    Im new to golf and ive noticed now after seeing this video that im gripping the club way to tight and trying to throw my arms to the golf ball i dont come over the top but i think this video has made me realise you dont have to grip the club really tight and fire the club at the ball, next time i go out im going to try and let the club fall to the ball see if it helps me out

      Need enough tension in the hands to have a secure grip but soft enough in the arms/wrist for the club to swing around you. The swinging hits the ball vs you trying to use force to hit the ball.

    You end by asking if it’s hurting or helping. I tuned in to find out from you because I got some heeled footjoy premiers and my swing went to purgatory !! I guess I’ll just take away the fact that it has an effect and dump the shoes hate the feeling I have after starting to wear them. Awful. Should be a warning on the shoe box !😊

      I was hitting a bunch of balls this winter in the Nike Jordan shoes. All was going well until a few months in when my right big toe started to notice some strain. Went back to The FJ Icon with more structure and all is good again. Always good to try different shoes now and then if your current ones are not working. Just don’t hit in running shoes that have a large slope that helps you move forward. That’s good in running but not in golf.

    Hello Bryan, I love your style and ability to break down the swing in such a digestable manner. I had a question regarding one of your previous videos you posted 2 years ago. You mentioned the teachings of Mike Adams, Terry Rowles and EA Tishler. Im very familiar with their methodologies. Do you still subscribe to their teachings as far as the grip and its correlation to what the elbows/ speed of the hips? Or do you recommend most golfers stick to more of a neutral/ side-on to side-cover set up, as you see here? Thanks 🙏

      If you want to try and swing on the delivery plane it would be closer to a Kuchar look. Taller and thiner the player their club goes more up and falls more down. Shorter and wider the player is the more around it might go. Depends on the body and what the player wants. Can experiment with both. Not saying you have to lift the club/arms way up but I like to see the lead arm around the shoulder line at the top.

    • @bryanpategolf
      @bryanpategolf Před 5 měsíci

      In short game you have many options to hit different shots. For more of a stock pitch shot I like the club going up and down the plane fairly neutral. Can hit a little draw or cut form there.

      Film from down the line with camera on the target line and see when the hosel is moving into the ball. Is it coming from too far inside and crossing (in to out path) or is the path too out and coming across. Look 1’ before to 1’ after. Can put an alignment rod out in front a few feet of the ball to make it easier to see the target line.

    The biggest thing that helped my swing was having a light grip pressure. This allows the club to naturally fall and rotate after impact. When I had a tight grip I was manipulating the club causing me to swing the club which created an over the top path. The best advice I think anyone can get to really understand the golf swing is to allow the club to do all of the work. That club is designed to naturally fall and rotate into impact if you allow it.

    No Joke- I’ve played on and off for ten years and practice all the time when I get into it.. I have had an Over the top move for years that was “unfixable” and it stops me from playing consistent golf. This move changed my entire swing. I found it before I found this video but this move is the best. You do have to be very patient at transition and not fire until you feel the head drop under the plane..
