Even when I'm sighting in something cheap to shoot like a 22, I do it the way you do. After sighting in a boat load of stuff you learn not to mess around. Good job only needing four rounds!!
Thank You Sir!! 👍👍
Thanks Kevin! I do the same thing even with the 22. Some people like to get all crazy with the way they site rifles in, a lot of them because that's the way that the military told them how to do it
I've a;ways done it that way, except that I always shoot a three round group when I'm done, for confirmation. Even at that, a laser bore sight would have saved you 2 rounds today.
The 45-70 will never die!
My favorite round
especially with states allowing use of shoulder less rifle cartridges. Just see it expanding more.
I love it! The bigger the better
@@frankwrogg2515 - I don't understand why some States banned the use of straight-walled cartridges. Glad some of those States are changing the laws.
4570 rifles
Just pulled over!been driving all day long!!Thanks for making them everyday, most of the time i watch your videos before hitting the road..God bless you!!!
Appreciate you watching!
Been watching your vids for quite some time & appreciate your content. 👏🏼
Really appreciate you watching Bruce!
45/70 gets a lot cheaper if you load your own. It's a very easy cartridge to reload. It is what got me into reloading.
Great video , keep em rollin
Great shooting and adjusting with those clicks, satisfying to watch
Thanks Joe! Sometimes I get lucky :-)
I just bought my Henry.45-70. I was going to get a good peep sight. Now I think I want one of these red dot scopes.
Nice and small. Not much for recoil to beat up.
Great video
🇨🇦👍
Who Tee Who in '92!! Good ole Larry! I'll never forget.
I'd never thought about getting a red dot until your videos. But now I am.
I can sure shoot it better than with using the iron sights
Great video and great shooting!!
Thanks heavy metal!
I am a big fan of big bore calibers. I have two Marlin 1895 rifles. One I keep in AK for trips into AK back country. The other is at my house and is big medicine for my lower 48 forays. My bullet of choice is Hornady interlock 350 gr, RNSP. My rifles seem to love this bullet. I like a medium load too.... IMR 3031, 50 gr. I think reloading is the way to go if you can swing it. MH
You do not need a screwdriver, coin or a bullet casing to adjust the the Styrka S3. Just use the cap that you removed to make your adjustments. Very good idea on Strykas part! Love it!
👍👍
Oh Yea, that's the way it's done, Great Job! That Styrka S3 looks Good on top the 1895!!
I sure love shooting it! It ended up working out really great!
Great video I have a 45-70 buck hornsights, you just made my mind up on my scope definitely the styrka Red dot? I’m sold!
I love this red dot a thousand times better than the iron sights on my 4570
Vid just popped up. Love it! Gonna put red dot 🔴 on my lever gun since I can’t see iron sights any more!
😜😜😜 I can definitely hit better with the red dot
Hey man, just picked up a Henry 45-70 All Weather myself, looking into some optic options. Great vid! Thanks
Dang dude thats my dream gun
"405 grains - nothing special" . . .Oh, well . . . Special enuff for me :-D
I think we all sight in our guns different thanks for sharing your way of doing it
Yup true. Thanks for watching!
Good job, 4 shots is pretty good for sighting her in. I dont usually do the three shot groups either, not until I get it where I want it then I'll fire three shots to make sure it wasnt me or that the scope maintains the zero.
Thanks Todd!
Deer and Hogs won't know what hit them when they are on the receiving end of that caliber. I have a new Marlin in 4570 caliber also that I need to take to the range and sight it in. Crazy thing is I've had it for over 2 years and have never shot the thing. Now you've encouraged me to get out there and get it sighted in.
💪💪
Way to go Cody!
Ralph Reagan no more rigged rests Cody came through.
great vid thanks
Thanks for watching
Great combo..... you are all set now. You need to start reloading for 45-70.... if you do, give the Hornady 350 grain interlock bullets a try. My Marlin loves them.
Ready!
Very nice accessory , looks like a keeper .
Ill never get rid of it!
I re-load for my 45-70. The cost here in Australia is $60 for 20 rounds. Great rifle I have the Marlin big loop ss.
Shewee that's a lotta $$$
That's on the money now. Very nice!
I love this setup!
Who tee is the man
Be aware. Shoot it with a cool barrel to be sure it hits where you sighted it to. A cold barrel is usually when you need it hitting
Heck yea..that set up is sweet
I love shooting this with a red dot
Nice dialing in....Good stuff...
Thanks Scott
It’s always a good day when your shooting a 45-70!
