I went past today and I bloody love the concrete block out the front. There should be more giving back to the street. What a lovely gesture.
I want a house this fun! I think I'm just studying architecture so I can eventually build my own sustainable, biophilic dream house filled with secret doors and cubby houses :D
Very nice..😊made me smile!! My grandies would love this place. I am old but I would even like a slide from upstairs to downstairs. A swing inside would be great too. Old doesn't mean boring! Love the storage under stairs like a tiny home has.
Loved it, great to hear Architects talk through their work whilst using it! Architects showing us what they've done and why - rather than just uploading some nice parti diagrams or photographs and moving onto the next project
omg, this is a dream house for every kid! Must be fun to hide and climb.
great job
Crazy cool house! Nice référence 👌
Seems like it was really nice, fun project 😉😊
Someone just sent me a message saying “I watched, and honestly, I just wanted to punch you in the face”. Constructive feedback. Lol.
I’ll try that in the next episode
Such a fun house. Love the creative attention to detail
such a fun house. loved the idea of double functional entities... for some reason I loved the detail of the terrace parapet and the staircase. if we could see the sections of the play area and staircaise..... that would be amazing.
The sectional model early on, try that. If not, go to Austin Maynard Architects’ website
Love the attention to detail
I walk past this place daily. I was always curious about what the rest of the design and layout is like since very little of it is visible from the road. I suspected it would be something special. It's very satisfying to get the chance to peak inside. This is very inspiring and thank you for contributing to the creativity in the area.
Haha. Apparently the little old lady said EVERYONE hate the concrete seat/coffin. Happy to hear you enjoy it’s presence.

.... we take fun really seriously ...anybody
that's not having fun he's wasting their time ..."
epitomises my very take on life right there too ....
from my 2 favourite quotes from Charles Eames - 'Take your pleasure seriously "
& Ben & Jerry's - "If it's not fun, why do it?"
Awesome Video (editing & production ... script & actor!? too hahaha) ...
and yes I'd also like to live here too ! :-D
and i wasn't expecting that "450" at the front of the house ...
can appreciate it does give back to the public ...
AMA can make Archi's proud of themselves as professionals !
We are aiming to have some fun celebrating architecture and making the design thinking more accessible to the public. Thanks for your comments. More to come
Very nice video.
Thanks
Haha, I just noticed a small glitch, oh well. And yes, noob mistake with the flickering exposure for one of the dialogue clips. We are pros here you can see!
awesome
AMA needs to make a tree house so climbing would be mandatory!
That house is ritveld and loos in one. Love the custom details of doors and steps. They really landed a open minded client. With a little extra cash too.
Andrew can you tell us how many details a project like this required in documentation phase? Also you must have bloody good trades to execute them. Do you experience any major push back or are they genuinely excited to test their abilities?
Great question! We’ll save this one for our Q&A episode, coming out in a couple of weeks. Subscribe and stay tuned.
you two are the best. keep posting the good work
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this kind of a journey through one specific project, expect you guys to introduce more of these to us!
Stay tuned. We have a few coming up
Lovin' these project tours, more please!
We have some planned.
I can tell that you are beginning creators, but what I love is that you own it! You aren't taking yourself too seriously, just like the house. Its about fun!
I have high hopes for your practice and this channel!
Thanks. That was our very first video
@@Archimarathon Well its one hell of a first video, you have earned my subscription
Thanks. Check out some of the more recent videos, though we have been in lockdown so we couldn’t be in the same space together. Enjoy.
Great. I had so much fun watching.
We had fun sharing
The house has so much to give... it's inviting and smart as well. Loved the design.. thanks to the Architects. :)
You guys are classic 😁👌
I love the fact that every corner/compartment/component of the house serves more than one purpose...each user's needs are meticulously considered including their cat. Great video cannot wait to see more..
Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for putting in the effort! Good to see a no bs video about interesting ideas and problem solving! Looking forward for the next one.
Thank you. We are looking forward to making the next ones too. Any thoughts on what you would like to see?
Would like to see much more of these videos & the thought process of architect behind creating these master pieces. Love your work ❤️ watched all your videos.
Thanks. That’s quite a feat!
it was lovely to go thorough to one of your projects..
definitely loved this one !!
wow i really liked this video! gotta say your videos are really cool to watch. i love the detail that you guys put into explaining things! just on this home - in lockdown and with kids, this home would be such a godsend with all the different ways it can provide activities! my kids wouldve loved this!
I love it! 🙌 thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it. Cheers
Love you!
This house is incredible! I am a massive fan of all those tiny moments/details within the house! The narration explaining the spaces is really useful too, giving us an insight into the process behind the purpose. I am also slightly Jealous of how sunny it looks there in comparison to the UK!
Damn this is such epic design!
It's only took me a few episodes but I've now realised you are the architects behind most of these episodes ☺️
Andrew Maynard is. I am not. Most episodes are not of Andrew’s work.
@@Archimarathon sorry I meant to say Andrew. This episode was super fun! I'm sure the owners love living in this one.
That was our very first video.
@@Archimarathon great first video! I'm diving back into all your videos. I loved the one about The Shrine
Many interesting and energetic ideas in this house! I’m trying to redesign my little house and it really inspired me. Great design and great video! Very detailed explanation and quality clips. Please post more like this hhh
Andrew and I just spent the afternoon filming another episode. This time not a house but more traditional Archimarathon
Archimarathon can’t wait 😊
Amazing house! Just about to start my Masters of Architecture this year and AMA have always been a huge inspiration for me. Keep up the great content, looking forward for more videos!!!
Have you also seen the interview I did with Andrew last year on Drawing?
Archimarathon not yet, but will asap
Great work! I'm a long time follower on Instagram. Can't wait to see more content. I can definitely see your videography improving by starting a CZcams channel. Really appreciate all of the commentary as an architect as well.
Thank you. What kind of videos or topics would you like to see?
@@Archimarathon Honestly, my favorite is your b-roll footage from your architecture tours set to some chill music. Seeing a building in motion is always better than still photography for me. You have an eye for good shots, so put em all together and call it a video. Nothing too long, just the good shit.
Thanks for the feedback. Actually I find looking for the right music the most difficult part of all
@@Archimarathon A lot of people use Epidemic Sound. There's a monthly fee, but it may be worth it if you're going to be uploading more.
migimack Yes I am aware of Epidemic Sound but I don’t like their licensing structure where you are only allowed to use their stuff during the time of the subscription. I use Artlist and the license for the music is perpetual. Still, it’s about finding the right music for the footage and setting the right vibe which I find difficult.
Loving the videos. As an ex PPB'er quite pleased to have found them, really gives me a vibe of the forum in a strange way!
PushPullBar Forever!!
Long live PushPullBar. :(
@@Archimarathon stupid hackers!
@@ryanhodge8714 You know about our refugees group on Facebook?
@@Archimarathon yeah i found it, and was glad to see it! Glad there is still a network there.
Very interesting project and very well explained! Love those details . Any link were I can see plans?
I am not sure but you can see there is a link to maynardarchitects.com site in the description below the video

