  • Here is a good way to feel the club working more back in transition and how the body can react to that movement. Great feel, drill, idea for those that get to the top and come down too steep trying to hit the ball.

    Once I discovered this feel, my contact improved dramatically. What was a surprise is when I realized how patient I have to be with the downswing to allow for the club to fall behind me. Thanks for describing this motion so clearly.

    It took me 3 years of playing to finally experience this feel. It is ABSOLUTELY amazing and effortless. There is no conscious effort after the backswing. The feeling is the club just drops! Yesterday, I hit 300 yard bombs with this feel! Amazing!

    No Joke- I’ve played on and off for ten years and practice all the time when I get into it.. I have had an Over the top move for years that was “unfixable” and it stops me from playing consistent golf. This move changed my entire swing. I found it before I found this video but this move is the best. You do have to be very patient at transition and not fire until you feel the head drop under the plane..

    The biggest thing that helped my swing was having a light grip pressure. This allows the club to naturally fall and rotate after impact. When I had a tight grip I was manipulating the club causing me to swing the club which created an over the top path. The best advice I think anyone can get to really understand the golf swing is to allow the club to do all of the work. That club is designed to naturally fall and rotate into impact if you allow it.

    Im new to golf and ive noticed now after seeing this video that im gripping the club way to tight and trying to throw my arms to the golf ball i dont come over the top but i think this video has made me realise you dont have to grip the club really tight and fire the club at the ball, next time i go out im going to try and let the club fall to the ball see if it helps me out

    • @bryanpategolf
      @bryanpategolf  Před měsícem +1

      Need enough tension in the hands to have a secure grip but soft enough in the arms/wrist for the club to swing around you. The swinging hits the ball vs you trying to use force to hit the ball.

    I've returned to this wonderful video again, though I've yet to be able to execute this. I believe this portion is fundamental, such that it will even help get the proper backswing because it gives the body the goal. Is there any way to expand on this topic? more feels, things to look out for etc? living in the city, no real place I can throw a club, don't even have grass ranges. thanks

    • @bryanpategolf
      @bryanpategolf  Před 2 lety +2

      I would start slow enough you can do the motion in a full swing. Could also jump in front of a mirror to get instant feedback of what it feels like.

    Hi Bryan, great video. one question please: is this the move: you turn your left hip and at the same time you drop/fall your arms/hands slightly straight down......thanks

    • @bryanpategolf
      @bryanpategolf  Před 2 lety +1

      That could be a thought. If you were going to throw a ball sidearm with the trail hand the body would step, rotate, then release the arm to release the ball. A lot of golfers try to hit the ball from the top like that is the goal vs swinging the club.

  • @Robert-ts2ef

    In my mind Bryan, the golf swing is dependant on perfect timing such that if you let the club drop as you say and don’t turn at the right time, you are either going to hit the ground before the ball or if you turn too early before it has fully dropped then you will either top it or miss it completely. It’s a function of hand and eye coordination to correctly time the drop to match the impact. Even the tour pro’s get it wrong (but not often). For the average hacker (me), dropping the arms as you say is the best method of swinging the club as opposed to the modern day swing which keeps the lead arm in position from the top of the backswing and during the downswing but dropping your right shoulder under and swing left. I tried that and my back did not like it.

  • @robertcourt8593
    @robertcourt8593 Před 3 měsíci

    The reason, I think, why this is so difficult for most people is because it feels so effortless and our subconscious believes to hit it far we need to put effort in.

    • @bryanpategolf
      @bryanpategolf  Před 3 měsíci

      Very true. They think strength is the answer. If that is the case why do little 14 year old kids and the LPGA hit it 250+

  • @johnt6810
    @johnt6810 Před 2 lety

    My main swing thought it to throw the club down the target line. But I like to throw it from a high position. If I drop the club then throw it I tend to hit the ground too early. So maybe what feels like throwing from a high position is not really happening and I am actually shallowing the club some before I throw it. I hope.

    • @bryanpategolf
      @bryanpategolf  Před 2 lety

      Some people can get it falling too far behind them. If that is the case it can land too early. Would need to add a little turn from the top to help it to start moving out as it falls if that is the case.

    One recommendation for the video….show a full swing at full speed after you communicate whatever it is that you are communicating. This is a common critique of mine watching numerous golf videos.

      Then everyone would stop together and go get their club. Also would be interesting to watch to see where everyone tossed the club to. Some would be into the ground, out in front, and some would throw them over their shoulder behind them or straight up. When this day comes everyone gets a hard hat and maybe padding :)

      If you want to try and swing on the delivery plane it would be closer to a Kuchar look. Taller and thiner the player their club goes more up and falls more down. Shorter and wider the player is the more around it might go. Depends on the body and what the player wants. Can experiment with both. Not saying you have to lift the club/arms way up but I like to see the lead arm around the shoulder line at the top.
