      @ganymedes62 Před 2 lety

      Yes it is. What I like most, though is that you don't have to walk huge distances to get from concourse A to concourse F. The only current problem is that a lot of the short flights are getting cancelled because of too few employees at security and baggage handling.

    • @kevonvideo
      @kevonvideo Před rokem

      @@ganymedes62 Max distance is about 1,8 km, from B35 to H7. Once the A-concourse opens (still being constructed), it will even be over 2 km. Quite the trek for some people, especially with large stretches with no travelators, notably between B and C. But plenty of shopping and restaurants on the way of course.

    Every time I fly from Schipol the following happens. I go to Holland for business.
    I arrive at check in and hand over my ticket and passport. The screen lights up and immediately the operator looks surprised, shocked sometimes. I can only see the back of the screen of course. I walk over to the first security. It is as if they are expecting me. There is what I assume is a security desk maybe 50m down the hall to the left just before the door to the Xray and search. There are always 2 or 3 men behind this desk who stare at me with grins on their faces. I never catch anyones eye. There is a reason for that. All the time I spend beyond first security and the final security I am followed. Often overtly. I visit Schipol abt once per year. For the past 3 years I have been followed by the same man.
    No I am not paranoid !! I used to work in the PI industry, but not in airports. I have known people who did tho`. I know how it works.
    Once or twice on my way to the plane I have wandered into the toilet for a pee. Every time I have done this over the years, around 30 seconds later the main door bursts open with a crash and my tail enters rapidly staring straight at me. By that time I am usually rinsing my hands. I just look up casually then carry on with my business.
    Also my briefcase has always has to go through each Xray at least twice
    I have no criminal record of any description in any country, airport or other, I have never been required to go through anything other than the same bog standard security as everyone else, anywhere, even at Schipol, but I always get the reaction at check in, the tail, the Xrays and the little "surprises" (That are used to try to panic a suspect so they give themselves away). For some reason Schipol has a mark against my name, and it happens EVERY time !!! It is classic overt surveillance. They are actually trying to pressure you into the sort of discomfort body language, eye contact etc so that you will give yourself away.
    I could invent some fun of my own to make them look silly, but there is a downside to that. That being they will most likely have the last laugh by detaining you until after your plane has gone. Then you have to buy another ticket. So thats why I just play gently
    along with it. In some ways its quite fun

      Is it possible you might share a name, or have a name similar to, that of a known troublemaker? Or maybe a number on your passport that might be flagging something? It happened to someone I knew years ago and he had the WORST issues with airport security.

    • @admiralbenbow5083
      @admiralbenbow5083 Před rokem +1

      @@jenniferburchill3658 That is possible, however info like that tends to get passed around, but I never have this experience at any other airport in the World. My family name is unique. Two fairly common names hyphenated, but that could cause some confusion of course.
      Another odd thing is that if they consider me to be worth all the trouble they are going to then why do they not just stop me, take me away and search me, question me etc and be done with it?

I am travelling to Amsterdam next month and I am wondering if US/Canadian citizens can use automated immigration control eGates when they exit the Netherlands (or other EU country) to non-EU country (like flying back to the US). I see conflicting info on whether US/Canadian citizens can use automated immigration control eGates from certain EU countries. Thanks.

      It is reasonably easy to find your way on Schiphol (this) airport. The signs are usually very clear. Also there are everywhere infodesks. And if that's not enough there are many stewardesses and stewards, police, security, a.s.o. walking around who can help you. :-)
