They said to come back in an hour. Within the hour I found your video. My locations was off at the time. I didn’t know you could activate it by clicking on Lost Mode on another device that uses the same account (used my iPad) until this video. I thought if you select "Erase My iPhone" it prevents tracking and if its stolen isn't that what you would want.

I lost my iPhone 13, 5 days ago after purchasing it. 1st thing immediately after purchasing the phone make sure that you purchase AppleCare with 'Lost and Stolen' benefits not the Basic package which was not offered to me by the Sales Dept. They asked me if I wanted AppleCare with my purchase and of course said yes not knowing that they offered different levels. These phones are expensive, needless to say. ($700) Make sure before you leave the store or before finishing the purchase my phone or online that it (Find My Phone App) is ACTIVATED. I was only informed when I attempted to file a claim after the lost 4 days ago. I should have done it as soon as I got home. I am a senior citizen of 75 years but that is no excuse. Their response was 'I'm sorry for not informing you of the different levels. The phone slipped out of my pocket when leaving Metra train. I am also waiting for my new case with crossbody strap from Amazon...sigh.

I do security work and found a Iphone 11 about 6 months ago we did let it charge for two weeks but still no one has come for it so I am guessing it's owner has none of this turned on? It does say something about find my Iphone will work even when powered off but still no one has come for it. Guessing it's good for a computer recycle. Would doing a restore send them a message? or does it send a message each time we power up the phone/charge it?

Well, I have a question that has been bugging me and I wasn't able to find any videos explaining what I am going to ask you: In case someone's iPhone is stolen and it's their only Apple device, how are they going to log in to their Apple account (to erase the content of their phone) if when they try to log in, their Two-Factor Authentication Code will be required? I was teaching my uncle about how he could delete the content of his phone from his computer and then the quesiton came up. I have found videos explaining that you can get the code via SMS (but, again, the phone wouldn't be with him), so this quesiton is essential for someone who had their phone stolen. Would he have to turn off Two-Factor Authentication?I hope you can help me with that! Thanks again!

Danny, I bought phone that was not reset because of bad screen. Previous owner is from out of town. Can he do anything remotely so I can use phone once I replace screen?
if you’re sure you won’t get it back, you can use the “erase this device” option. that option erases all data from the phone and makes it impossible to unlock the phone again without your icloud login

That only works if you have others Apple devices. If you ONLY have 1 iPhone…you can’t use this or the website because you don’t have access to your phone number anymore. You have to request Apple to CHANGE your number first, and then try to track it. This process can take over a week.

no, unless you remotely delete your data iphone through your icloud account it will wipe everything but again marking it as stolen/lost will not wipe any data, and yes only the lost device will be wiped your other device are safe.

I lost my iPhone 13 and activated lost mode and then proceeded to erase my iPhone via the Find My iphone. After few days of “pending erase” I got an email saying that “iPhone is being erased”. Does this mean the iPhone has been erased or will I receive another confirmation email from Apple about this? Is it possible that whoever had my iPhone and started it up, switched it off during the erase process the moment it started? I’m a little worried my data is still on there. I could still track it via the Find My phone app but there were no other options (like ping the phone, erase, etc.) except “remove device” anymore after receiving that email.
