6:10 - I know Plum is just a baby, that isn't really physically capable of injuring Sakura yet. I don't think Sakura freaked out because she was in pain or anything. I think what bothered her was Plum's intent. If you watch closely and slow it down, it looks like Plum was trying to hurt Sakura with that bite. Even the face she was making was surprisingly vicious. It wasn't remotely similar to the love bites they usually give each other.
I agree. Sakura loves babies and is gentle with them has never been bitten by one before. It must gave been a shock. Chimps are very in tune to actions and the intentions and I think Plums intent was the upsetting factor.
@cat love Rugaiyah Kei is not inside the cage. She is at outdoor undisclosed enclosure 4 to 6 times a week. Please think before you write down comments since I have informed about Kei's situation many many times. Chimp staff care about Kei deeply which I know because I talk about Kei often with them.
The reason Kei is not integrated fully into this group yet is becsuse introducing new chimps is a VERY delicate process..the lovely Kei has lived as a solitary chimp for over 2 yrs so you can imagine how stressfull it is for her to get used to other chimps..chimp society is a convoluted situation where one wrong move or mannerism could result in an attack causing injury or god forbid even death these chimps are cute yes but god if they are in the mood they can do serious damage to each other .Kei has the company of some of the other chimps that she has been slowly introduced to..she was together in the inside enclosure with Sakura the other week and has acces to an outside enclosure which is not open to the public..this slow introduction can take many many months..just think how many of these chimps she will have to get to know and they know her..they are rightly being careful..imagine if they put her in and it caused a fight..as she is the newbie she wouldn't stand a chance..she is not always on her own she is slowly building friendships and alliances which she will need when she does eventually join the main groups..its a lot for her and chimps suffer from stress like we do..please be patient she will be in the group at some point and the main reason for bringing her is that it will obviously enrich her life as chimps are social animals and flourish with company and they will eventually breed with her as she is a western chimp and it will bring a new lineage into Tama Zoo..🇬🇧💞👍👏👏🙏🐵🐒🙉🙈🙊
At the very start of the vid, I thought it was Peach (with the white discoloration next to her nose) who was tenderly grooming Plum. I've seen Peach gently clean out her babies ears like that several times before. Then, as the picture became clearer, and I looked a little closer, I started to look a little closer. Then, she suddenly flipped over the baby, and I saw it was Ibuki! Not Plum. When the adult started to perform a complete rectal exam on poor Ibuki, I realized it was Mikan, especially since Mikan has the same white discoloration next to her nose that Peach does. I was totally faked out...

Unless I’m mistaken, in recent videos (I’m writing this in April 2023) Sakura appears to be more integrated into the group than she was several years ago. She seems to have matured some. I absolutely love to watch her mannerisms. The way she uses her hands to point and to try and run off other chimps that bother her. I laughed so hard in another video when cherry took over a blanket that Sakura wanted. Sakura got a big stick and proceeded to run Cherry off of the blanket with that stick. It was hilarious! She is certainly a interesting chimp. I think she is a very beautiful chimp. I hope that she will be allowed to have a baby some day!
In the beginning Mikan and Ibuki, he is like leave my behind alone already. Mikan it seems is the one to discipline Ibuki. Poor Sakura, I wish I could be a chimpanzee for one day and give her a big hug, and tell her to just chill, everything is going to be ok. With Kei, I noticed her finger is still disfigured, was she born that way, or they weren't able to fix it? I laugh at Peach, when Ibuki is in the playroom she wont let Plum in there, and when Plum is in there she wont let Ibuki in there.
Adolescent females leave their maternal groups when they get older. This is chimp nature and the zoos are insursing its emulated as much as possible. Your assumptions are baseless that she us missing her brother. She just a moody teenager.

@BapBaby 4 Life She was attacked by other chimps before coming to Tama zoo and her finger has been like that for a long time.