I agree!
How much better is the red dot scope in low light conditions than the peep id imagine a lot better. Also is the brightness adjustable on the scope for the dot? Ive used scopes with illuminated reticles and sometimes can be to bright in those low light conditions
Do you bore sight before going to the range? I usually take the bolt out of my 336 and make sure looking through the barrel and through the sights I see the same place at 50 yards. It's not exact, but I get on paper within a couple inches. It was a life saver when drifting my 336 factory rear sight.
I do if I remember
Good vid thankyou.
Thanks for watching!
When I'm zeroing in an optic with 22 long rifle, I do it the same way, one bullet at a time.
Nice results.
This was a fun one
I need a 45/70......yes I do👍
Don't forget the red dot :)
Yes you do!
Hey man. Awesome video. That's a very satisfying result with that red dot. I have recently ordered a new Marlin Model 1895 SBL 45/70 and I'm curious if it will be able to take a large variety of 45/70 loads? Have you had any issues with your 1895 and loading/firing/ejecting issues with different rounds/loads? What would be your recommendation on a whitetail deer cartridge for 45/70 that isn't so devastating? Looking forward to your reply! -Alex
I have had zero problems with my 1895 and have shot everything from soft cowboy loads to hot buffalo bore rounds
@@WHOTEEWHO thanks for the quick reply! I appreciate the feedback.
@@alexlampasona6956 thanks for watching!
@@WHOTEEWHO looking forward to more videos!
Everyone needs a 4570!! I'm showing this video to my wife!!
🤣👍👍
Hows the tascos p.o.i holding up on the bushmaster
AWSOME WTW 👍
You need a rifle vise if you are going to change sights around, it will save you a lot of ammo. If you don't know, the way it works is: you aim center of the target and fire a shot, then put the rifle in the vise and aim at the center of the target(where you aimed for the first shot) make sure it is stable; now adjust your sights to where the first shot hit on the target, this should get you very close with one shot.
Yeah but that rifle vise it's pretty expensive. I'd rather just buy a bunch of bullets 😂😂😂
Yeah. I like to shoot too, I just found its more fun to stuff I wanted to shoot than to sight in.
I suppose if I was rich I would have a vice 😃
LOL, you don't need to be rich to have a vice, just morally corrupt. Have a great day, and thanks for the vids.
LOL
Not much better eating than a corn fed white tail. I'm a Texas boy. Retired from the military in Utah. We've got Mule deer out here. Much larger but a lot gamier tasting. I need to get a 45-70 but most of my shots out here are 3-4 hundred + yards. 7mm Rem Mag has been my go to rifle for years. Using a Tikka T3 stainless with a 4X24X50 optic.
I love my 7mm rem mag
Howdy WHO_TEE_WHO, been hunting for a little over 6 years now. I use 17hmr for squirrels and 308 and 30-06 for deer and hogs. I have to admit I have always been a snob towards lever actions since I was a kid. Always loved bolt actions. That is what I have for my 3 rifles. For the last few few months I been itching to get into bigger bore calibers. After watching CZcams so long I been hearing how light and more maneuverable lever actions are in the woods. I have to admit my rifles are heavy and long compared to lever actions. Been looking at Marlin, Winchester, and Henry. I totally fell inlove with the Marlin 1895SBL and the Marlin 1895GS. My real question is whether I can handle the 45-70 Government. I shoot my 308 and 30-06 in 150 grain and I am good with it. I tried shooting 20 rounds of 30-06 in 180 grain in an indoor range in less than an hour. My shoulder was sore for almost a week. Is it because I shot it all in under an hour or I just can't handle it? Should I have kept practicing with the 180 grain rounds and perhaps I will get used to the recoil? This is the reason I am hesitating on getting the Marlins I mentioned because I may not be able to handle the 45-70. Come to think of it my shoulder was sore a few days after shooting 308 and 30-06 in 150 grains at first but not any more. If you can help me out on this I really would appreciate. I really love them two Marlins. I want to use them for hogs, bear, elk, and moose one day. Thanks.
I shoot a lot of big guns no problem. The 1895 is the only one that makes my shoulder sore. If you know what you are doing you can handle it no problem
4570 is expensive ammo though
Ok. Thanks. Will do more research on this round before I buy the rifle. Thank God I won’t be plinking with this round like a 22.
Time to go stack'em up now. Happy hunting brother.
Im ready! Gun season not til Nov for deer :(
Be a good idea to keep your live ammo behind the muzzle blast. Sighted in four shots, wish I could do that!
