  • The mother of a pregnant librarian who was shot and killed in a shootout with bikers following a road rage incident in Florida told Inside Edition she’s heartbroken that no one has been charged in her daughter’s death. The incident on that late November day that led to the expectant mother’s death began when police said Sara Morales intentionally bumped into a biker with her car. She then called 911, telling the operator that three men on motorcycles were chasing her.

She hit the biker intentionally, left the scene of an accident, then pulled out a gun to intimidate the biker, all while being a parent AND pregnant. This is a tragic story that had multiple chances to be de escalated, from all involved.

Exactly, that biker let his ego take control and followed the woman home and what's worse he had to shoot first instead of taking cover and realizing it's a mom just being scared. It's the guy breaking Florida law by trying to chase someone down to retaliate that lost control of his emotions. He did to Morales what Hannah Payne did to Kenneth Herring, and the only reason he wasn't charged was because his victim was Latina and not around to tell her side of the story. But I guarantee that if Derr had chased down a sister like this, it would be life imprisonment with the D.A. not hesitating to prosecute

He followed the car down about 1-3 blocks to her house assuming its either a hit and run or she's just speeding to her residence unhappy she got in an accident to get her insurance proof and get it over with. He simply sat on his motorcycle calling the police...when suddenly she rushed out of the house with a gun and opened fire. He had a concealed carry permit, grabbed it, and returned fire, killing her, which is objectively self-defense. So, yea, she got angry and wanted to blame the motorcyclist for her mistake pulled a gun and it cost her life and her unborn child. Do you even have a valid driver's license? Because if you did, you'd know it's ILLEGAL to follow someone because of a collision, it's called stalking. Hannah Payne was sentenced to life behind bars for following a fleeing motorist, so let's not pretend as if it's legal.
If my car is totaled, I would be upset, but I can't ASSUME the other person did it intentionally and follow them home. When you choose to intrude onto someone's private residential property DESPITE knowing you're unwelcome, especially in a state like Florida which allows homeowners to stand their grounds rather than retreat, you can't feign ignorance of the law. Terrible, terrible decisions and it cost her her life.
That’s not to say the bikers didn’t also make some poor decisions that day, but at no point did they threaten her life with their actions. @@mielissa100ify Besides the fact that yelling at someone on the road is a constitutionally protected right, I would say it is also something that nearly all of us have done at one time or another. Hitting someone with our vehicle-especially a person on a motorcycle that has no protection like someone in a car does-is NOT something we’ve all done (or hopefully would even consider doing), and is not a protected right unless in the case of self-defense or defense of someone else.
She was inside the safety of her vehicle, and she had no reason to fear for her life from someone yelling at her (for what I assume was something stupid or dangerous she had done on the road). The correct and appropriate response to being yelled at is to just drive away. If for some reason they followed her and continued to yell at her, then she should’ve made sure her doors were locked, called 911 and headed to the nearest police station. If you’re supposedly so afraid of somebody who is following you, you don’t drive to your house.
SHE was the aggressor in this story, SHE was the one who got physically violent with the guy on the motorcycle, and SHE was the one who pulled a gun. The bikers shouldn’t have been yelling at her and they shouldn’t have followed her to her home, but one of them had just almost been killed by her, and I can understand not wanting her to get away. I feel sorry for the mom and daughter. Regardless of what happened on the road. 3 men followed a pregnant woman to her house and confronted her instead of calling the police and waiting down the street. She was on her property. She had the right to draw down on him and tell him to leave. He should be charged. Both her and him made bad choices. She's dead and he should be charged with manslaughter. Self defense should not apply when you follow someone home and confront them.

No, he chased her to her house and was armed. This is the only sure thing that we know one of them did wrong. The rest, who did what before, is still to be determined as each told a different story.
Anyway, he should have called the police, that's how you solve problems, especially with so many people having weapons that is what makes these incidents even possible.
