Welcome to my Longest video ever showcasing how I started Osu Mania and how far I've improved. I'm still far from the best but I am satisfied with how far I've come and I hope you enjoy. I realised there are a few missedits near the end where my last clip did not have audio and I am sorry but I am literally writing this 10 minutes before I have to leave to the airport as I am flying to Malaysia as this is uploading so I hope you understand. I want to thank my community over these years for all the help and support they provided me in my time of need. Thank you all.

holy hell, u rly developed fast, i’m stuck doing 4/5 stars and my highest S rank is on a 6.16*, i never challenge myself which is my biggest problem, this is some great motivation man. This was awesome, keep up the great work
iTropicql I’m so happy this video has given you the motivation to get better. It’s the same as me, I’ve wanted to quit the game MANY times however I remember and look back on all the effort I’ve put in, and keep my head up. Wish you all the best in improving my guy :)

Im into 1 month of playing osu mania and I can handle 4-5 star songs seeing this makes me want to even push through my limits more, Thanks a lot for the motivation man! I really hope that I can have a fun and memorable journey playing osu mania, who knows I might even make a video similar to this in the future!

@@Kibitz5 stars become unfun spam nightmares. I can beat 5-6 stars but omg its so unfun. no patterns just funless spam. I just play DT 4 stars since they at least have patterns

This gives me inspiration and one of my favorite improvement montages of all time in 4k. I started an january barely passing 1.8* maps and now I passed my first 4* and Sranking and hopefully FC'ing my first 3* map.

damn man this motivated me a lot:,) i took a yr off from mania because i was so frustrated on myself, like i felt i wasnt even improving at all. ;-; im finally playing mania again and im lowkey mad that ive gotten so rusty, i felt the need to delete the game. but i miraculously come across this video in my recommends and i feel fired up to get better! >:D
OMG Thank you so much for this comment. I'm glad I helped motivate you to train and get better :). Yes, I too also am VERY rusty after coming back from a long OR short break. It can be just from 2 days of not playing or more. But keep going and you'll be able to break that skill wall :D

Hey man, this is like my third time watching this video and I just wanna say you are a really big motivation of mine. I started in around August of last year on 4k after a friend introduced me and this video is what motivated me to get actually decent at the game.
Recently I bricked the keyboard on my laptop from going too hard on 3.5+ stars and couldn't play for almost a month. I was tapping out Sasageyo on my thigh so hard it started to bruise I swear, mania addiction is crazy. I just got a new Huntsman Elite which means I have about 500 dollars of razor accessories hooked up to a laptop that runs MC at 15 fps. Living the life out here. Getting back into mania however, its been tough. I'm struggling on maps I used to FC with my eyes closed and my motivation to persevere has been tanking because of it. Watching this video and seeing you hit a multi-month skill wall and yet still becoming as good as you are is really comforting. I guess It makes this seem not totally impossible. So anyway, yeah, thanks for showing us your journey, it makes the game seem possible.
I don't even know how i got here im still on 1 to 2 stars. I was hoping that at least the first clip would be worse than me but nope. Lol
Jolene well if I did use actual footage of when I first started it would have been terrible. But the first clip was the earliest replay I could find sadly. But don’t give up :)
It took months to get to 3 star. But then my keyboard broke and I started using a controller so I went from 5 star to 2
i've played a lot of other rhythm games like osu!mania in the past so i got headstart and i could do 3-4 stars like right away

Sidek thank you so much! Haha yeah my first skin looked cleaner however the judgment line was so high and reading long notes with it was a real challenge so I switched to my current day skin :)

Don't stress out about the skill wall, as long as you keep playing you will be able to cross the wall. I believe in you !!

My first 5 star S rank was 'The Limit Does Not Exist [7k] Another'. My second 5 star S rank was 'Triumph & Regret [4k] Regret'. Of course both maps being overweighted. Lol.
I've only been playing for like 8 or so months. I can't wait to see how much I improve by the end of the year. Hopefully I can get to 4 star in 10k and to at least Regular Dan 3 (and maybe LN Dan 3) in 7 key.
Those are some pretty impressive SS's near the end of the video btw. Well played :)

I ended up hitting a skill wall and still am stuck for about 4 months now where I haven't been able to improve at all. EXCEPT for jacks I managed to get better at jacks but no matter how much I train tech, stamina, or speed skillsets I get stuck. I retry the same maps over and over. I try to find newer songs that also have those skill sets for sight reading. I can never seem to get past it. On some days I might be able to somehow beat the song but I was never actually able to read it and was more of just technical mashing to get past a specific part. I'm still stuck in the skill wall and am trying to complete maps on osu!mania but my progress is ether not there or very slow. I try setting goals and recording my runs to look back weeks later. But when I look at my progression I either go down or stay the same. I'm like rank 45k and my best map is triumph and regret which was my first 5 star map. Probably one of the easiest 5 star maps imo because its all jump trills 95% of the time. As of today I still am playing mania games. I tried a couple methods you did and will continue trying them but I'm kinda losing hope at this point haha. I've noticed ive been playing much more casually now and have just been doing 3 star maps just for fun but it isnt the same. I still really want to improve too.

