Ryobi 40V Lawn Mower on Amazon: amzn.to/3VEvMUM
BEWARE? Two little things you don't like doesn't mean BEWARE!!!!!!!
i got one similar to this without a self propell and i never had any issues, my lawn is clean cut from this and the mulcher really does work well when the grass is not too thick and the bagger works well when my grass is very thick!! i love it, just need to get a new blade for next year 2025 because it might be getting dull soon🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Since it’s electric, you can turn it upside-down and check the blade…easy to remove and sharpen. I’ve sharpened mine twice.
This helped me start up my non starting mower! I didn't have the handles fully extended. Thank you for the tips!
You can bypass that stupid switch’ There’s 2 wires that connect to it’ simply connect those to wires together and it eliminates that safety switch’
Good tip! Thanks
@@joshymcdaniel9233What safety switch? I have this same model and it won't start. I tried bypassing both the switches on the handle to no avail. But cannot find a safety switch anywhere.
mower is a pile of shit - won't last a year - mark my words
Well, mine isn’t exactly the same . It may be a little older model , although I believe it’s between 2-3 years old. Regardless, I simply tightened the screws available around the rear wheels( which were fairly loose). * Also, this may have been part of my problem too; the rear discharge shoot had obviously been full and blocked of thick dried grass for some time. I removed that as well. Anyway, my mower seems to be working again, with n intermittent shutdowns over mowing 15” straight ! Thanks for the help 👍🏼
Thanks for the video. Just bought that mower. I did get the extra battery just in case. Front, side, and back are about half acre. Glad to see no mechanical bad points. I will probably store the batteries separate from mower when not in use (don't want the possibility of a lithium fire in the garage). 20" will help with some of the tight spots in back. Very light compared to gas. Feeling good about getting away from the gas/oil/sparkplug/air filter. I hope it lasts beyond the 5 year warranty. Mower price was $450. 2nd battery was $220. Mower kit comes with one battery and a slow charger. Interesting pricing going on.
Yea it's crazy how expensive the batteries are. I'm hoping it lasts for a while too. I've always had Ryobi tools and they've held up pretty good.
I can get one with my military discount and a 6Ah battery including tax for $387 in Florida.
Thats pretty good. I paid a little over $400 I think.
This was helpful. I just got mine and was going to return it because it keeps cutting off when I hit the self propel. Sounds like I may need to pull and hold the handle until it engages. Will try and decide whether to keep it or not because I like the way it cuts. It's also very quiet and light weight so really want to like/keep it.
Yea I like the way it cuts and the weight of it. It's a little too cheaply made for the price.
Thank you
Thanks for the video. I got this one today and just found out that the battery cover is actually held to the body by only one leg? Is yours like that, too?
Just looked. My battery cover has 2 legs.
We just bought this mower. I've used it twice and dislike the way the self-propelled feature works. It jerk-starts every time. We never had that with our gas mower. Not sure if we're doing something wrong but, after watching your video, I don't think so! Thanks for the info. I kind of wish we'd purchased the Eco. Wondering how its self-propel feature works?
I agree it's not the best. I feel it's a little pricey for the quality
Like your video, can you fit a 7.5ah battery? It's a bit taller.
Yea there should be room for that
I don’t know if I’m lucky or what I’m in the middle of my 5 year with my 40 volt self propelled Ryobi I have had no problems with mower or 5ah battery. I do think battery has lost a little, but I have 2 40 volt 4ah that came with my leaf blower and line trimmer so I have back up. I guess I am just waiting for mine to quit.
That's good to hear. Hopefully mine will last that long too.
Thx. When do I need to remove the red start/stop key? Owners manual not really clear on its purpose.
You would remove it to keep the mower from being started by a child or some other scenario. I leave mine in at all times.
I remove it every time now after use because when I was putting it away one day in my shed the self propel unexpectedly engaged as I was folding it. Luckily I didn’t get hurt
I never store it with the batteries in it.
