What a great song selection in choosing the popular "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" classic! You have the talented Simon Tomkins to accompany you in this richly sounding performance! 🎸 🔊 Yes we are in for a treat with this number! 😃 🎶
Visually with the presentation; you have such a colorful and vibrant looking video!! 🎥 Your nice yellow dress makes a striking contrast to the background and the teak timber! There is such a fresh atmosphere with your presentation. 😊 It's also great seeing Simon in an overlay window at times, displaying his talents! 👍
The Taylor guitar is miked up this time as a semi-acoustic for this number. Plus your guitar skills are evident right from the start with your quick double-time strumming at the start! I love the plucking of the notes at 0:10, proving your competent playing and it's great seeing you bopping along, as you enjoy this lively song! 🙂 Not that it matters, but it would be interesting how a 12 string guitar would sound on this 'live' number? (maybe it may take away the "Creedence" sound perhaps?)
The vocals have been superbly recorded and it's an interesting blend with how the guitars are panned in the mix! 🔊 🎧 It's actually an interesting mix!! The bottom of the video has been perfectly cropped and everything is framed superbly! (including the height of the camera!) The lighting is also terrific. There's always such attentiveness for detail to your videos and this is top class! 👏👏
At 0:12 you start singing with; ♫ "Someone told me long ago"♪. Then at 0:22, there's notable strength in the great way you sing: ♫ "It's been comin' for some time"♪. (with Simon adding some guitar licks). At 0:46 with; ♫ "I wanna know"♪; is an example of the great way you're projecting your vocals throughout this performance. It's a "Creedance" number and you're singing in a dominant fashion; giving this song fabulous justice wonderfully! You are certainly making this cover your own! 🎙️👍
Also in this performance, you are working the camera excellently! Your confidence is emanating executively well; especially with your eye contact! You have the gifted ability to add charm; making the video have impact visually and making it impressive musically for the listener! At 1:52 you sing the line again: ♫ "I wanna know"♪; but if we listen carefully, there's a treat of flare on ♫ "know"♪. It's these little touches here and there, that put the Emily-stamp on this presentation! 👩 Then there's that lovely smooth texture in your vocals, when you back off with the dynamics as you sing; ♫ "Comin' down on a sunny day"♪. 🎤
It's worth duly noting, that it's brave of you (for a female lead), to take on a classic song like this! (as we are so used to John Fogerty). Yet you get away with it so magnificently well and certainly with a touch of definite style and flare!❗️ In fact your style of singing for this song, is being sung with an outstanding level of high standard!! Bravo! Your vocals sound strong yet smoothly executed. You are singing confidently and you sound awesome! There is so much life in your voice and it fits this song sublimely! 😊 Wow!
At 2:08, there a terrific close-up of Simon as he begins his feature solo! Apart from the guitar sounding superb, there's some brilliant playing here. At 2:23 it's great how he bends the strings and adds some vibrato! 🎸 It's always nice to have an extra air of distinction and elegance at hand! 😎 You make us sit up and listen with your affirmation in the return of the vocals at 2:34 with; ♫ "I wanna know ♪; as you sing the "I" with assertion!! 🎤 At 2:44 you give a smile in acknowledgement in your performing. Yes indeed it's terrific!
Ahh, what a nice close-up and touch, as you end the song at 2:56, followed by a warm content smile at 3:02. 😁 What a lovely way to finish the video!!

Even though this is a duo with Simon; imagine how a "trio collaboration" with Chiara would be with this! What fun that would be! Plus even a rhythm section to boot! 🥁 However in say all this; there is always something special in the way an acoustic live performance sounds. It sounds fresh and enough zest to stimulate you and entertain you, with the fine musicianship formed from the two of you! Bravo indeed! 👍

Re your comment on the inclusion of a twelve string, at one time I had a Yamaha twelve string and it always enhanced any song being played, and could sound like two or three other guitars on a good day.
No longer have it since Isold it in '76 to buy my Wife her Ring, best deal I ever made.

I lived in northern California as a boy. We would sometimes have rain coming down on a sunny day. I always think of those days when I hear this song. Thanks Emily for bringing back some pleasant memories of my youth. 🥰

Hi Emily. I'm 64, huge music fan. I love Creedence BTW. This is a fantastic cover, different yet true to the original. I love your soft vibrato, very pleasing to the ears not like the washboard type. Beautiful girl, beautiful voice.

I'm in my mid-70's now and Karen Carpenter had always been my fav of the recent years ('60s to the present)
but now I've found a newy ( Karen will still remain in my pantheon of greats) but for me, Emily is sweeping all before her!
Being a great singer, Pianoist, guitarist and budding songwriter and arranger, she's a phenominum of so much talent,
not ignoring her great tutors and mum and all those in her home studio, she makes for an incredible future!

I had never seen or heard of this young female singer until I stumbled across a couple of her videos on youtube. A real gem. She has such a sweet, clean, sure voice. She really enunciates each word clearly. Now I have seen her accompany herself on piano and guitar, so she is a musician on top of being a singer. I hope she goes far in her career.
