    I’ve never thought about getting paint protection for any of my cars earlier. But let’s face it, with all that happens in the chaos of the traffic on the roads, it’s inevitable that one’s vehicle will suffer the eventual scratch or two! Gulp! Also, I’m making plans to hit some off-road trails with the Jimny soon, some terrain which may also take a toll on the paintwork. And so with all this weighing on mind, I took my car to a detailing studio to explore the possibility of getting protection for my car. If you’re thinking of getting PPF, paint protection film, for your car, or wondering what it’s all about, this video should help you make an informed decision. Hope you find it useful.

    I've PPF on both my cars, over 1.5yrs clocked now. My 2 cents,
    1. More micron does not translate to better protection. Stay between 180-200 micron.
    2. TPU PPF is worth the money
    3. Choose a detailer with PPF damage covered. Which means if the PPF gets torn due to accidents etc. It'll be replaced for free.
    4. Many detailers overcharge, do your market survey very well.

    Good afternoon dear Kripal - Just back home after my traditional Sunday lunch with my family. So the vlog is about to PPF or not . To begin with I agree with Prashant ; owner of The Glass Factor on a few points - 1) It’s better to get a PPF done while the car is new . 2) Since you have driven and intend to drive the Jimmy over long distances, better to get a PPF done ✔️. 3) The PPF or clear coat will not peel off the Paint of the car . I am aware about this space as , in the past , I have worked with MNC’s and we used to supply our specialty products to the OEM / dealers / Car studios . Good that Jimmy is getting a Jacuzzi and if it had a voice would have thanked you 😀 Next step is to remove the imperfections with the paint correction process 👍 I can see you a tad shocked to see Jimmy being dismantled ( looking naked 😀) It’s a genuine concern that post the PPF treatment process the Jimmy needs to be back in shape ( You subtly checked with the technician that if Jimmy would be back to normalcy ) . To be candid it’s not practical to have a look at the car when it’s in the stock yard before it’s delivered to the Dealer’s bastion . Now time for the main part ; incorporating the PPF on the car . The material used is Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is an essential ingredient in PPF , capable of producing PPF that can provide premium protection, without yellowing or degrading, for close to a decade . They use IPA ( Isopropyl Alcohol) which is a solvent . The role of the IPA is to “anchor” or "lock" one part of the piece so that the film can be stretched. This solution is also used to remove the slip solution from under edges that won't stick down properly. The mixture is typically 10% IPA to 90% water. Time to pick up the Jimmy and its Glistening ( indeed Glossier than when you got it from the Nexa showroom ) Hello to Arun 👋 Post the Chrome Delete the front part of Jimmy looks much better 👌👌 I am sure you would have had your heart in your mouth while conducting the scratch test 😀 It’s safe 👌 The hydrophobic water test is just a marketing gimmick as we are aware of the hydrophobic properties of the PPF . Good that they have given you a 10 year warranty 💯. Oh the cost is Rs 1 Lakh ( 6-7 % of your Jimmy cost ) . TPU possesses excellent toughness and a robust thermal repair capability. On the other hand, TPH is fragile during usage, lacks sufficient protection ability, and the adhesive layer chosen is prone to detachment. No wonder the cost is 50% of the TPU - PPF . I agree for you the PPF is a necessity for Jimmy given its upcoming usage . Good choice Kripal . Thoroughly enjoyed this informative ( technical revision) vlog 👍 I am happy that you are satisfied and got a good deal 👍👍 Have a wonderful Sunday ahead and Stay blessed 😇. Loads of love and respect 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

      Hi Rajesh, your comment was re-assuring and you seem to come from a position of experience and knowledge on this matter, where I am only a recent learner. Why re-assuring, I just responded to another comment that was less than positive on ppf, but I think he perhaps is talking about tph. Do take a look and let me know. Have a good Sunday evening and a great week ahead. Cheers!