Ours woke us up at 5 am by turning on by itself. Fun times. Any idea what couldve caused that? It was in our yard, spouse hadnt put it up from prior use and battery in. But talk about woken up in a stir!
Wow. Sounds like a crazy malfunction. It somehow bypassed the safety handle being pulled. Sounds dangerous 😆
You had the key still in it. It states to take the key out when not in use.
Have mine less than a year and now the blade won't engage. Not a mechanic so I guess I will have to become one.
What are your thoughts/experience a year later? I have the exact same model. Mine is falling apart physically, possible because I don't have the smoothest of lawns. The (plastic) hinges on the lid have broken and there is also cracking where the handle meets the arms. It's been a chore to find service and/or the right parts (so many similar models). I love the concept but have to say, I have regrets now. :-(
So far so good for the 2nd year I've had it. I have a rough yard with lots of tree roots and it's held up pretty good. I did have to buy another 6ah battery because the other one couldn't cut the whole yard by itself. I've almost broken the lid several times. It's definitely some cheap plastic. It's still working good though.
I have the exact same mower. The self propel doesn't work anymore! Any suggestions?
mine acts up sometime and someone told me that there is a computer chip to drive it that is probably shorting out
Got a 40v one last Apr, stopped starting this week.. 😂😂
That's really disappointing. I've had great luck with Ryobi stuff so I'm hoping this lasts...
Any luck fixing it? Mine won't start.
@@MrTjcz fixed within 1 week at authorized repair store at Lawrence & Burthurst
@@owenprimus9568Do you know what the issue was?
@@MrTjcz I was told the circuit board of power on switch is broken. If is it is still under warranty, bring it to ACE Parts & Service
How long does it take to charge the battery? I just bought a new one and plugged in the charger, but there's no light turned on to show it's charging. Also, can I put the battery on the charger while it's charging? It's brand new, but not seeing any light to show that it's charging irks me.
The charger should have lights on it to tell you it's charging. I did have another 40V Ryobi charger that wouldn't charge the 6aH batteries
@@therenodummy TY. It was the stupid power surge multiple outlet extension cord I tried first that nothing turned on. After about an hour I plugged it into the wall and the lights came on immediately to show it was charging
💯👍👍
Decent mower but the EGOs seem more substantial, better quality
I probably would have gone with an EGO if I wasn't already invested in the Ryobi product line.
Bruh, you need a tractor mower for that giant yard.
You ain't lying! Just can't fork out thousands for a mower.
Got 4 cuts out of it won’t start. Called everyone around my area for service, no one wants to touch it can get parts u tube show how to bypass the safety switched . I do not want to reengineer a brand new mower I’ll sell for parts Junk!!!!!! 5:46
That's really unfortunate. I would make sure it's not covered by some Ryobi warranty.
That plastic cover is one wrong move away from breaking’ Ask me how I know…..🤦🏻♂️
For $500 thats an almost guaranteed part you will break and have to replace’
It does seem like it's barely hanging on.
Thank you for saving the earth and being all natural. Go get a rider for that yard instead lol. Who would wanna run a plastic machine with a battery pack. Who
Trash you get about two seasons out of them then the junk safety switches fail and you either learn how to work on them or throw them in trash....
Yea Im not overwhelmed by the quality.
Actually have 2 seasons on mine ( same model as video) and it won't start.
There is a sequence to start, check the icon on the handle
The material used to make the mower doesn’t look the best!
The body of it seems fairly sturdy but the cover over the batteries is a flimsy plastic
DO NOT buy a Ryobi. They quit after only 5 times of mowing & wont restart.
Yea a lot of people have said that. Mine last through the first mowing season. Hopefully it works next season.
@@therenodummy and @HomeDepot will not refund after 90 days. They’re losing my business too. #karma
You have 5 years warranty !..
A friend has had one for over 3 years…no problems.
@@sherrylingenfelter8991- Register it online and you have a 5 year warranty.
made with cheap ass chinese crap switches - will barely last you a year - I had to rewire the entire thing - don't waste your money on ryobi garbage
Mine is still going strong after 2 years but it seems like it could break at any moment.
