How I Keep My Arms in Shape at 77

- Now that I am approaching my 77th birthday in a couple of weeks it seems like a good time to give you a review of my whole Arm Routine. I can absolutely assure you that if you are consistent and do this routine every other day you will see results in 3-6 months. Many women are self conscious of their upper arms but creating muscle tone goes a long way in changing that. I do not believe that women should worry about showing their arms at any age. But if it bothers you there is something you can do to change the shape of your upper arm and shoulder area.

It's so nice to see an older woman showing us how she stays in shape instead of some twenty something showing us. I'm 77 also and will shortly be 78.
Agreed. I don't wanna watch someone who is in their 50s doing it. I was fine til I hit 64. Totally different story.

Helping women get into shape is wonderful. As a Personal Trainer for 20 years, I would recommend that you bend your knees a little while doing your Bicep Moves, it helps to take the stress off of your lower back. Happy Working Out!

Bicep moves? I saw 5 shoulder moves and a tricep kickback. No biceps moves here.
@@bethhayes1 I stand corrected. Thanks. What I should have said is that with any upper body exercises, it is recommended to bend the knees slightly to prevent stress on the lower back.
I agree! 😃 So many of them they either go to a gym or have all this exercise equipment in their homes, and I think “Well that’s not happening.” ☹️ Simple is best! 😊
I have never been able to do Biceps as I have a problem with my elbow joint.@@bethhayes1

Thanks for keeping it simple. Other people make it so complicated and intimidating. I’m going to suggest, when you’re bent over, that you don’t crane your neck to look up/forward. You should be looking down at the floor so your neck remains in alignment with the rest of your spine and doesn’t get strained.

You look beautiful and natural. I love that you said you don't need to have gym gear or a membership having weights at home is all you need. My mum is in her 70's too she looks beautiful like you and exercises everyday using weights everyday. She loves it.

You look amazing, this is honestly the way to go. I see so many people who are older that look like they have just let themselves go, that it makes me honestly not want to get old myself. But seeing you here close to 80 makes me realize i don't have as much to fear as I thought.

I'm 69 and boy was there a lot of popping and cracking going on when I did these exercises. But I will keep going. Thank you for the video.
Don't hurt yourself. Start with low weights and less reps. Cracking and popping is not goodLOL
Lighter weight...or no weight...more reps. I'm 76 with arthritis everywhere. Do just what you can do. No pain, no gain...NO GOOD! Also depends on it you had any serious injuries...broke my shoulder in 3 places...cannot do certain movements, ranhe of motion is limited...so i remember that!
Love this! I’m 81 and have had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders in past years. I am beginning to have weakness and pain in both shoulders again and am going to start off using 1 and 2 pound weights to do this routine. None of these should cause damage and increasing strength is important in maintaining function

I love that you wear things that reveal your arms. Most ladies in their seventies cover up all of their bodies (which I understand) but it's also lovely to see you wear sleeveless! Yay!

Thank you! That’s what I need. I’m also 77. I can carry five gallon jugs of water, but my arms are so skinny, so I have loose skin, which I hate. So I’ve been wanting to develop some muscle mass in my arms to make them look better.

You absolutely can but you have to be consistent and do the routine every other day. You should expect to start seeing results in three months. But great definition by 6.

Fabulous! I'm more inclined to follow a routine when the teacher isn't decades younger than me.
If you don't mind me adding a suggestion: Do the exercises outside if possible in the morning sunlight. We really need that light on our retina and skin. Thank you for inspiring us! 🌞
Thanks for these arms excerises. I do some with another channel, but this will change it up for me. I am 68 on Wegovy and need to keep the muscles and strength in tac.
Your arms look great! Thanks for the clear demo here, great inspiration for me to dial back to five lbs so I could do some of those that I can’t do with the 8s and 10s. It hadn’t occurred to use fivers and just increase the reps. Thanks!

When you use the heavier weights you bulk up, not tone up. Men like to bulk up and they always suggest to women to use heavier weights to see results. If you want to look feminine, more reps with lighter weights.

I spend years learning to walk and talk again etcetera. I haven't got mutch strenght but I wan to keep the strenght that I regained. Sorry for spelling mistakes. English is not my native language.
I am a 77 year old female and I make sure that I take in enough protein every day because protein has a lot to do with muscle strengths and how your skin looks. Adding extra protein to my diet was a game changer for me with my skin on my arms losing their crepe look as well as in my face, even my husband asked what I was doing. Adding extra protein also can increased your muscle strengths, I am still very active, I walk every day for 30 minutes and do stair stepping trying to stay as fit for my age as I possibly can besides lifting weights for my arms as you are doing. Sitting around all day would be detrimental to my health so I keep on moving and the extra protein intake really made a huge difference in the way my skin looks.

Very motivating- I started pushups 10 yrs ago- I’m 67 now - and my arms became well toned but now pushups hurt my wrists so these exercises are a good alternative

Thank you… I’m about 1.5 years out on one shoulder and 10 months out on the other from shoulder replacement… and at the end of PT… the muscle loss is really something… I am using weights at this point but going to give your routine a try… looks very rounded. Some side movement is still a little strained on one side but I’m aware of being careful… going to ck out your channel thanks

I have always been told from trainers at the gym that exercises should be done every other day to give the muscle a chance to repair from the workout, may I ask if you do this every day or every other day, I will take your advice because you look fantastic!
