Amy has been collecting Dolls since she was little, and now she shares her passion for treasure hunting with her Daughter! Come see their collection on today's spotlight episode!
I so loved this episode. I am a doll collector and I was so impressed by your knowledge of the doll world. I remember watching you years ago just kind of tossing them aside for the boy toys not even reallizing that I was screaming "Nooo. That one is worth a lot of money!" The family is so nice and it is great to see the daughter joining in on the collecting. You were great with her and and included her as a serious collector as well as her Mom. I have 6 nieces and none of them like dolls. Pooh.
@@patriciayoung3267, That's so traumatizing,I'm so grateful my Grandfather gave us a dog, that dog and my radio got me through my childhood, I would love to see anyone's doll collection.
Thank you, Alex, for talking to us about our collection and taking the time to create this video! It was a pleasure to share the dolls with you and everyone on who watched :) Seraphim was feeling a little shy during the interview, but wanted everyone to know that she uses many of the dolls and LEGO to make stop motion videos to tell her stories. That’s what she uses the dollhouse at the beginning of the video for. We also wanted to mention for those who were curious about the wearable leather art items we create these items to tell stories, for photoshoots, movies/video, art fashion shows, and for gallery events. The items we typically create for our booth and online are jewellery, journals, and purses. We are grateful for the kind and positive comments and thankful for the stories shared about people’s own doll collections.
Love that they aren't "precious" about their collection. Daughter gets to play with them, and it doesn't seem to matter if the dog destroys the shoes. The "one in, one out" idea is great too. So many collectors just keep everything, and it overwhelms the space. Lovely people; great collection.
Great video Brother Alexander. It's totally cool another Generation of Collector. Love the excitement of these People with Their collecting. Thanks again for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😀 👍 ❤️ 🇨🇦🌎❤️💯💯
Another lovely collection interview. I love seeing all the things from local collectors. This is one of my favorite new series. Thank you Alexander 😊 for great Saturday morning entertainment.
Alex, fabulous video. I am really enjoying this Collector Series. The people are so passionate about their collections and eager to share their expertise and knowledge. Well done.
This brought back memories. I still have my original 60s barbie clothes suitcases and also the little catalogs. I also have Tressy doll with the ha I r that grows. I take them out once a year and change their clothes. Also still have my 60s Shirley temple.
I bought a train case at an auction once that had dolls in it. There was one that I thought was beyond help but my Mom rescued her and cleaned her up. We found some clothes at Value Village. In the earlier stages of Mom's Alzheimer's she enjoyed the doll so the doll ended up being the treasure of the lot.💖🇨🇦
That's a wonderful collection. I collect fashion dolls Monster High Rainbow High Barbies etc. I have dolls from the 60s to present. I love seeing other's collections.
Thank you for taking us on a walk through history with the different types of designs and materials. I love that the family not only collects but also repairs and makes - very similar to what Alexander himself does.
I’m at the age where I can totally appreciate this collection. Oddly, when I was a kid I’d have nightmares about dolls. Yet there d get them as gifts all the time. They lived in the garage.
What a great collection! I love that they collect based on the story the dolls tell. I especially loved the doll houses and furniture. Love the Collector Series, too. I have small collections of various things, but nothing on their scale. The thought of them going to yard sales, thrift stores, etc. makes me think of treasure hunts. How thrilling it must be to find an item you don't have.
I collect dolls, my father started me collecting antique dolls as a child. When my daughters were in High School, their friends asked them if they were too old to have dolls. We loved the looks on their faces when they were told they belonged to me. Neither one of them collects, but my 5 granddaughters do.
Oh wow My grandma on my dads side had her whole house filled with dolls and barbies. She was a serious serious doll collector It was awesome to see all the shelves and cabinets full Every room Every where
Wow what a collection. When I was growing up I had a friend who collected dolls. The were all the baby doll size she had about 65 at that time and I thought that was a ton. We didn’t have money growing up so I was lucky if I had 1 doll. I can’t imagine having over 1000. You were a great interviewer. 😊
i love dolls. I have collected dolls my whole life,. I will be 47 this year. I mostly have modern porcelain dolls and reborn dolls. I know the porcelain dolls have little to no monetary value but i just love them. I love to find them in thrift stores for 410 and less. they cost about $100 new. I have one antique doll. I also have kept most of my dolls from my childhood. I just got a new reborn doll yesterday, Unlike most people who have reborns i see mine as dolls as works of art and i do not feel a need to role play with my reborn dolls. or any of my dolls. This collection is awesome.
good show and info as always. Thanks Alex! wasn't sure i wanted to watch, and was totally amazed at this collection and the knowledge these people have.
Antique dolls from 1800 into 1900 could have leather bodues wuth knee joints done wuth gussets and pins at hips, sailcloth done the same, wood bodies with ball joints, and composition when it became available. Socket heads or stationary molded to shoulders. Wish I had all the books on dolls I used to have! I would send them to you.
What a great episode. They have a beautiful collection! I have always loved dolls and even have some from childhood. I have 3 Chrissy, 3 Cinnamon (one from childhood), and several Barbie and Ken dolls. I have one Ken with hair like she has in her collection, along with all his clothes. However, I don't have anymore of the facial hair stickers that came with him. I also have a whole collection of handmade clothing my mother made me.
Great collection and I love her displays. I never collected dolls when I was a child. There was a Christmas incident in the early sixty’s with my new life size walking doll and my barber little brother with his new Christmas scissors. That probably put me off of it. I do buy a doll now and then if I happen to find one that is unusual. I think The last one was about a year ago. It is a 9 inch ceramic nun doll from the 60s. She looks mean.
I'm not a big fan of dolls, but I've really gotten into following doll modifiers. I also have always loved doll houses and follow a couple of miniaturists/doll house makers. I want to get my house together so I can put the doll house I made for my niece and rescued before my brother moved to Colorado 25ish years ago. I have it out in my shed. I want to clear out the room I used to sleep in and set it up so I can work on the doll house. Thanks for showing this lovely family. I wonder if there are any time they have been to cons with their costumes. Not that I've been to any cons in the last 20ish years. In fact, about the last one I went to was to meet Robert J. Sawyer - a Canadian SF writer, that con was in Houston.
I have handmaid Barbie outfits that I would love to talk to this family about. None of the girls down the line in my family are interested. They are beautiful, includes the underclothes and so much detail.

Nice collection, I collect Asian ball jointed dolls(made of resin and put together with elastic string) I’m surprised she hasn’t discovered them yet : ) I even have a CZcams channel for them : ) BJD’s are very addictive but also expensive, if she discovers them she may be doomed in keeping her collection down. This was so interesting to see. I have the Dawn Dolls, not many people know what they are, which I find odd. They were quite out there at the time and about 1/2 the size of a barbie. For some reason I kept them. I think because I got them when I was a bit older and not playing with barbies/dolls anymore, and due to the fact that they were new I couldn't just throw them out.
Fun collection ! Nice that Daughter can play with and enjoy it, was surprised they didn't know a doll with an open mouth is called a breather. Thanks for these fun videos Alexander
Not only a wonderful collection, but presented extremely well too! When my daughter was 8, she would take the clothes off of her Barbies for some reason. A house full of naked Barbies. I use to collect dolls. I had over 500 of them. I was collecting them from childhood onward. I was saving them for my daughter but she wasn't interested in them, so I sold a bunch of them.
