I don't think I'll ever tire of watching this jukebox do its stuff. It still has a few problems but I'm working through those. brisray.com/house/jukebox.htm
To think I had no idea what I was doing when I first opened this thing up. After a couple of weeks poking around inside it, it's fascinating how they ever managed to get everything working together and in the order it's supposed to.
For some reason the AMI Rowe jukeboxes are not as popular as the fancier or brighter models, especially those with the bubbler lights, from Wurlitzer, Seeburg or Rockola. A lot depends on condition and how well it has been restored. I really am no expert on pricing these things but you can pick up an unrestored AMI Rowe for a couple of hundred dollars. eBay has several different makes and models less than $1,000 and I suppose that's about what a MM5 would be worth. It might be worthwhile joining a couple of the Facebook jukebox groups and asking. Some of the people in those will probably give you a better idea of how much they are worth.
@@brisray ok thanks for the advice Ray. Actually the offer is for the jukebox plus 2500 45s with a lot of 50s and 60s supposedly for $2000 Canadian . Certainly if the 45s are of a certain calibre it will be well worth it. Even if they are all reissues in mint- shape, it could still be worth it depending on titles. If you think I could possibly get up to $1000 for it then I am sure its worth taking the deal ,even though I will have to rent a storage locker for it and the records, since Im in an apartment above a store, just steep stairs . I was thinking I wouldn't want to allot much for the jukebox unless Im sure I will get $400 minimum for it ,but its looking like that much is almost certain now at least. Im not sure if hes willing to sell records without the jukebox mind you. Im not sure its truly excellent shape either . Think I will join that FB group now ,to see what else I can find about it,so thanks again
Mine isn't for sale but AMI Rowe jukeboxes are not that expensive, I'd say you should be able to find one from the 1970s for somewhere between $600 - $1,000. Something like a fully restored Wurlitzer with bubbler tubes go for around $10,000 or more. One of the problems with owning one is that if something goes wrong with them, then spare parts are getting harder to find and getting more expensive. Then there's the weight of them, my MM5 weighs around 400 lbs.
Well done Ray!
