  • Riding GP Bikes with the wheel. Because of IR Tracking and how VR works in this sim it can't be beaten ;)

Did it feel natural? It seems like it'd feel a bit awkward to lean with your eyes.

At first it was very strange but after getting used to it there was no problem (:

Hello! I've recently delved into GP Bikes and am absolutely loving the simulation experience. I noticed in your video that you're using VR for rider lean, which is something I've been trying to set up. I have a TrackIR and an Oculus Rift S at my disposal. I was able to set up the direct steer mode, but I'm having trouble configuring the positional tracking for rider lean input. I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer a few questions to help me out:
How did you set up the positional tracking for rider lean? Was it through the game's settings or did you use additional software?
If you used additional software, could you please specify what software you used and how you configured it?
Were there any particular settings within GP Bikes that you had to adjust to get the positional tracking to work accurately?
Did you have to do any axis mapping to get the VR to track your body position for rider lean, or was it straightforward?
Lastly, if you've tried or have any insights on setting up rider lean tracking with TrackIR, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you so much for your time and for sharing your gameplay experience! Your setup looks incredibly immersive, and I'm eager to get mine working similarly. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers!

Hi Dimchansky! Sorry it took a while. I'm glad you want to ride like a real racer and not like these controller kids ;)
I used the Oculus DK2 with only one sensor in front of me. The Oculus ran through a modded version of the Oculus Rift software because the DK2 was way to old to work properly. Also was not supported by Oculus anymore at that time.
The rider lean and all other settings are in GP Bikes. It was 3 years ago so i don't know if the same things still apply now but here is a video of my settings i made for a friend. It's on unlisted now and maybe can help you a bit more.

I guess with your headset the experience should be way better than with the old DK2 and it's probably a matter of fiddling around a bit. The replay mode can help a lot if you want to check what your actual body movement does.
Hope that helps a bit and good riding Sir! Hope to see you on track someday soon.

Just to clarify, you use the Xbox 360 emulator? if so, ever had the issue where the wheel would stop responding mid race but then reconnect. This is usually small but can still mess you up if you were leaning.

I'm not sure what you mean regarding the Xbox Emulator. This is GP Bikes on PC. I was using a old Okulus DK2 and the Wheel through the software that came with it. Never had issues where the wheel would not respond except for that time my PC died :(
What wheel are you using and are you on PC?

@@_Krush I'm using a G920 so I have to use a Xbox 360 controller emulator in order for my wheel to work

I know I'm very late but how did you set up your wheel for the game?

    • @_Krush
      @_Krush  Před 2 lety +2

It comes with some software where you can set the max. angle to 90 degrees. Then i played around with the in-game settings. VR tracks the head-movement so rider lean angle is determined by your actual movement (love that!!). B-button on the wheel is my rear wheel brake and that is set to never lock up 100% and also closes kind of slow on button press so you don't slide sideways right away (: I hope that helps a bit.
