I'm so jealous....I can't find shit....wasted so much time and effort...in .Michigan
@@danhughes3626 😂🎉❤
Thanks for the thrill of the hunt. My daddy took me mushroom hunting when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I'm 58 now. I don't understand why I get such a high off of hunting and finding mushrooms.
I can't hike no more , so thanks for the high of the hunt !!!
No problem Julie! At least you have those great memories
Same here !!!! I love how excited everyone (and myself) get when we find some !!
If you're getting high off hunting mushrooms... maybe you're picking the wrong shrooms 😆
"I see one, then they all appear" lol that is so true with mushroom hunting. I've stood in a spot and scanned like crazy, and never see a single shroom. Then you manage to spot one, and your eyes just suddenly train themselves to see them. Suddenly, morels everywhere
No doubt! I wouldn't have done so well if it wasn't for our experienced guide
Venison tenderloins and morel mushrooms doesn't get any better
No doubt thats yummy!

Lol what a magical video... I've hunted mushrooms for over 30 years and I promise you they are NEVER this easy to find lol that's hilarious
We had a really good guide
If ya know where to look they are 😉
Loved Morel hunting with my dad and we used to find them by the old grocery store paper bags. We cleaned them the same way but we dipped them in eggs and flowered them, and fried them in some oil. Very tasty.
Sounds delicious!!
Right on. Love how excited you get when you found some.
Best morel harvest I have ever seen. I am hungry for morels and steak. Yumm
YUMMMMM!!
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE thing to do….hunt morels!!!! Can’t wait until this season!!! 🍄
Same! We can't wait to get out there
Exciting childhood memories!!! Morels & Steak Cooked in real butter! Yummy 😋! May in Wisconsin Minnesota country!!! 😋😋😋😋😋 JOY! BLESSINGS from GOD!
So good!
I CANNOT wait for mushroom hunting!! I think we're getting a late start this year here in Michigan but so far the moisture levels have been good 👌 not too much or too little. It's just been a little cold yet. It's already almost May! I'm still learning though. But you guys aren't kidding, it's literally like finding gold!
Yeah can't wait until it heats up
It's been a crazy season, here in Ohio. Started to pop in the early part of the season, and then weather has been up and down. It's made the season slow down real quick like. Best of luck to you in your morel season
I went today and found a bunch in BC. It was fun.
@@joeyisaacs2087 what sort of trees and plants do you look for specifically in Ohio when mushroom hunting? I’m a newbie and would appreciate any insight
It's the 4th.
This is one of the most enjoyable videos I have ever watched. Absolutely subscribed!
Welcome aboard!
Uncle Perry is the man! Great hunting knowledge. Thanks for posting.
We love mushroom picking with Uncle Perry! and thanks for watching Mark
@Mark Tracy
I've never heard of Morel mushrooms!!!!
Nice haul! Genuine joy is visible from you guys. Great video.
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for the tips❣️ I especially appreciated the tip about the lilacs being in full bloom. I've been apart of the Mycology society and the morels are the one mushroom that they seem not to show us spots. I went out a few times looking this year. But unfortunately it's been pretty dry in Colorado this year. You are very fortunate to have someone take you to their spot, this isn't something mushroom pickers do very often.
Thanks for watching! The lilacs are a good tip!
Oh yeah, people are REAL stingy about their mushroom spots! Lol (I don't blame them!)
Larry has a bad case of " Mushroom Fever " !!! It makes me so happy to watch him. Hey what about the garlic when cooking them???
It's honestly addicting!
Thanks to this video and hearing that morels can grow around dead cottonwood trees, I went to a patch of cottonwoods near my house and found three MONSTER morels! First ever for finding an edible mushroom. Thanks!
Glad the tips could be helpful!!
Gearing up for morel hunt 2023. The rains have been regular, the weather's becoming mild and springy.. let;s get it on! Thanks for the video!
You bet!
you're excitement is contagious!
I take the soak water out to an area that will likely produce. The spores in the water. It might take a year or 2 but I have had results.
Wow thats amazing!
Fellow Wisconsinite here! Gonna try morel hunting for the first time in the next week or so. Wish me luck!
Good luck!
Going mushroom hunting for the first time this year today! Going to be using your tips! Love watching you guys hunt and seeing your excitement! Thanks guys!
I went a couple hours ago for the first time ever and my phone must of been listening because now these videos are popping up
How did it go!
@@LarrySmithOutdoors it was my very first time so naturally I got more ticks than mushrooms lol
That is THE Wisconsin accent if I know one! haha Love it
You know it! Thanks for watching!!
I don't even like mushrooms, but this looks super fun.
It is! You should give it a try after proper research
Great video guys i really appreciate the tips
Look at this one! Look at THIS ONE!! So much fun!
It was just an awesome time Matt! How do you like to cook your morels?
