Located in East Nashville Tennessee - Vinyl Tap - Wax & Drafts might be the MOST AWESOME Record Store Ever. I was in Nashville filming some video projects and wanted to initially check out Stubbs Records - but unfortunately they closed after 70 YEARS! So I looked up the best RECORD SHOPS IN NASHVILLE TENNESSEE - and VINYL TAP was on the top of the lists. I checked it out - and it turns out - its a full craft beer and cocktail - AND RECORD SHOP - you can Browse and DRINK and REPEAT! Owner Todd Hedrick was kind enough to talk with me for a few minutes and give the low down of this amazing record shop. I was fortunate enough to have been to Tubbs twice. I bought some classic country and spoke to the legendary staple who had been there for hundreds of years 😆 He told me some great stories, and made everything fantastically memorable. I can not believe this landmark is no longer. 😔

I'm just happy to see people opening record stores up again, it was heartbreaking in the early 2000s to see all the major chains and "mom-and-pops" closing because of "free music"!

Highly agree! I live in Memphis and made the pilgrimage to Nashville just for Vinyl Tap. Nothing beats the atmosphere and concept. Every year I go back for about a 3 hour visit to browse, buy and drink great beers.

there is another record store there Alisons Record shop. Jack White also has a record store and a pressing plant neat place the vinyl tap entrance sort of reminds you of a record cleaver idea

Be cautious of Nashville and particularly of East Nashville right now. My partner had an attempted SA in the CVS women's bathroom by a homeless guy. There were OD people all over the place both in E Nashville and on Broadway. There's people drunk off their ass on party busses and shit all times of the day. It's not the Nashville it was before the pandemic. Third Man is right by the homeless shelter. I'm no pussy, but Nashville was scary.

It's a great store, I go back every time I visit town. If you're ever in Nashville again, check out Phonolux. The used selection is astounding!!
Live here in Knoxville, TN where there is a large vinyl community and have not heard of Vinyl Tap. Will have to make a trek over to Nashville to see them. Thanks for the recommendation.
If you are ever down this way there is 5 or six record stores plus many great dives to go find records, just let me know and I will get you to them.

Are you based in the Philadelphia area? If so, I’d like to find out about some good shops you’ve found. I found one shop in West Chester that hands out free beer while you shop. So obviously, the owner is cool as hell.

The best record stores existed around 20 years ago when most people weren't interested in records like a bunch of hipsters are today.
There was a store in Northwest Ohio I used to go to that was run by an old guy. This was 15+ years ago. Most stuff $5 to $10. Common stuff that today is $10+ was under the shelves on the floor in milk crates for $1 or $2. I went there a lot for several years. I think only once was there ever another customer in there when I was there, and I was in there 2 to 3 hours each time. He did have wonky pricing though on some stuff. His old original jazz records were way over priced, even for today. But there was a lot of great records there. He died and everything got purchased by Ameba, at least that's what I was told.
First pressing of Jazz Albums has always been pricey. It's due to the fact that the pressing runs especially in the 60s and 70s were a fraction compared to Rock and Soul....

I think it’s great that vinyl is becoming more and more popular. I’am 70 and I haven’t bought a vinyl album for at least 30 years and I probably never will. Most new stuff I like I listen on Spotify
