  • We're now in Bansko - Bulgaria. The biggest ski resort in east Europe. And as you can see, Mork is under the snow and outside goes between -5 and -17 degrees.
    We're so lucky to be Webasto Embassador and have the new Air Top 2000 under the van.
    Inside we're warm and cozy, with a 21 to 24 degrees temperature. Not bad at all.

      @@mikewierda I installed it inside under the back couch seat. drilled two holes in the floor to allow for the air intake and exhaust tubes to run / vent outside. i bought the gas model so I could tap into / T-off of my gas line coming off the tank.

    Armando, thank you for producing this video. The team that is currently building our van out will use the same Webasto as you have, but then using Benzin. Glad you have a positive review on this system. I really like the multi control system. I'll have to check if we will get the same.

      @@Westfaliadigitalnomads The van will be ready in march of this year. So, starting April we will be on the road. We have already decided to go to Scotland in August. That will be the first time after 14 years that we return to that beautiful place. In the meantime short trips are planned in April and May to get to know the van and see what needs to be added with regard to cutlery and flatware, pans etc. Also to see how the solar panel will be able to charge the battery etc. In June i give workshops in France so I will travel with the van there. The van will be both holiday travel and daily transport. It is a 2013 OpelCombo L2 that will be converted by the people of minicamper.nl.

  • @EnglishVeteran
    @EnglishVeteran Před 5 lety +1

    The Webssto is a high quality heater for sure.
    Listening to your description I worked out some interesting stats:
    1 Ltr of Diesel every 4 Hrs. = £1.30 (English prices) an hour. Running it 24 hrs a day as you seem to do at the moment = £7.80 a day. A month = £241.80. Running it only 12Hrs a day = £120.90.
    Energy. I think you said 1-2 Amps per hour. Let’a say on average 1.5 Amps per hour. In 24 Hours you would draw 36 Amps. With low Solar in the winter you are using much much more than can be generated by Solar power alone.
    The Chinese heaters seem quite economical but use more power & have a 24hr guarantee!

    • @Westfaliadigitalnomads
      @Westfaliadigitalnomads  Před 5 lety

      about the diesel is right, but also depends which country, now here is 1euro per Lt. much better. About the Amps I think also depends on batteries we have. We got now two new gel 110A each. and even with small sun during the day stil charge good. Anyway we are attached to electricity right now, so no worries :)

    • @nickj409
      @nickj409 Před 5 lety

      Sorry but I think you made a typo. If its 1 litre of diesel every 4 hours, then its only £1.30 an hour if the diesel youre buying is £5.20 per litre.

    I've seen a couple of videos with chinese diesel heaters and the most annouing thing about them is the ticking noise from the pump.Is that an issue with the webasto?Is there a particular reason why you installed a diesel and not a gasoline webasto?I mean,your van is running on gasoline so you have to carry extra fuel for your heating instead of having it drawing fuel from the vehicle fuel tank,the diesel has problems with cold weather(at least in my country,Greece,with the low quality diesel we have)it is gelling.

    • @strofimios
      @strofimios Před 3 lety

      My bad,i 've just saw the engine swap video and guess what,your van is a diesel!Most of them T4 are with the gas ehgine in my country so you got it.So the the question about the choice of fuel for the webasto is answered!

    • @Westfaliadigitalnomads
      @Westfaliadigitalnomads  Před 3 lety +1

      you can hear the ticking when it start, then anyway the webasto it's outside so it's not a big issue. I choose diesel as also the one before was the same and I had all the connection with the diesel tank under.

      It really depends where you mount the fuel pump. I have mine mounted outside of the cabin area and it cut down on the noise by quite a bit. I'm planning to relocate it under the camper to try and completely eliminate the sound.

      Hi roamingsmurph. I'm also in Alberta and going to try surviving the winter in my van conversion. Just about to do my build.Do you know if the AT2000 better than using a diesel heater? Did you have any problems with altitude this winter?

    • @twowheeledsmurph
      @twowheeledsmurph Před 4 lety +1

      @@KiralearnsNorwegian Hi Kira :) . I haven't had any issues with my heater and i've used it at a range of altitudes here in Alberta. I don't understand the question about using the AT2000 vs a diesel heater. Do you mean a separate diesel heater? My AT2000 uses diesel from the main tank. I also bought one of the cheaper chinese diesel heaters to try out and I use it in my garage sometimes. It has worked flawlessly but i prefer the Webasto's timer function since the display doesn't always have to be on. But for $200, it's another worthwhile option. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!