@@LarrySmithOutdoors Morels have eluded me so far. I learned the hunt from a few "old Italians" and know most of them by the nicknames given. Hen of the Woods was one I've been able to cross reference!
I almost had a heart attack at 6:40 never seen so many mushrooms in one spot
I also had a heart attack!
How exciting! Great tips! Thanks for taking us along! We flour ours. I will have to try your method (chunk of butter) providing I find a “mess of mushrooms” this yr!
You are so welcome! Were hoping for the same thing!
I grew up eating these in WV...they are incredible !!!! After you cut them and clean them dip in egg and flour then fry to golden brown...you WILL NOT be disappointed....good luck everyone hunting them!
WE WILL be trying that! Sounds delicious!
That does sound really good but I never cut mine. I always pluck them
We saute them with ramps in Amish butter and a pinch of salt, mmmmm
Sounds good...will try that🐷 also you can fry ramps with potatoes...give it a try
@@virginiawilliams8648 I just picked 2 bags full of ramps yesterday and sautéed some with shrimp in Amish butter and the rest will be cream of ramp and potato soup today. Last years soup was incredible. I try to sustain the ramp field by cutting mid bulb to allow for regrowth next year. I also dig clumps to transplant in my property, I now have about 70 clumps from the past 4-5 years of doing this and they are starting to spread now.
I love morel hunting. It’s like looking for Easter eggs, but for adults haha
Never thought about it like that but it's so true lol
The excitement in this video is so contagious! I love it!
It's just exciting!
I friggin love this dude, so fun and entertaining, definitely subscribed
Awesome, thank you! More good content to come!
Thank you for the information! May God Bless You Always! 🙂
Same to you!
This looked so fun! I’ve never had those mushrooms before, but they look super cool and I bet they tasted great!
So good!! No doubt worth trying out!
Uncle Perry is a cool old teacher! Awesome video fellas.
Thanks Mike he's pretty cool! How do you like to cook your morels?
@@LarrySmithOutdoors I like to fry them up in butter, add salt & pepper like you fellas. I also love to cook em the same way and smother a steak or burger with the cooked morels. They are great with eggs too, but I cook em separate and add some fresh dill. No wine, or sherry, or fancy bernaise for me!
Thank you! That looked both fun and delicious! It gave me ‘shroomin’ fever. I enjoy picking them, almost as much as I love eating them. They’re just ain’t much better eating than frying up a mess of lightly breaded Morels. I’ve been hunting then since I was a really young child with my Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. We used to find shopping bags full but for the last several years they have become more scarce. Lots of the land nearby is now posted or sold for development. I have the best memories hunting them, with my family and later on with my nieces and nephews. I get morel fever every year beginning in late February, as I know it’s probably only a month away from then to begin watching for signs.
After I slice and wash them, I roll mine in flour (salt & peppered to taste) and fry them up golden brown. I’m going to try a few nekkid in butter, like cooked above. 😋 Yummy!
I got the mushroom fever too! So many good memories with my family now. How do you like to cook your morels?
@@LarrySmithOutdoors I normally roll them lightly in flour seasoned with a bit of salt and black pepper, and fry them up golden. Oh my, that is making my mouth water.
After I slice & clean them up, I soak them a few hours or overnight in salted water to pull the bugs out that may be holed up in the flesh. They're sneaky.
@@monica1811 you also soaked out lots of nutrients from the mushrooms when soaking that long
I love morel hunting and this was inspiring Unck Knows his stuff.
He really does! It's great to learn from passionate people like this
Very interesting and informative video! Thanks so much for making it!
Our pleasure!
Man Oh Man........ Watching this video brings back so many memories. From hunting them as a youngster with my Grandpa, to the smells coming form the kitchen as Mom and Grandma was cooking them up. And then of course the joys of eating them.......... So tasty, and delicious.
We cooked them a bit different tho. Dipped in egg, then rolled in cracker crumbs, and then fried until slightly crispy. My mouth is watering right now............ LOL
🤤🤤🤤🤤 Sounds delicious!
Thank you so much for all the info!!
Any time Vicky!
im not even a minute in and i love everything about this
We're happy we could smile on your face

You got that right!
I'm going with somebody on Sunday to pick some morel mushrooms hopefully we can find something cuz I haven't had any luck doing it by myself for many years now... Always wanted to be able to find some just to say I've done that...
Very educational and awesome video to see
OMG exciting and the level of happiness in 2 grown men is super ecclesiastical.... whatever that word is it fits... good men!
I just moved from CA to my permanent home in eastern KY out in the woods. Used my v.a. home loan. I can't wait until the spring and finally, after years of waiting, be able to finally get some morels.
Glad to hear. You deserve it for all you sacrificed
In an online store you can get Mushroom from
Very informative! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!!
Great show Larry.I want some morels, now!
Thanks fro watching, me too!
