not really an accurate comparison- you have regular exhaust on a 911 base vs sport exhaust on 911S. They are 2 different engines. Of course they will sound different.

They're the same engine, the Carrera S only has more boost pressure than the base Carrera

The 2017 and onwards models added turbochargers which muffled the sound quite a bit. Before that the Carreras were naturally aspirated