I've been stuck for about3 months on 3.25-3.5 star songs on regular osu! and cannot get past them at all and my biggest problem is accuracy, getting my cursor wherever I wanted was a cinche after I got used to a pen tablet, but clicking exactly with the beat is really hard for me, and playing mania might just be what I need, thank you for this

I started playing mania today... havent beat my first map yet but im only a quarter away from completing it, osu looks like it has a very high skill cap and it peaks my interest more than any other rythm games ever have, so i think im going to enjoy my journey with osu and thanks to you i know i dont totally suck when beginning, Thank you for making this video. :)

wow this video motivatede a lot when i started 2 months ago, now i can play 4,7+ stars maps with 96-97 acc, and im actually 39000 rank, i dont have friwnds who play osu mania and i didnt even know that i had a fast improvement, i dont know how i got that good in so short time since i never played any rythm game (execpt of gd but it is a music game) I dont know if i have talent or something but i think you inspired me, thank you.

made my osu account August of this year due to selling my vr headset and couldn't play beat saber. wanted to play a rhythm game still and I stumbled upon osu. im on a really steep climb from 4-4.5 to harder songs like 5 stars. almost quit but this video shows that practice really pays off

I've been playing for 5 years (had big breaks because I didn't have any way to play the game, but sometimes I also got sick of it) and I am still stuck in 4* to 4,5* maps. I can barely S them, and I don't think I'll ever get past it, considering my scores were better 4 years ago
I play this game mostly for fun, I don't have stamina nowadays, but it's frustrating to try to get better and never see any progress

Everyone has their own interests. Speed is a big no for me. I dislike stamina draining jump streams so I practiced acc and LN. You should improve on what you prefer to play :D

anyone have advice on improving long-note accuracy? i can play pretty difficult songs with hard patterns of normal notes, but i really struggle with long notes and regular notes mixed with long notes as well.
nebulacat well first I would recommend looking at skins that benefit you with long notes. Such as bar skins make it easier to read apparently. But all I can say is to practising your release time and eye coordination :)
Oh man thats insane. I got osu a year ago maybe, and been off and on, and just today I decided to get into Mania. I'm glad I found this video for insight and inspiration for way farther down the line. Also, I'm just doing one stars and how important is it to play maps specifically modded for Mania, it seems that if i switch the mode to mania, lots of maps automatically convert I guess.

Another thing, you should play maps made for mania. Playing converted maps don’t help as they are sometimes mistimed and patterns are nonsense. Go over to the beatmap page and select the category: mania only

Hey, i saw this in my recommended homepage. This video is awesome, you could improve really good. Also i wanna flex here so lets begin.
On May 19th 2021 i started playing 4-5 star map, and that day, i passed both 4 star and 5 star, somehow. Probably because I'm a RoBeats player and that day i grinded like around 700pp. Also, please play RoBeats and get some 200 gear power, then join someone in game with 500 gear power on hard song like difficulty 32-35 lol im sure u could beat him ; ) btw i played osu mania since January 2021 and yea thats it thanks for reading my long comment ahahah
holy shit man, i started in 2017 too and A/S some 5+ star maps after 1-2 months (thanks to other rhythm games not very similar to mania). however, my skill wall took a big hit within only the third month and i started neglecting the game from 2018-2020, only getting back into it recently the past week.
your progress from starting off to SS-ing (not just an A...wow) a 6*+ is INSANE, no matter how long it took. i’d like to ask, what other advice/tips do you have to improve in general (maybe for LN coordination too) besides grinding? because i’ve an odd problem where my left hand’s coordination is much worse and slower than my right, having been this way since the start. thanks in advance man you’re a great player!
I've been starting to not have fun playing standard anymore, so I'm experimenting a bit with mania (even recorded my first plays just in case I become a god at it and decide to do a video like yours xd), lets see if I can develop some skill on it.

