🚨 CRITICAL UPDATE: This tutorial works for GarlicOS 1.x.x and the original RG35XX ONLY. 🚨 The process for installing GarlicOS 2.x on the Anbernic RG35XX Plus and H models is currently VERY different and more difficult. I do not recommend using the Alpha build of GarlicOS 2.0 at this time. I'm sure it will become the superior firmware in the future, but for now I would stick with Anbernic's stock OS. Thank you and happy gaming.
wow thanks for this comment, I tried so many tutorials on my PLUS but got stuck with a black screen... :(
@@Morphdesign unfortunately a lot of people have done that because Anbernic decided to give 4 different devices the same name. 🙄 Haha. Sorry that happened to you. You can get the stock OS from their website and re-flash it on your card.

Thank you, I'm 57yrs old now and have just bought an RG35XX. I haven't played a game for at least 17yrs. I did all of the Dooms, Quake's, Half-life in the 90's on a PC then stopped playing. Had a quick go at Half-Life2 when it came out but it wouldn't run proper on my laptop so gave up. Have always said I'll get back into it when I retire, but an RG35XX popped up in my instagram feed so bit the bullet and looking forward to playing all those old school games I missed out on. Cheers for your great video, I would have spent hours and hours reading and trial and error if I hadn't found this. All done now, yipeee. thx.

Still current ?
If you have the original RG35XX, yes it’s current. If you have the newer “Plus” model released in December ‘23, this version of GarlicOS doesn’t work. You have to download GarlicOS 2.0 instead.

very good explanation , thank you.
You’re welcome. That’s good to hear. Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial! I found it incredibly helpful and well-explained. The step-by-step instructions made the process easy to follow, and I appreciate the effort put into creating this resource.
However, I noticed a small omission in the tutorial. It would be beneficial to include a section on installing the second MicroSD image, as it seems to be a crucial step that's missing. Overall, fantastic job, and I'm looking forward to seeing any updates that address this part of the process.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks! Glad it was able to get you up and running.
I probably should have included that, but I was trying to keep it short and sweet. Basically, you just insert the second card into the TF2 slot, then boot up the device, and GarlicOS will format that card. Then you put the card back in the computer and add your ROMs to the appropriate console folder. That's it! 🙂

Awesome guide. Once you have installed garlic, is it possible to transfer the roms from the stock SD card into the new sd cards so we dont have to go looking for roms online? also do you recommend 32gb or 64gb sd card for the install of garlicOS?
Yes. Roms you can just drag and drop from one card to the other. Just make sure you put them in right console folder. You can also copy and paste. Whichever you prefer. GarlicOS only needs about 4gb for installation so any size card will do. If you're planning to use a second card for your ROMs, 64gb should be sufficient unless you're planning to load every game ever made. If you're doing just a single card set up, 64gb is still a good choice.
How do I add the roms folder, it is not on my ss card
can you please tell me how to add new console or emulator I want to add msx. because the one I have don’t work
"let's get into it" - gee haven't heard that a tonne of times here on CZcams across sooo many channels 😅

great video and very helpfull the only thing im a lil confused about is do i do this on the car that came with the console or on the 2nd card that i brought fro slot 2 with all my games on it ? any help would be very helpfull :)
If it were me, I would keep the generic card that came with it as is just in case you ever want or need to go back to the stock OS. In addition to that, for GarlicOS it's recommended (though not completely necessary) to use two new cards. You'll install Garlic on the card that will go in TF1. Then put that plus your TF2 card in and boot up the RG35XX. If you installed Garlic correctly, it will put folders on the card in TF2. Then you shut it down and take out your TF2 card and place your games in the appropriate roms folders, insert it back into the RG35XX, boot up again, and GarlicOS should recognize them automatically. Hope that helps get you going! Happy gaming! 🙂
@@BoKnowsGaming Ahh, think this answers the question I was asking. I'll attempt this today once my cards arrive c:
@@Scottyboy2000 Great! Happy gaming, friend!
Hi just wondering that if I booted up the handheld without the 2nd SD card on slot 2 would it still work if I put it in now or would I have to add the files myself and is it the exact same files from SD slot 1 ?
I am terribly novice at this, could you possibly break down the "moving roms" part a bit more for me?