Great 'walk through'... though at the end of it I could only say that the architect of the house was a camera flirt... 🤣
He sure is. This was also our very first video
Hope you guys don't mind me silent shadowing, I'm going into architect after graduation
Amazing detailing and thought AMA. But that must all come at a cost, and likely out of reach of the other 99%. What was the cost per metre of dwelling?
just want to be the first thumbs down to show how much I like it.
Awesome!! It still counts as an interaction.
How many jobs are designed for execute to keep all your trades employed by you've so they don't go up there to do their own or other companies jobs
Hi, would you ever be willing to share the plans of this build?
It’s all here. www.archdaily.com/949886/union-house-austin-maynard-architects
Hey I'm wondering who supplied the CLT??
Fenster & Panel, according to Andrew
Cheers mate. Love what yas are doin by the way!
Thanks the the support Nick. Please spread the word
Yeah no worries
do you really want peoples feet to be at the same height as your kitchen counter?
Who is the target audience? Broke architecture students who cant afford to travel? Busy architects looking for new ideas who dont have the time to travel? Or Bob the regular citizen who just wants to see cool shit? Each of these viewer types would have different understanding of the same content and would require different levels of information in the videos to stay engaged.
I think Bob. We are going to get architects interested anyway. We should make architecture more accessible to the public.

Thanks for the link
@@Archimarathon Thank you. This "Bob" is working her way through all your videos and learning soooooo much as well as seeing buildings I may never have the privilege to travel to in "real life" and collecting inspiring ideas to day dream on. Really appreciate the thinking behind the technical details and the many discussions of the historic sources of some of these in the public buildings. Cheers.
