said it would be the last one and it was from the store. You two do a great job in showing us what to do. Great teaching for homesteading. Just veggies for me to grow. When my dad killed our chickens and I found out they were our dinner that night. I ate a lot of mashed potatoes. I know I'm a wimp, just can't do it.
Thank you jewel for understanding
Great info! New sub. I have 1 litter 11 strong that are on grass now and in about 10 days I’ll put em all in freezer. 9 more in grow out cage that I’ll transfer to grass for their last month and repeat . Never thought about dividing them up in this way. Was gonna freeze whole rabbits
How many weeks did you do?
The vacuum sealer‘s are nice, they’re great for marinade to because it helps pull all the water out. You can vacuum it a couple times first and it will really get the marinade down inside the meat.
That’s still a pretty good price, you couldn’t buy it for that much come on if you cut six weeks off of there that would drop that per pound price quite a bit a bit.
Good Simple Living has videos on raising and processing rabbits. I think they also broke down the cost of raising them.
Watching eating dinner no problem..thank for tutorials.
Thank you
Thanks, Passed it on...
Great video. It would be awesome for Alex to share some rabbit recipes.
Great video
When we raised meat rabbits, I found that the meat was very filling. It was very tasty, even better than chicken. The only draw back was my husband lacked the heart to harvest this docile animal.
Yeah, it’s never easy for sure. I leave that job to Jacob.
😂, I wouldn't mind the process but Diane, my wife, will not let me.
My husband is same so I knew I had to do all processing of all my Rabbits and Chickens 🤷♀️ watching Jacob’s teaching helped me I just got through it and used a 22 fast and painless death
I can dress out a rabbit so fast its heart is still beating when i remove it. I grew up on a farm and from the time I can remember I knew every animal was food. The pig was named pork chops. and the milk cows bull calves where all named hamburger.
@@thecollectoronthecorner7061 we raised a steer for meat and I called him Big Mac
You forgot to add that rabbit manure is excellent for the garden and you do not need to age it.
Yes, very true. And a huge bonus!
Nice
I love that can holder thing on the side of your cabinet, I need that in my life. We have a vacuum sealer but my husband uses the ziplock bags and uses a straw to suck out the air, which is so gross 🤢 but it definitely works hahaha. My 15 year old daughter wants to get into meat rabbits so bad but my husband just put his retirement papers in from the Navy so we will be moving around April hopefully so we have to put it off.
We will do a build on the rotater
I would like to see you cooking them. Love your videos
Thank you for the water trick.
Save the bony rib cage like we do chicken necks and backs and instant pot stock in 2.5 hours. It’s really great and doesn’t heat the house.
$2.00 a pound for meat is cheap. Good job!
Thx Jacob good info 💕🙏💕
Can you please do a cooking video
czcams.com/video/20bRL4hraCs/video.html my go to recipe.
czcams.com/video/tnUr6QgnYps/video.html another great one.
I have made both and never a complaint.
And no one ever dies from eating it. KIDDING
We have a rabbit stew video that you can watch
The cost is great. Rabbit meat is hard to find in a city and ordering it online is ridiculously expensive. Plus, when I get farm raised chicken, mostly Amish farms in Missouri, the chicken is smaller than Walmart's but better quality, better tasting, and you know they are clean from unnatural junk.
You make good points here Ahmad
Great job, new sub.
Hey Jacob & Alex I saw on Pinterest that someone hung a pumpkin in their chicken coop and it look like they really liked it.
Yummy 😋!!! I love rabbit and dumplings 😊 squirrel and dumplings is good too
Well done bud. 👊🏻👍🏻
Thank ya! 👍
Good information, Jacob. I think I could cut up and eat rabbit, as it looks much like cutting up a chicken. But I don't think I could do the killing and skinning part. I understand the necessity, but they are just too doggone cute and cuddly!
Very nice my friend. We love doing our rabbit program and 4h also. Bloopers haha
I just cooked up some rabbit yummy 😋 yes belly meat fried was great, as for the cost the guy that sells them here for 15.00 it's was probably 3lbs
Would love to see Moses and newest puppy playing again ! 🎇🐾🐾
Hope to have a video of them out soon!
It would be interesting to do that breakdown if you could find someone to buy your pelts
Awesome