A "ROM" is a generic term used for any digital copy made from a physical game. But in order for the firmware (OS) to be able to play the ROM it has to know what system the game was originally played on. So you have to move your ROM files into the appropriate console folder. A Sega Genesis game won't play if it's in the Playstation 1 folder. It has to be in the Genesis folder. GarlicOS makes the folders for you, but you have to put your ROMs where they're supposed to go. Hope that helps! Happy gaming!
this was great! and it helped me revive my RG35XX after the stock poop sd card burnt out on me.
My question is, is there a way to get all the games back any chance? Where can I find the stock roms that come with the device?
That’s awesome! 👏
Unfortunately, Anbernic doesn’t have a way to redownload their ROM set. I recommend using a search engine and looking for “Tiny Best Set Go RG35XX”. That should get you on your way.
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you for the reply, I actually did that exact one and it worked! Great job! Keep it up!
@@CarlosCampos Awesome. Thank you. I will!
thank you so much I already installed garlic o.s only my problem is the ROMS
YW. Glad to help. If you’re looking for the ROMs folders, there is one created by GarlicOS for every console and you can place your ROMs inside the console folders. If you’re asking where to find ROMs, I’m afraid I can’t tell you that. But there are search engines you can use to find the answers. 🙂
Following all the process, but my sd card only gets the D partition. I tried it on the console and it worked, but since i dont get the other partitions, i dont know where to place my roms. Please help!
Quick question: the console has two slots for SD cards. Do we install GarlicOS and the rom games in slot 1 SD card? What do we do with slot 2 card? can we just remove that card and not use it at all? or is that card also for any additional roms you might want to add? Also do we need to update the console firmware first before installing garlic?
It is recommended that you install garlicOS on the card that will go in the TF1 slot, and place your ROMs on the card that goes in the TF2 slot. You can put everything on one card, but if you ever have to update to a newer version of garlicOS, you will risk losing your ROMs and safe files. Hope that helps! 🙂
There is no on board memory. All of the firmware is on the card in the TF1 slot. So if you’re replacing the stock OS with Garlic, you don’t have to update anything first. I would recommend you use a new card though and leave your original stock card as is in case you ever want/need to go back to it.
I only want to have one game on my rg35xx, is it enough to put the emulator and the rom file on the micro sd card?
Because at the moment it doesn't start up anymore and it only says Anbernic and garlic os is too heavy for me because my laptop can't handle it.
So can someone point out what im doing wrong....i follow the steps unless im downloading a wrong file but after he opens the usb drive to tell you about adding the games my usb drive doesnt look like his so idk what or where it went wrong with me....anyone mess up like i did that knows a solution?
Hello good ser, my anbernic rg35xx got a problem that once it turns on then it went to a black screen, does that mean that the OS/SD card (that came w the console) is not working anymore?
General curiosity from side (WARNING!! Could be a very dumb question...)
In these devices that basically run the operaring aystem from the sd card - at least as far as I understood - is there any modifications to the device itself by installing a different os? Is there any sw bits on the device itself (idk, a bootloader for instance, or a BIOS) that is modified by the operation? Or is it everything happening on the sd card?
In other words, if as an example I flash garlic os on an SD card, another custom fw on another sd card, and I even keep the stock card as delivered from anbernic, can I just swap cards to swap the operating system the device will boot into?
Not a dumb question at all. There's no bootloader or bios on the device at all. Everything is on the card. I kept my original intact and used a new card for GarlicOS. You can swap the cards out any time you want as long as you turn it off first. 👍
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you sir! Really appreciate you took the time to answer. And... Great that I can play with the systems, then 😁
You’re welcome. 🙂 Have fun!
Question.. maybe confusing.. I’ve had one for a little while now. Put in my own SD card when I first got it. So all the fat32 stuff/allocation section has already been completed.. but what if I wanted to install GARLIC Os now? Would I just put it into a certain drive I’ve created? If so, which one? Does it matter? Haha
GarlicOS is a firmware. Think of it like the foundation of a house. You can't just put it in one of your rooms. It has to be installed first, and then everything else is built on top of it. So, installing it requires your card to be completely wiped clean. If you decide to do that, copy all your ROMs (games) and anything else you don't want to lose to your computer first. Then after you wipe the card and install GarlicOS you can copy your ROMs back over to the card. 🙂
i was able to get it going and installed games as well my problem is the audio cuts out more often than id like it to. any idea why?
