Rusted Antique Kitchen Scale - Restoration
    Hello! How are you doing?
In this video i show to you how to restore a rusted antique kitchen scale, the brand of this little tool is Bender, unfortunately i couldin't find informations about this brand.
This little scale have 50 Years old and was used to mesure foods but not with precision.
I started disassemble with a iron saw just to unlock the screw, i didin't have ani tool that fits that place where the screw was.
After that i use my plier to open the locks on the base but as you can see i had to drill a hole to remove the weld that hold the dish.
I also make a hole to remove the mechanism.
Now i could remove the iron case that protects the mechanism.
After the case and the base removed i begin disassembly the rusted mechanism, which was very rusted.
To remove the rust and the old paint i made electrolysis, if you want a tutorial video about this process just take a look on the channel videos.
I let all the pieces in electrolysis for 6 hours, is enough time to remove all the rust and paint.
I also brushed all the parts and washed them.
You could see there are a lot of sharpen edges, so i use a hand drill with a rotative file to remove those sharpen edges.
After this step is done i use my bench grinder to brush all parts and smooth the surcafe of the pieces.
Now with all parts brusheds i can paint them, to paint i used 2 coats of Primer and 2 coats of Retro Green.
I gave a special touch to the screws polishing them.
To the spring i use cold bluing to protect and prevent to rust again and let it set in the oil for one day.
I clean the logo brand just with water and soap and applied clear coat to protection.
And all is ready to assemble.
I assemble all the parts and put some screws on the weld dots to hold everything.
I didn't make a final test cause i don't knew how to regulate the scale.
The restoration ended well and i liked the result. What do you think?

Nice refurbishing project. I would have printed out a more easier to read scale plate and paint the point some other color to show the reading easier. But that is just me. You did a very nice repair and it looks great... Thumbs Up!

Why is it that none of the restoration guys on CZcams ever bolt down their vice to the workbench?

I really want to watch your videos but your killing me with what appears to be some kind of OCD. Not interested in watching real time of you removing every screw as slowly as possible and then showing a picture of the screw for 5 seconds. Take some notes on editing from some of the other successful restoration channels. Hope you don't take offense, I like your work, just some constructive criticism.

Thanks for your comment! I'm sorry if bothered you when i show the disassemble of the screws and showed again how they are. I always liked to record and make a video super detailed for anyone think that i do not restored some piece. I'll try to make better in my new project.
      Again, thanks for your comment!❤