Good idea! Yeah doesnt always happen in 4!
I always sight in my rifle with the ammo I'm going to hunt with. The point of impact will change with different brands.
I don't :-) at the distances I hunt it has never made a difference
@@WHOTEEWHO Oh ya. You said close range at the beginning of the video.
best job sighting in.
😆😆😆👍👍
Woohoo who tee who !!!!
Hey Fred! Whoteewho!!!
Whooot-Whoooot!
Sounding off.... Who tee whoooooo
WHOTEEWHO!!!
Mr. WHO_TEE_WHO you are making me want to put a red dot on my 45-70 instead of Skinner or Ghost Ring sights....Would be great to have a follow up on how it works out for hunting and at what ranges....Thanks again!
I absolutely plan on using it to take a few Whitetail once gun season opens up
Wouldn't you want to sight in the scope with the actual ammo you will use for hunting? Different ammo could have different point of impact.
Nah not at this close of range. At further distances, yes would make a differwnce
You’re welcome 🤗
Hi,how is the red dot at 100 yards?does it cover alot when you aim deer or target...
Havent tried 100 yards yet. Just sited it in at 50 yesterday. This one is 2.5 moa, so i would imagine would work just fine at 100 yds
That's pretty cool what's the roundabout cost of it
I put a link to them on Amazon in the description of the video. The cheapest I have seen them is around $200
so what are the 2 distances that you are now sighted in at????..... 50 yards and 175??
I don't know about the further yardage
@@WHOTEEWHO I will check a chart and get back to you.....how high is your red dot above your bore??
Not sure ill have to measure
So 45-70 while it can reach further ranges it’s really only recommended for 100-400 yards give or take so is an optic over irons worth it at all?
I like optics. Not a fan of iron sights
If you take the sights off. Would you have to re-sight if you take it off for transportation?
You wouldn't have to, but it would be a good idea to test it out when you put it back on
WHO_TEE_WHO thanks I have a hard case and I haven't taken it to the range sighted because it won't fit mounted. An I'm tired of the thought of sighting in everytime thanks
I have done it many times with my slug gun and was dead on when i put it back on
Make a mark on the rifle and the sight when it's mounted and zeroed, that way when you take it off and on you can put it right back in the exact same spot. That should keep you very close.
🖒🖒
I 🖤 Styrka S3 Rifle
Meee too
That went well. White tails out there: there's plenty of room in the freezer ;)
Plenty of room! I actually always give all of the me away. I am not a good cook
Awesome! Help me out!
This is turning into tinder.com, but for hunting and cooking! :-D
🖒🖒
WhoTeeWho: First all the cow tongue recipes, and now (hopefully) deer, too. Hmmn, perhaps a new idea for some videos: "you shoot, I cook" (or the other way around).
You cracked me up at 4:26! Funny! I just made a video on reloading 45-70 for a bargain in case you were interested.
Bro you need to start reloading 45-70 and getchya a limb saver ya hear!?
Yeah i know it
Absolutely and there are some great molds for the 45-70. Make your own boolits and the price per round is really low.
If you switch to a 300 gr or 325 ftx how far off will that dot be since you sighted in with the 405 gr????
Not much off
Beautiful rifle
I love the 4570!
@@WHOTEEWHO the stock is very pretty
Walnut wood
Hearing you say 45-70 is not cheap. I bought two boxes on Sunday at $49.98 a box. Crazy. I know this video is old. But so am i. LOL
Big fan you have come along way W T W
🙏🙏🙏
WHOOOOO TEEEEEE WHOOOOOO
Hey WTW.....I ve never even thought about a red dot for hunting.... What are the real pros and cons? Would it work in low light at 300 yards are a coyote for example....? Curious...
I have since become not a fan of red dots 😄. Rather have a scope
@@WHOTEEWHO Gotcha thanks.
Sorry to hit you with tons of questions ,,,but....I'm torn between the CVA cascade and the Ruger American in 22-250. Price is similar......I'd be hunting pig, yotes, and deer..........Help. do you have a preference or are they both great?
Cva cascade hands down a better rifle. No comparison.
@@WHOTEEWHO Awesome.. Man I really appreciate your input...thank you
Yeap! I think one of those would look real nice on my Henry!
Ooh a henry! Very nice!
WHO_TEE_WHO It's a 45-70 AW. The one with the all weather finish. Love it!!
Ooh wanna trade???
WHO_TEE_WHO Lol! Oh no Sir!!