When you find one there should be a bunch together and there is a different type of type that are dark brown and those are nice and tastey yummy
This is a great video! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is great, thanks for educating us. I got excited with you when you found a huge batch! I've never done this but now I want to go for it. ;)
You can do it! 👍
really great video guys! well put together, cheers
Thanks a ton! Can't wait to get out there again!!
Been a long time since I've been shrooming....it's such a great time outdoors and so exciting when you come across a village of whatever you're looking for. I've never had a morel though. Gonna have to try.
Yes for sure!!!
I’m 67, I’ve been searching for morels in Michigan since I was a little girl. I find a couple/few every year. I’ve never found them in the same place twice. I only dream of finding the haul they found under this first elm. If only I could find several large morels like this before I die!
Thank you for this video ❤ mushrooms 😊
Thanks for watching!
Take me with you guys this spring! Sweet video.😀
Thanks for watching!!
Lol
haha!! I'm drooling! heading out to my forest right now!!
Hopefully your hunt is successful!
Dang you guys found a gold mine of Morel mushrooms, so great!
We did. Hope to have similar success this year
Ohhhh, that special stick!! I am going to make one of those.

@@billybatts9491 Good!
Charming
Lep peckers huh??
Got to go foraging after seeing this video. Well done.
Thanks for the support!
This is the first time I've ever heard of finding morels around dead cottonwood trees. My sister's 40 acre property is full of Apple trees and we have good luck there. But she has a ton of dead big cottonwood trees too I'm gonna start looking around those now 🤣 thank you!!!
Welcome!!
thank you for the information! can't wait to start checking the woods for these mushrooms :)
Hope you enjoy! Us too! Im getting hungry just thinking about it! 😁
i love those things.yummm
I'm looking forward to a mess of mushrooms and some fresh spring catfish!!!! The best meal around!!!
Sounds delicious!! can't wait to get back in there!
I cook this every year after our annual cat fishing trip! Yum! Never any leftovers.
It's better than Christmas. Mushroom season is upon us! Happy hunting!
Can't wait to get out there this year!
Thanks fellas. Going to try to find some this weekend :)
Low rain last year here in Northern IN, only found giants the size of my hand that weren't as tasty. Hoping for some mega rain and sun here soon for this season's hunt. If I don't find any, I'll just come watch this video again and eat some of my dehydrated morel reserves haha! Happy Hunting!
You gotta keep trying! Thanks for watching the video!
Morels is like gold to me
Agreed. Can't wait to go mushroom hunting again
Didn't get any yesterday here in MN but it rained all last night so hopefully I find some today after work
Same! Let us know how it goes
Good cooking tips!
Love your staff!!
Thank you!
Would love to taste one. Looks fun.
Thanks for the help
Any time!
Wow, I've never found morels Luke this. Crazy.
Keep at it buddy. We're hoping to get out there again but it's been a tad cold
Love that cane!
I've been in the woods around 8am the last few days and it's really paid off. 🙌
Thats great to hear! Thanks for watching!!
What part of the country are you in?
Shrooms
Are you saying time of day matters or that you need to be willing to look all day long to find them?
I'm anxious for mushroom hunting for the next few years. Last year we had a storm in the midwest with sustained winds of 99mph for 30-45 mins. Where I'm at the highest gust was 112mph. The southside of town had confirmed winds gusts of 140mph. We lost almost 70% of our tree canopy. Sooooo many dead trees now.
It might take a year or 2 but you'll see em!
Time to go buy real food
If it was Iowa than I live there we lost almost all are trees in our yard
I literally walked out of my house and found them growing in the striped between my house and the street in a subdivision. Wild
these guys are awesome
Thanks for watching buddy!
Great video!!
Thanks Natasha!
Love the walking stick!
Thanks!
What do you do with the ones you can't eat in the same day? How do you store them? This was fun to watch, and I want to get into my nearby woods and see if I get lucky. Ty !
I just want one hunt like that... 😅😅😅 awesome guys !!
Thanks for watching!!
No seasoning though Uncle Perry?? Looked yummy still!! Thanks so much for this
No need
Awesome
Amazing to see! I've been out a few times here in the UK no luck yet! Was this video shot in late April?
Ground temperature is what matters. Along tree lines with light brush. I find mine the week or so before mothers day till a couple days after. So yeah late april
This was actually shot in early May! Thanks for watching!!
That’s what I call good eats!!! My wife thinks it looks gross. So I eat them all. Ha Ha!! Great video Larry
As a child we went picking for eating a Morel feast ❤️ my step momma made the best fried morels
How did she make em
We used to go to Northern Michigan to pick, great video !
Thanks 👍 Can't wait to get out this year!
Boyne Falls!!
I love how you delight when you pick those wonderful mushrooms! 😍😍😍😍 i didn't skip your ads..
You're the best! Thank you for watching!!
I'm not sure how big the ones here in Michigan will be, but regardless I haven't been this excited to eat something in a while.
Beautiful white flowers on the tree.
Thank you! Cheers!