Is it happening with every game? Or just a specific game or system?
amazing thanks, but do you have a mac alternative to Partition wizard ?
No. Unfortunately I don't. I've been looking for one for a while. If you come across one I'd love to know about it because I do most of my work on a Mac.

[MAC OS] How to Install Garlic OS in 2 MINUTES! (RG35xx Tutorial)
by: techdweeb
Thanks for the tip!
Do I have to buy a new micro SD card or can I just use the one that already came with the rg35xx
It’s not absolutely necessary. Just recommended. The one it comes with is known to fail. It’s cheap. I kept mine so I would be able to return to the stock OS if I ever wanted to. But you can do what you want! 🙂 I would copy all the ROMs to your computer first so you don’t lose those. The sd card has to be wiped completely clean before you can install GarlicOS.
I'm confused by the last bit where you say find the roms and drop them in the appropriate folder. I assume you mean game roms? but where do you get the game roms from?
ROMs are game files, yes. Basically, each console has its own folder. Nintendo Entertainment System games/ROMs only work if they're placed in the NES folder. If you place them in the SNES folder they won't work, because that's where the Super Nintendo games/ROMs go.
I can't really say where to get the ROMs. But there are ways to search the internet for archives of old games that are no longer on the market. I'm sure you can figure it out. 👍
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you. would roms in .fig format work on this game console?
The file extension will be different depending on the console. For example: NES is .fc and SNES is .sfc
I’ve never seen .fig
@BoKnowsGaming is there a cheat sheet to know what all the emulators are. I'm new to this and I had no idea SNES was .sfc and .fc was NES. Please and thanks🙏
MiniTool Partition Wizard is like $59 for the feature to resize and save. Any programs that will allow you to apply that save without a hefty charge?
There’s a free version. They just don’t want you to find it on their site. Try googling Minitool Partition Wizard free version.
On 4:11 when you say find the roms folder, what’s roms? I’m not sure how to find it nor even know wat it is
A rom in this context is a file that contains the game. It's a general term. It can refer to many different file extensions. Some examples would be .fc (NES games), .sfc (Super NES games), .chd (PS1 games), .gba (Game Boy Advance games), and the list goes on. 🙂
Is there any differemce with installing this version of Garlic OS rather than just using the garlic OS that comes pre installed om the device?
As long as the preinstalled version is 1.4.9 there’s no difference. A lot of people bought an RG35XX before they came with garlic 🧄preinstalled, so this tutorial is for them. Or you might experience a faulty sd card and need this as well.
Hi, I was wondering where do I insert the sd card with the garlic os on it. In the second compartment or where the other sd card already is
In the TF1 card slot. I like to keep the original card intact and in a safe place in case I ever need to go back to it.
Will I lose my game save data on my original SD card? Do I put the new SD card with GarlicOS in the 2nd slot alongside the old one, or do I need to remove the old one and only use the new one?
I would leave your original card as is. If you use it for any of this process you’ll lose all your games and saves. Just put it in a secure place. You can copy the ROM files from it over to your new card. Your new card with garlicOS will go in the TF1 slot.
Good morning ! I did everything according to your instructions. However, when I connect the card to the computer, only the disk with 10MB is displayed, even though I increased the amount of space to 118 GB. Could I have missed something? can you help? Kind regards 😊
Hmmm 🤔 Curious. Does your handheld boot up with the card installed? If the RG35XX boots correctly, then shut it down and put the card back in your computer and see what happens then.
Great video just a one thing mini tool partition should be made know that it is not free an important point that should be made know but other than that easy to follow. TY
It is free. They just make the free version difficult to find because they want you to pay.
Yeah when I even did a trial for the pro every time I use it never would do it and tells me you have to use the paid version. But I did find an alternative that worked like a charm and was able to finish
@@latinghost4807 Good. I'm glad you got it figured out! I hope you're enjoying GarlicOS. I think it's an excellent firmware. Just to clarify, for anyone else reading this: I did not use the free trial. There is a free version of this tool from the company. But you may have to do a google search to find it because they've buried it on their website.
My only issue is the ending when you said drop the roms in the right folder I got lost
Each console has it's own folder. Your Sega Genesis games won't work if you put them in the Super Nintendo folder, and vice versa. So all I mean is, make sure you put your ROMs/games in the appropriate console folder.