      @@KripalAmannaVlogs Hi Kripal - I did read the comment posted on the cons of PPF . Looks like he is confused between a wide variety of options for car paint protection. Jimmy has undergone a PPF - TPU treatment and you are correct he might be talking about TPH . I have already highlighted advantages for you to go in for PPF -TPU for Jimmy . You have a 10’year warranty. Just ensure that you are prompt in terms of the maintenance of the vehicle. Please diligently follow their instructions . Eventually you need to allow for the binding of the PPF on the vehicle . From what I saw in the 27 odd minutes of vlog I am pretty confident that The Gloss Factor guys know their job . The technical pitch provided by Prashant was very clear and he also addressed your concerns . I wish you and Jimmy a Happy Driving 👍

      Your observations are crisp & to the point. Really appreciate your inputs. However, couple of doubts still linger in my mind.
      Firstly, I personally feel, that a lakh of rupees for sticking the PPF on to the the size of Jimmy is a bit too much, as the whole job can be done in 1.5-2 days flat. (Mainly talking of labour involved here) Further, an alternate way of looking at it could also be that, the same 1lakh can be used for getting the real paint job as well. I think that amount could well suffice for atleast 4-5 coats, if not more !
      Secondly, what sort of scratches does the PPF protect or guard against?
      Does it guard the paint from a scratch caused by mischievous boys with a stone in hand or some sort of a key/any such tool & of any scratches caused by the impact of a bicycle/two wheeler ? Or does it protect the underlying paint only from scratches caused by bushes & thorns, that inevitably get brushed against the body of the car, especially in rural terrains ?
      Appreciate your response. Thank you.

    Hi Kripal Sir....Just love all of ur videos on both of ur channels....well speaking ppf... having owned and modified several cars in past 20 years or so the one thing that i have learned from my experience is that any or every aftermarket paint protection technique whether it be the ppf teflon cermaic or vinyl coating is just a gimmick product bro... believe me a thin plastic film is practically usless when comes to real life wear and tear.....these films gets punctured so damn easily and in due course of time under harsh sun the film starts to crumple and become wrinkly and tries to come off by itself taking away the original paint of ur car.and IT SERIOUSLY DROPS DOWN THE RESALE VALUE OR U CAR..also the self healing is a lie..ask him if it could self heal when the film gets deep scratches ???...and the hydrophobic coating itself is a lie too coz it is just a wax coating over plastic film...u apply wax to any plastic film it would repel water.. but that would only lasts till ur next car wash.. once i apply any detergent or shampoo that so called ceramic(wax) coating is gone....So bro the car looks so damn cool when u get it done.. but thats only a short lived hapiness...... We only hope u get better results from this....😊

    • @KripalAmannaVlogs
      @KripalAmannaVlogs  Před měsícem +2

      Hello! Thank you for loving all our videos. Coming to your observations, I did some research beforehand, and many of the issues that you speak about seem to pertain to the much cheaper tph films, which are basically laminates of sort. They tend to turn brittle, yellow and stick to the paint in the long term.
      Now wrt the tpu film that I got, the self healing works as long as the film is not punctured. The ceramic effect is expected to last for a year, and there is a 10 year warranty that includes a yearly service where they apply a ceramic coat. This long term commitment from The Gloss Factor is also what appealed to me.
      You certainly seem to speak from a position of knowledge, but for my sake, fingers crossed, and please don't get me wrong, I hope your observations are wrong in this case. 😀🙏

      @maximus_ab Před měsícem

      Thanks for the reply. Yes, the 10 year warranty certainly gives you a peace of mind. Though me and many of whom i know might not have had the same experience with such paint treatments (tph/tpu/vinyl/teflon), the same cant be said in evry scenario. I wrote to you only because I watched all of ur previous Jimmy adventures and your car already looked so great. It hurts when we try to make something better and end up getting worse / mediocre results. I only wish u luck from the bottom of my heart that this paint treatment gives u amazing satisfaction for years to come.....🙂🙏

    Dear All - I have a Pajero Sport 2015 model ...did PPF immediately and now it is around 9 years... My advice is not to do PPF at all.... i did in 3M showroom in Yelhanka...After 3-4 years...the PPF gets cracks all over....the shine of the car is lost and i went to have it removed and it seems the paint will go if we try to remove the PPF ..so i have to get the entire car repainted which i do not want to since the original paint is good...So i am at a loss of words on why i did PPF.
    PPF not worth the money...rather do regular wash...polish or ceramic coat...

And since you feel I’m a proponent for the product, here’s a nugget for you to ponder over: while the general public in India may not have warmed to the vehicle for various reasons, it’s an extremely capable product as opposed to some others. Also amply demonstrated by its runaway success in other markets of the world. Cheers!

      Sir, after seeing Kripal from many years what I have understood is.. He will never suggest anything which is not worthy. And Kripal is a brand by himself. He does thorough research and comes with a content. Be it food or any of these things. I am sure Kripal would not want to promote bad products to other viewers of his channel. Trust is on Kripal Sir.
