  • DtRockstar1 records the 2012 Detroit APBA Gold Cup, featuring the Unlimited Hydroplane boats during qualifying. These boats use turbine engines with up to 3,000 horsepower. You'll hear the turbine engines spooling, as well as high speed passes and rooster tail turns. This video also features my own self composed music.
    The song is "Jumping the Wake," composed entirely by me and I own all the rights to the music.

    I'm surprised this sport isn't more popular, I enjoyed this more than some of the auto racing events I've seen. Thank you for the kind comments!

      Detroit use to pack the shore with over 500,000 I rode my bike from alter Rd to see them testing never missed a year between 1974 to 2013 Detroit loves the
      "Thunder boats" I love the roar these brave pilots with their flying machines they were Giants in my day, getting into these monsters & taming them for a while, maybe even to finish
      To me was crazy
      I LOVED IT!
      THANK YOU But. LITTLE
      & BUD for all the years
      YOU ROCKED ME & pushed the fleet to a safe & exciting sport

    yeah, that's one of the many reasons why they call Detroit the Motor City, as they'll find a way to race anything :) man these hydroplane powerboats are highly impressive machines! i'd sure like to see them race in person, i can only imagine that it certainly must be a lot of fun and quite a spectacle to watch them race. you also captured some amazing footage of parts of Downtown Detroit, its skyline and the RenCen. very nice !

    Darryl, that is an excellent question! It amazes me that this sport doesn't get the kind of recognition it deserves, it's badass!

  • @DtRockstar1
    @DtRockstar1  Před 12 lety

    Yeah that would be catastrophic. Though most of the flips happen on the rooster tail turn, so it is unlikely that they would fly toward us.

    Darryl, have you looked on the links page of the H1 website? There's a games section with a link to HydroMod, which is a mod for the racing game rFactor. We've been developing it since late 2007.

    It's more like $1,000,000 or more for the hull and each turbine engine is about $100,000.

    those things are sick. but standing in a bad place though, not trying to be negative but if they crash on that turn, it would fly straight at you guys.

    there are also arcade machines which host a rip off game which has the same physics, speed and rules but with different maps and boats, called H2Overdrive.

    I have a question If one of these boats were built with very light weight material could they take off into flight like this RC Hydrofoam HydroFlyers RemoteControl Boat Car Planes?

    • @DtRockstar1
      @DtRockstar1  Před 8 lety

      +Scott Whitney It happens a lot. They won't actually start flying like an airplane, but they'll take off and do flips in the air. Just do a CZcams search for powerboats crashing or flipping through the air.

    • @scottvomit3
      @scottvomit3 Před 8 lety

      I know they flip and crash I have seen that happen.What I am asking is can they be converted for normal hovering and flight?Like Hydro Boat Plane RC. And has that ever been done?Or Attempted Yet?

    My question is what is taking so long for an Unlimited Hydro Plane Video Game.
    Boat race fans around the world are hungry for this HELP!

    unlimidid hidroplanes do not have turbine engins they have hellicopter engins

    • @bluestingray67
      @bluestingray67 Před 6 lety +1

      Actually they are turbine helicopter engines, not to be confused with jets. They turn a propeller on the boat instead of a rotor on the helicopter.