So I've always heard people recommend using a combo of a 16gb microSD with a larger separate microSD for the roms. Is this still necessary? I've already ordered a 16gb and a 128gb
It’s not necessary. Just recommended. If the smaller card with garlicOS gets corrupted somehow, or if there’s an update and the update fails for some reason, it’s better to have all your games and save files on a separate card so you don’t lose all of that in the process. Also, unless you’re going to load every game from every system this plays and take lots of screenshots, you probably don’t need a 128gb card. I’d return that if it’s unopened and get a 32 or 64 gb card for the ROMs and save a little money. But that’s just a suggestion. You do what you want! 🙂 And I hope you have a ton of fun with it!
@@BoKnowsGaming I sure 128gb is over kill, but it was only 11 bucks on Amazon (Samsung brand), while the my SanDisk 16gb was 9 bucks.. 🫠
Thanks for explaining the reasoning though.
Great price! Nice! Not worth the hassle of returning it then. And you’re welcome. Glad to help! 🙂
I’m not good with computers at all so I’m not sure what I did wrong but whenever I try to do something with the garlic.Img file it says this disc image file is corrupted
Did you download both the .001 and the .002 files to the same folder?
Hey, do you know how to add the Atari 2600 emulator (Stella?) to StockOS, or does StockOs not allow that? Thank you for your time. I downloaded a version of Stella from the Retrogamecorps website. It has a guide called guide: How To Load Games Onto The RG350 (HOME CONSOLES AND HANDHELDS) but as you can see, that guide is for games and the RG350, not the RG35XX. Anyway, I'd appreciate a reply on whether or not it's actually possible to put this emulator on the StockOs. I know you would probably prefer GarlicOS but yeah, just wondering if my question could be attended to. Maybe it's possible with some tinkering, who knows! Thanks in advance.
I will admit, I’m no expert on the Atari 2600. But I have played it a bit on the RG35XX and my understanding is that it doesn’t require a standalone emulator. Both the stock os and GarlicOS use retroarch, and I believe it runs the 2600 within that. So, you just have to add the ROMs to the Atari 2600 folder and then boot up the device. You should be able to play without Stella on either OS.
Hope that helps! 👍
hey man i don't get the bios roms folders i only see the charger frame stuff.. please help i formatted my SD card several times now still no change i really need those Rom folder so i can put games on it. Thankyou
To get those folders you have to put the card in the RG35XX and boot it up for the first time. It makes those folders for you. Then you shut it down and put the card back in your computer to add your files.
So close to finishing but the last part was unclear on how to drop and where to drop the roms files (this is probably a dumb question but I’m genuinely lost)
Not a dumb question at all.
After balena etcher completes the installation do this:
1) Remove the SD card from the computer
2) Reinsert the SD card into the computer
3) At least two new drives will mount. One of those drives will have a folder named ROMs. Open the ROMs folder.
4) You’ll see a long list of folders with abbreviated names. These are all your individual console systems. So for example, all your NES ROMs will go in the “FC” folder, because FC is short for FamiCom which is what the NES was called in Japan. Simply put all your NES ROMs in that folder. Done.
5) Now do that for all your different systems. Sometimes the ROM file will help you know which folder it goes in. Example: SuperMarioRPG.sfc would go in the SFC folder. Other times you might have to look up which folder to put something in. Example: PlayStation games go in the PS folder, but are not named GameTitle.ps.
Hope that helps, my friend. Thanks for watching!
I do not have these folders, pls help

If im doing a 2 card set up do i need to do the mini tool partition wizard part to the second card or can i just flash the os onto the first card then insert both cards boot and it will create the rom folders and done?
If I remember correctly, you can skip the mini tool part if you want on a two card setup.
@@BoKnowsGamingthat's great thank you :)
YW.
I cant open the other drives wnd it tells me to formar
Is this method for the single sd method or double sd?? and whatever it is does it make a difference on how to download garlic os.
This is really for a single card installation, but most of the steps for a two card install are the same. You just need to insert the second card into the handheld before you boot it up. Then it will create folders for you on the card. Turn it off, put the second card in your computer, add your ROMs to the appropriate console folder, put it back in your handheld, and boot back up.
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you so much!
YW! 🙂
When i downloaded garlic os there isn’t any emulators on it, how can i fix this ?
Does retroarch have a shaders video setup? Thx
There are a bunch of shader presets built in to retroarch within GarlicOS. They’re nice! 👍
If i buy another sd card how do i install all the roms?? Is there like something to copy the roms to the new sd card and then just download the games to the new card?