I already have a Winchester and Marlin 1894s. I've been looking for an optic that would look good on the Henry with the AW finish and able to take the weather. I think this one might work!
I sure love it on this one!
I’m gonna get one if you haven’t sold them out!!!
Which MOA scope did you choose? 2.5 or 5?
Don't remember
awesome
Thanks for watching Willie!
I saw in another video that the 4570 was too much for a red dot ?
Nice rifle! I would have saved my money and put a Skinner aperture sight on it. Your rifle would be so beautiful without that red dot on it. But to each their own.
how do the skinner sights do in low light like dusk and dawn while hunting in the brush?
@@blurryface1975 in these type of situations you need to move the small aperture and go with the big ghost ring but in low light a good scope you will be able to see better
@@brianlee6849 alright thanks. i guess that puts my decision between a red dot or a regular scope
@@blurryface1975 If you are going to be hunting in heavy brush you want a low power scope with high field of view like a Leopold 1.25 * 4. Check the specs on the scope on the field of view that will be at 100 yards so if you're going to be shooting at 25 yards you have to divide that by 4. If you have a higher power scope at 25 to 50 yd it can become very difficult to find your target because the field of view is so small. Leopold has a 1.25x4 that is very good for low light situations which should be perfect for what you're planning to do. A four powers plenty good enough to 300 yd. The only scope I ever owned was a four power and I was very accurate out to 300 yards with it but I couldn't find anything close because it was a fixed. Hope this helps you. I'm going to stick with my aperture sight when it starts getting dark I'll go home. LOL 🤣
@@brianlee6849 yea. i know i want low power, i try to explain that to people all the time that its a benefit while hunting. i have a vortex 1-4x24 on one of my other rifles that has worked out pretty good in the past. im hoping maybe ill find a 1-6 or 1-8 within my price range for this new setup im going for. im just worried the rifle will be overall heavier than i was going for to begin with, thats why i had been considering the red dot, mainly for its small size and weight
will this work on a 45-70 T/C Contender
The red dot? It will work on pretty much anything
You need to make some more modifications to your shooting bench. It needs a seat to sit on.
Oh everything costs money
lol shoulder to self, i want a beating. myself, let me oblige you. priceless.
wonder if you would hold at 100 like a 556 lollypop style. asking for a friend.
another good one.
Morning. Would you consider making some varmint calling videos?
Planning on it. I bought some calls, but it will probably be after deer season is over in January
Now if you miss......swing your foot far forward, then hard back and kick yourself in the butt! Whoteewho!!!
True!😂😂😂
What did they soak you for that red dot sir?
Hmm I forget, but I want to say around $200
@@WHOTEEWHO thank you.
I always have change in my pocket. Usually a penny or a dime works great for sight adjustments. Also A boresighter will save you a Butt load of money on ammo during sight in I use this one www.midwayusa.com/product/212999/bushnell-bore-sight-with-15-fixed-arbors. Make the elevation adjustment FIRST. Then do windage. Shouldn't take more than 3-5 rounds to dial that beast in. At 50 yards All 45/70 loads shoot low. They have a Rainbow trajectory. So sight them at least 3 inches high at 50 yards. Great stuff WTW!
Thanks Decimus!
Great video!! Love that red dot!! Do you think Cody could make me a shooting table and ship it to AZ!! ( Lol ) Rich 😁😁🔫🔫🔫👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Im sure he could, but would cost quite a bit to ship the wood probably 😂
Oh man you scoped another lever gun!
Yeah buddy! I love it!
Well, I'm not going to put a red Dot on my Marlin 1895. I use it for long range in cowboy action shooting. I have a Lyman peep sight, and have taken it out to 300 yards with that sight.
Sweet. I probably couldnt hit the broad side of a barn at 300 yds 😂
If your happy that's all that matters
Very true
Ha. No excuses now! LOL
Nope! 😂😂😂
What distance did u zero?
25 yds
You should be able to fill your freezer now
I hope!😂😂😂
My OCD would want that thing PERFECTLY centered. LOL
What's a 22 yes, but not with bullets that cost over $2 a piece 😂😂😂
John Stilwell: Sure is a difficult one - off by a hair or two, and over two bucks a round . . . That's when the "that's too darn expensive" wins over the "b-b-b-but it could still be more perfect" ;)
I would spend the money. That is how bad my OCD is. lol
LOL
Perfect leave her alone
How much $$$ did the styrka set ya back?
I put a link to them on Amazon in the description. The cheapest I have seen the red. Is right around 200