I started playing osu mania a little under a week ago and im stuck on 2* maps, sometimes my eyes can't even comprehend what I'm looking at when I watch other people's gameplay
meanwhile i just started the game a few days ago... barely doing 1.5 star maps... that first clip had me like "wow!"
Haha that first clip was like 1 month into mania cuz I couldn’t find my earliest replays when I first started. So yeah don’t worry about it, you’ll improve over time :D

I have the same problem as you But I decided to leave this game for 3 or 4 months. When I returned ... Boom, I improved rapidly.
Moya The cause of that sudden improvement might have been because you got motivated to play again meaning that you try harder and get the scores you like. Keep going and stay motivated :)

I think I've been playing for a year already and still I can't move up to the "next level" just like what you did. I'm stuck at having S ranks in 2.5 and some 3 star maps with an average of 95% accu from my plays. Then I can often get A's in some 3 to 3.5 star maps with 90-92% accu hahaha those are all only from 4k. I also tried playing 5k but those plays are again only at 2 stars haha😅
I'm using the Clean Skin because it placed the whole "note-falling stage" at the middle. For my key bindings, 1 and 2 from the upper left then / and * from the upper right of my keyboard and yes, I think they are wayyy too far from each other hahaha I'm playing on a laptop and I found that setup were more comfortable for the placement of my hands and arms. Again, because I'm playing on a laptop, I think I'm holding back from tapping so hard to my keys which sometimes the reason for me to miss a note haha (whenever I play, it keeps bugging me that I might destroy my keyboard if I tap too much haha) and got no budget to buy a dedicated keyboard tho haha🤣
And yaaapps, again you're so cool and great! Btw, how do you look through the notes? Do you follow looking them going down? Or you're fixing at a point (maybe) like they're on your 'peripheral vision'? 😁

Playing on laptop is very difficult especially going for acc so I recommend switching to PC as it will improve you.
You can edit any skin by searching “skin” in osu options then clicking on “open current skin folder” it should bring you to the current skin ur using’s game files. Then search for the skin.ini file and open with notepad. Search for column start and change it to 250 or what you like.
I went through the most common keybinds such as QWOP, ASKL,ZX,. And I find AS:; to be most comfortable for me at the moment.

I started playing FFR about 2-ish years ago, then I took a long break from it. Then recently I decided to start osu mania about a month ago and I'm regaining my skills :D I can S most 4.8 to 5.2 stars. But I suck at tech maps and long notes :P I hope to improve on them this video inspiring me

Dude i love seeing that with practice everything is possible. I currently can S rank 3,5* maps quite easily but i want to at least have an A rank on blue zenith (I have 89,99% on that one cuz i am dumbass lmao)
Let's see in like a month if i can do 4,5* maps (in just a week or so i improved quite a bit, from 2,3* to 3,51* [got *A* on some 4* maps) , so that encourages me to keep playing even more :^)

hey another malaysian player :o, skill walls of normally 5* and above is hard to overcome but you will get over it eventually. Becoming #1 in Malaysia is impossible as long as Cheewee's account is still alive LUL. Thanks for the comment and for liking the video! :D

@@Kibitz can u share some of that knowledge, been playing quaver got introduced to fnf and eventually moved to osu and I have over all a year sunk on it but being fair i feel like half the time i spent meant nothing, considering fnf barely taught me anything so I eventually moved on to osu and ditched quaver, tried other games like etterna and ffr. Currently 5 star is my current level but i struggle with some 5* and some 5* that are above 5.65* range. Whats a good way to improve efficiently, with the 3 to 4 hrs i sunk into the game daily
Very interesting you switched to a membrane I also find that tactile boards help my accuracy but I am just not as fast but on hyper X aquas I can be fast and the acc is good

イレ ahaha your reference is amazing but as you said improvement comes with time and dedication. Which at the time I was play up to 3 hours EVERYDAY for about 2.5 years then I started slowing down to about 1-2 hours a day. That’s how I’ve gotten this far. I’m still terrible at stamina and speed maps which people who’ve played less than 2 years can beat me at. So I’m nowhere near the top atm
イレ yeah I get tilted in apex and valorant cuz I’m competitive but I don’t really get mad when I miss in mania (unless it’s an SS or FC choke at the very end) but other than that I’m fine. Std makes me tilted tho cuz I only want S ranks haha
Hi! I've been playing mania for almost about a year now and I need some help with reading 4* maps.
Most of the time whenever I play I always get overwhelmed by the amounts of notes. There are just too many notes coming at the same time making my eyes not able to read all of them.
I tried to change where I look at the note from (the bottom to the middle) and it helped with keeping my combo high but now my eyes feel extremely tried from doing that.
So should I keep practising looking at the middle so that my eyes can get used to it or should I stop and go back looking at the bottom?