Good question. Garlis OS should be on the card that goes into the TF1 slot. But if you put a second card into the TF2 slot, THEN boot up the device, Garlic OS will play empty ROM folders onto the second card. Next, shut down the device, take out the second card, connect it to your computer, and you should see that the card has all those empty folders on it. They will be labeled by system. So each console will have it's own folder. At that point, all you have to do is copy and paste your ROMs into the folder of the system that game was released on. Eject the card, put it back into the TF2 slot, boot up the RG35XX, and start playing! Hope that helps! Thanks for watching! 🙂
04:25 ok so where do I find the ROMS and where do I drop the folders ? This I don't understand.
I can't tell you where to find the ROMs, but an online search will probably help you find your way. The folders that your ROMs will be placed in are generated automatically by GarlicOS. You just have to place your ROMs inside the appropriate folders by putting your GarlicOS card in your computer and moving the files yourself. 🙂
Don’t see fat32 only ex fat and ntf ..help!
I already have a save file that I’m currently playing on, but want to switch to garlic os, is it possible to keep my save data and transfer it over?
I tried that when I switched to GarlicOS and it didn’t work. So unfortunately, no. I don’t think it’s possible because the saves are formatted differently. Hopefully this is something the emulation community can standardize in the future. Good question. Thank you for watching.
Thanks man, what was the microsdcardimage002 for?
Not sure. Haha. But if you don’t have it you can’t extract 001. It doesn’t work.
@@BoKnowsGaming yea it didn’t tell me to drop it anywhere so I was just wondering, thanks!
No problem!
Should I skip the validation during the balenaEtcher flash process?
No. I’d let it do that.
Just tried your tutorial but when I reinserted my new micro sd card the only folders I have on it are dtbs and modules. Any advice?
So, Garlic creates two separate partitions/drives. One has the folders you mentioned. The other has folders for ROMs and BIOS and a couple of other things. Check to see if a second drive mounts when you insert the card. If not.... I'm not really sure what went wrong. I guess you should try starting over from the beginning.
have you found a solution?
I have not been able to try it yet. @@ionicxm
hi. in my folder i only have 3 files BIOS, CFW and ROMS. save and screenshot folder is missing
That’s really odd. Those are empty when you first install it though. So maybe just make two new folders, name them “Saves” and “Screenshots”. That should do the trick.
Does this tutorial still work for the RG35XX plus model that just came out?
Not exactly. The install process is the same. You just need the GarlicOS 2.0 files instead of 1.4.9.
What is the name of the microphone ? Looks interesting. Would go nice with my rgb asus laptop. :D
It’s this one from HyperX: amzn.to/3vhKeJ1
I’ve been using it for a couple of years and have traveled with it some. It’s been awesome! I have a few different mics, some of them worth a lot more, but I always come back to this one.
Thanks for watching!
@@BoKnowsGaming Cool, thanks! I also have controllers and headphones from them, did not know about this one.
It’s nice. It’s their most premium product, imo.
Is there a place where you can just buy preloaded tf cards.?
Probably on eBay. Haha. But I don’t know that for sure, and I wouldn’t endorse it even if I did. Too sketchy.
After mounting the image, ejecting the sd card and popping it back in will not show up in windows explorer. it appears in Mini Tool Partition Wizard, I can even see the folders, but I cannot see it in windows explorer. I inserted the sd card into the handheld and Garlic OS boots up, but I cannot add anything to the SD card. Any suggestions?
I noticed something. To anyone who cannot get the SD card to open after flashing it with Garlic, it might be because all the drives do not have an assigned letter. In the video, I can see his SD card has multiple partitions with each an assigned drive letter that his computer will recognize as multiple inputs. Mine, do not have any drive letters assigned to them. I don't know how to fix this, but I feel as though this is the issue. Anyone have any ideas?
Alright, just figured it out. While in the Mini Tool Partition program, after expanding the the FAT32 drive to the rest of the unallotted space and clicking apply, right-click on the now expanded partition and choose the option "Change Letter". I chose a lower letter, but most should work. After selecting your drive letter, click Apply again and remove/insert the sd card again and youll be able to add files to the SD card. Hope this helps. Apologies for the double reply.
