    I can't get my mini iron to steam either and am now on my third replacement. I agree that my little Joann's iron worked much better and lasted several years before I have to replace it. I have given up trying to get any satisfaction out of this iron and will eventually buy another brand. One that works.

      I certainly don’t blame you. It’s more important that you’ve got a product that works to help make the sewing process more fun. Good luck.

    I love this little iron. It gets very hot and I sometimes forget and hold it up and get burnt by water pouring out the back, but the performance of the iron outweigh this user error.

    Great review as Always, thanks so much. I have one and did not listen to the instructions ( you even mentioned it) about never leaving it on the highest setting. For too long( 6 hours) and it was almost too hot to handle.. I learned quickly - it’s still a nifty iron . I always look forward to your reviews etc.

      Glad you enjoyed it. You know, I think we're all the same in that respect. I had heard bad reviews because it was too hot to handle then realized why. Thanks for being a loyal viewer :)

    Cute little mini iron. Great for on the go or if you don't won't/or really need to pull the big one out for use. I'm still pushing for a blue one though, lol. 💙😊 Thanks for the review Sue!

    Some good questions were asked in the LIVE - here you go. Also, here is a link for the manual: oliso.com/pages/downloads-manuals
    1. Is there an auto-off? None was mentioned in the instructions, it only stated not to leave the iron on setting 3 (linen/cotton) unless you are using it right then and there)
    2. Does it leak? Only if you use too much steam, pretty much like any iron I've ever used. There is a learning curve of how much steam and how often to use the steam buttons.
    3. Are the steam buttons awkward? Not for me, but my hands are little. I wouldn't use this iron as my primary but it's great for small projects right next to your sewing space and little things and of course on the go.
    4. Does it burn your hand - I saw another user say that? not for me but I also followed the instructions to a T. If the other user had it set to the 3 settings for a long period of time and went to use it, then yes, it might burn. The instructions clearly state NOT to keep it set to the highest 3 settings.
    5. What kind of water? This iron is designed to be used with regular tap water. If your water is over 12 grams of hardness, we recommend using either inexpensive bottled spring water or mixing half tap water with half distilled water.

    Hi Sue & Sue Fans, I haveThis iron and I have it in the pink which I love! I did get mine on the Oliso website and the shipping was pretty fast only a few days I think less than seven days. I can’t say that everyone else will get it in less than seven days with Covid but my experience is that it was a fast ship. I love it for my smaller quilt and sewing projects, love the extra long cord and steam. It’s very smooth gliding to be careful!!

    What kind of water does it require? Since moving to TX I’ve quit using steam. I ve killed an iron a year. After the third one I started reading the manuals. Duhhhh. I’m not gonna buy water to iron. So, I use a spray bottle and dry iron. My current iron has lasted three years with this setup. But I wouldn’t mind some steam again

      Walmart has $.80 cent gallon of distilled. water.....my husband needs for breathing machine and so we buy. A gallon lasts me a long time....and saves your iron !!!

      I am sorry to beat this horse but does it say NOT to use salt softened water. The hard water killed the first iron, so we got a water softener. We needed it anyway. Then that died in under a year. Then I started buying distilled water and another one died. That is when I read the manual. That particular iron said not to use distilled water. No reason why. Use tap water but not if you have hard water or salt softened water. That’s when I started using a spray bottle and a dry iron. I don’t know if that iron was unusual or not. I’d never bothered to read a manual before. The iron I had when I moved here was at least 10 years old when we moved. I didn’t think I needed a manual. I was 60 and have been ironing for 50 of those years. Who knew?I ended up having to toss it and I really liked it but couldn’t find one like it. Too old. Thanks for the suggestions ladies.

      @@donnanutt3650 I certainly don't blame you after what you've gone through - you can learn more in detail by downloading their manual. The gray on gray is a very poor design but it’s cost effective so they don’t have to spend more money printing more than one color. Just unplug it

    It would be nice to see the steam demonstration. My iron sucks and no steam ever comes out and I have used my iron according to the manual.

    • @SookieSews
      @SookieSews  Před rokem

      The steam is pretty ok but only works at high temp which can be a tad hot. It doesn’t have an automatic shut off so when I’m not going to be using it I usually lower the temperature down to one. I do demonstrate the steam in the video though

    • @olifrijoli5380
      @olifrijoli5380 Před rokem +2

      I actually figured the steam out recently. It works pretty well but you have to press it about 5 times, I guess it needs to be siphoned from the water reservoir. It also works well on the second setting.