Pal :I Hi, sorry for the late reply but I totally understand what you’re saying. If your accuracy is lacking once switching to middle then you should play easy 2-3 star accuracy maps first to get used to your timing. After fixing your accuracy you will be able to combo with decent accuracy on 4 stars. Just takes a lot of time.

before i used to do 2 hours a day at least. Now I have dropped to around maybe 1 hour or less a day. And thank you for your support! :)

There’s your problem. You’re playing on and off. I played at least 2 hours a day consistently for about 2.5 years (excluding exam days etc)
I play standard since a month and I’m better then most players that play for a year, I also play like 6h a day

Hiroto Art it depends on how hard the maps you playing are. I recommend playing harder maps if you want to get better

I currently use the Ducky Shine 7 with Cherry MX Red Switches. I recommend choosing between Red or Brown switches. Anything else is not good :)

Shiba yeah most people hit that skill wall around that difficulty. Playing fast maps and getting used to them is the only method to learn it sadly. Good luck :)

ziro that’s insanely good progress, however everyone hits a skill wall at some point. Don’t feel discomforted when you do. Keep playing and improvement will come again and again :)

3 months in mania, 39 hours playing. My best performance in a map has 118 pp. Still playing in my laptop. Currently working with the 4 stars maps.

i started playing mania not too long ago since i couldnt improve at all on standard, then moved to etterna the next day, which has a different difficulty ranking but ill try my best to guess equivalents
mainly couldnt improve due to the carpal tunnel standard was causing, mainly due to my chair and the gamemode not being too kind to my wrist
started out playing the equivalent of 3* on etterna, and now im at around 4.9* i think
its been about two to three weeks since i started
also i kinda cant stand osu hitsounds when doing mania, which is mainly why i switched to etterna
im improving faster than expected at least, i got a good speed and stream skill going, just gotta work on technical and handstream

I feel going through wrist pain and carpool tunnel is typical for most osu players but I’m sorry to hear that.
There is an option to turn off hitsounds by muting the effects volume in game. But etterna is a pretty good game to practise and improve. It just looks a little too “old” for me.

I'm stuck on 4* but is the best way to get to 5 is to play more 4*? Like 4.75-4.99? I usually lose motivation and just give up or play stars that's too easy for me. Playing high 4*s consistently will help or no?

I've been playing since april everyday until now, and at the start of playing osu! I played on multi alot, and found some friends that help me set up how to play the game, and i could easily fc 3* map within 1 month of playing, and i started farming :' bcs my rank and my friend rank quite huge gap, and i'am bit surprised that i could do well with 4* farming map and 5* farming map, and finally i could pass my friend rank, and now i hit a skill wall :'. I can do well on stamina maps, but i'am pretty bad at chordjack, and jumptrill is my biggest challenge now :' i always suck at timing jumptrill :'. For example i can play top diff big money, and get 97% until the last jumptrill come i failed, and same as Algorithm, Nanamori, and Nano Death while my friend could easily get 94% in 2nd try. I tried changing skin etc, didn't work, so now i started hates jumptrill map, and improve my skill on LN and Tech map :' . Sorry for the long comment :'.
Infunsionist everyone is good at their own skill, I am opposite of you completely. I suck at stamina speed and tech and prefer chord jacks acc and LN. But all I can say is keep improving at what you want to improve and you will get the results you want :)

How do increase my jumptrilling speed? I always get overwhelmed by nanodeath and lose acc on Kai dan and stuff like that.
I’d say find maps based on jumptrill only, I can link you some maps if you join the discord or ask me during my osu livestreams
I have a question ¿should I save money for a mechanical keyboard?
So I have been playing for a year or so, and I got a mem-chanical keyboard for christmas, it improved my accuracy a bit, but I had to switch to my laptop keyboard because it started to feel weird (like it slowed me down) so now I am getting into 4 star maps, but I feel like the laptop keyboard won't do the job.

your english is good ! Sorry for late reply but yes I think you should save up and buy a mechanical keyboard. It is worth it to get better at the game. Membrane keyboard can help you improve accuracy but you can't Jumptrill on it. Laptop keys will wear out very easily so you should go with mech.

I’m doing okay I suppose, it’s been 8 months, I can do high 3*, I play like 1-2 hours a day, still can’t do freaking LNs which is the worst type of mania maps
do you recommend setting goals as you go? Like you set a goal for beating a certain map.. and you keep playing it for like a 100 times or however many tries it takes.. doesn't that make you improve a lot?
i dont think retrying the same map over and over in one sitting. Because that will lead to mindblock. I just try to find similar maps with same patterns that i'm uncomfortable playing and try to set better scores on them over time.
This motivates me a lot, I've only been playing osu mania for 5 days and I am between 3.5 stars and 4.2, I hope that at the end of the first month I can pass 5star levels

Has played mania for exactly 1 year now still struggling so hard with jack 😂 I can do 5* stamina and LN but when it come to just 4.5* jack map I’m outta here
Been playing for 3 months (48 hours) now and I've hit wall after wall, my accuracy is bad and so is my speed. I'm not sure what I'm missing but I still enjoy the game enough to keep trying to improve. Currently I can get 85 - 95% in most 3 - 3.3* maps. The only specific skill I can think of that I haven't run into much problem with is reading, but everything else is still hard for me.

At the moment I feel you should work on your accuracy. If you are able to read notes that’s good, now you should focus on that timing. 3 months isn’t much so I think you are on the right track, there will be more walls but I’m sure you can overcome them.