No apology necessary. I’m glad you figured it out. This did not happen to me, so I had no idea how to fix this when I started reading your first comment. My drives were automatically assigned letters. I didn’t even know that it was a possibility that they wouldn’t be. This is very good information to have for the future. Thank you! 😊
had an awful experience putting garlic on was fine as soon but unable to add games as the part of the card with garlic on there wasnt available for me to edit so now i have to re download the original firmware from ambernic was a waste of time for me
Mm... Sorry you had such a hard time with it. I know those kinds of things can be extremely frustrating.
It's good I managed to get the stock OS back on it for the most part although the PS1 games are abit of pain but runs great especially the dual os
Question! What if I want to put my ROMs in the SD2 slot? Do I need to do anything special? Do I need to flash the garlic.img on both, or just create an organized ROMs folder?
Great question. Once you've installed Garlic on the first card, and booted it up for the first time, turn the RG35XX off. Then insert your second card (make sure it's blank), and boot the device back up. It should create a folder system on the second card when you boot up. You can shut it back down, put the second card in your computer and add your ROMs to the correct systems folder.
@@BoKnowsGamingthank you so much!
You’re welcome. 🙂
@@BoKnowsGaming Apologies, new problem. GarlicOS remains locked on the bootup screen. Seems many people with the purple transparent (newer) RG35XX have this issue. Any fixes, or should I get GarlicOS off the SD and flash the original OS back onto it?
@@captaincassidy8287 this version of Garlic only runs on the original RG35XX (see pinned comment). If you have a newer version with the H700 it won’t work. If you have the original version I have a video that explains why it gets stuck on boot and how to fix it, here: 🪛 How to FIX Your RG35XX Battery and GarlicOS Boot 🪛

Is a sd card adapter for my laptop the same as an sd card reader?
Should be. Yes. 🙂
it didn’t work. when I flash garlic on my sd card and try it on my rg35xx plus it doesn’t start. so even when I continue with the steps it doesn’t work
please please help me with this
Garlic OS 1 does not work on the RG35XX Plus. I made this video way before the Plus was even announced. I have a pinned comment explaining that this is for the original RG35XX only. You can attempt to install the Alpha build of Garlic OS 2 on your Plus model, but it's a more complicated process and it's not fully featured yet. Once it is I plan on doing an install guide for it as well. Thanks for watching and sorry for the confusion.
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you so much for explaining. but can you tell me how to add a new console like a new emulator. I want to add the msx but I couldn’t
There should already be an MSX folder to drop ROMs into if GarlicOS was installed properly. Retroarch can emulate MSX, but you might have to google search for the bios files and drop them onto your sd card.
When you mean by find the roms and drop them in the appropriate folder do you mean download the roms of the games you want then drop them in there? Also can i just copy and paste the games from the old hardrove onto the new one?
I would install garlic on a brand new card, then transfer the ROMs from the original card to the new garlic card. If you install garlic on the original card you will erase and lose all the ROMs.
Thank you one more thing what's a good storage size for the SD card
I just use a 64gb Lexar card in mine. I think I have a link in the description. But if you are planning on really loading it up with a lot of PS1 games you could go up to 128gb. 🙂
Thank you I only really plan on playing ff7 and crash bandicoof
@@lordexplosionmurder5696 then a 64gb card will be more than sufficient. You’ll have plenty of room for save states and screenshots. 👍
Hey,
i followed your steps and i think i got quiet far. garlic os is running on my device now - great! My problem is now, that I do not have any emulators on the device. Is there anything i can do ?
like, the consols foder on my device is empty.
Yes. The emulators are baked in. You have to provide the ROMs (games). If you still have your original card intact, you can copy and paste ROMs from there. If not, I would do an internet search for “Tiny Best Set Go Games RG35XX”. That’ll get you going.
can you tell me how to increase the screen brightness in garlicOS? I can't find how to do it in settings after I installed Garlic
If I remember correctly, you hold the “menu” button in the middle, and then use the volume rocker to change the brightness up and down. But I don’t have mine with me at the moment to double check.
It worked. Thanks! @@BoKnowsGaming
Awesome. You’re welcome!
at 4:09 it showed all the files on your screen but my folder had what your "USB Drive (G:)" file had please help me
The letter it assigns it doesn't matter as long as the folders are there.
You said we needed 001 and 002 Garlic OS image files, but you only flashed 001. Do we need to flash 002 as well?
Great question. No, you don’t flash 002, but you have to have it to unzip 001. I don’t understand why you have to do that, but you do. You don’t end up using 002 in the install process. You just have to have it downloaded alongside 001. It’s weird, but it works. Thanks for the question! Happy gaming, friend! 🙂
The two zips are part of the same archive. When you unzip 001 it also unzips the 002. The data is split between them
Ooooh. That makes so much sense. Thanks for the help! 🙂
Downloaded both files, cant extract the 1st one. I've deleted a redownloaded them both. In Winrar it says FileCorrupt
Are both files located in the same folder? Like the "Download" folder for example?
Do I need to buy a subscription for mini tool to resize the files or did I miss something?
No you don’t. But you have to download the free version. They try to hide it from us, but it’s there. 😂
Before u install there are two options demo and free…u have to checkmark the free version.
I had the same problem :/
I tried this and got it to boot successfully once again but then I put a couple of gameboy games on the sd card and it went back to freezing on the boot screen again. I've also tried disconnecting the battery.
Really? And all you have on there are a couple of GameBoy games? That's odd. Did you try using a new card? Or is it the same card that messed up before?
@@BoKnowsGaming yeah I bought a new 64gb SD card which seemed fine with just garlic os on it and it loaded the menu successfully but then I moved 3 Gameboy roms over and it went back to freezing on the load screen.
Hi I may have missed it but does this tutorial work for the RG35XX H ?
I’m also looking for this answer
No. This is for the original RG35XX and GarlicOS 1.x.x only.
im not seeing an img file once downloaded just a 001 and a 002 file under the type
You won’t see the img file until you’ve unzipped the 001 file.
On mine, there are no folders for roms. I've watched a few videos and none seem to fix it. I've re-downloaded and done the process loads of times but each time it has a load of files. The only folders say "dtbs" and "Modules". Can you help?
Same here
I don't have the numerous drives under the sd card either @@hakanschannel9252
Hey. So, the install actually creates two partitions on the sd card. So when you plug it into your computer, two separate drives should mount. One will have the folders you mentioned and "charger_frame" files and other things. The second one will have five folders in it, one of which is the ROMs folder. So check for a second mounted drive on your computer. Hope that helps! 🙂
Did you install with Balena Etcher?
Mine too .. even when I change drive letter for the fat 32 partition. It keep going back to fat 32 only... I can't access on that particular partition..
Where can i download the etcher there just isnt a download link on their website
There's a download button right in the middle of this page to get the app. etcher.balena.io/
I did the steps but mine isnt booting. It isnt even giving an error. It just doesnt boot? but when i insert the origion card that it came with it boots into the ambernic os fine?
Good job keeping your original card intact! That was a smart move. 👍
First, I want to make sure you have an original RG35XX. Not the Plus or H or 2024 model. This only works with the original RG35XX.
@@BoKnowsGaming i think it might be a 2024 model. dang.
belana etcher deletes the other drive and only installs the modual and boot up stuff. no ROMS SAVES or anything. HELP
That's odd. Balena Etcher doesn't delete anything. It essentially stamps an OS image onto a disk. Are you sure you followed this tutorial step-by-step?
Yes. or should I say, it Deletes my ROMS partition and only downloads modules and so on on the misc partition. it does the exact same with other firmwares. Not sure what's wrong. I am just kind of annoyed at it because now the RG35XX its just a brick lol.
@@BoKnowsGaming
Do you think it might be because i use the stock sd card?
@@BoKnowsGaming
I gotta be honest; I have no idea. I do know that the stock Anbernic card is trash and has caused other kinds of problems. So maybe getting a new one would work. But I can’t say that for sure. If you want to try a new one, I recommend this one from Lexar. It’s what I use. I’ve played for dozens and dozens of hours with no issues. It’s very affordable. amzn.to/3EDwCcF
@@BoKnowsGaming I think i have a sandisk 128 gig in my old switch. ill try it, Have fun with the seystem friend!
it helps me, when I clicked on apply in the minitool application, it asks me to pay for it
You need to make sure you're using the free version. That can be downloaded here: www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
And it may still have a pop up that asks you to pay for the Pro version, but you can just close that.
ok it works now
Yay! Success! 🙂👍
Don’t you need bios files? Im kinda new to this.
Great question! Thankfully, not for the retro systems this runs. Which makes the process a lot simpler. 🙂
drives dont show?
