- I installed heatsinks and Statorade fluid in the onyx rcr hub motor. Had to drill a hole in the motor to add the fluid but did it help at all? Kind of part 5 of the video but not really..

------------------ onyx rcr statorade onyx rcr tutorial onyx rcr heatsinks onyx rcr mods - Zábava
Nice to see you work on upgrading the temperature control love the science behind it actually
You can use greese when drilling it will catch the shavings
That’s a very good idea!
I want more statorade stuff! Plus the heatsinks as well.
Nice tutorial! I recommend to use more thermal paste to increase the heat dissipation to the heatsinks
The app tends to fail, either by closing down and the 2nd boot should work or the app will fail about 4-5 times but will connect after. It does work just dont let the 1st or 1st few attempts bring you down.
Yeah it’s annoying at times
People he is wrong it's better to have statorade first not heat sinks. Heatsinks really only help when you use statorade. Good vid other then mis explaining.
how come you don't use the exact kelly control settings that John Angel recommends for torque mode, champ mode & plaid mode? it sounds like you turn up the % but not the other settings and they are different than the settings you chose, ie: CHAMP MODE (75%)
Current Percent: 75
Bat Current Limit: 100
RLS_TPS Brk Per%: 0
Accel Time: 3
Torque Speed KP: 4000
Torque Speed KI: 110
Speed Err Limit: 1100
Nice
Keep your protection where its at the cable will only be rated for 90°C so when the motor is up past 100°c you risk melting the insulation on the wires, fucking up the hall sensors etc...
also you missed the thermal paste when installing the sinks and if you were gonna drill the hole you should have done it thru one of the brake bolt holes and threaded it back in to seal it up 😉
anyway only a matter of time before that motor will need split and serviced
Should have pushed yourself man and done the extra work get to know the tech and shit
Anyway peace out man and good luck
Yes I didn’t have thermal paste and needed them on asap. Tomorrows video you’ll see why. I had a huge group ride. And surprisingly with 4700 miles on the motor it’s still working very good and if this motor does go out it’s just gonna be tossed in the trash and I’m gonna put a 3t on
@@MrCentralDriver no stress man it's not my bike at the end of the day, I just reckon it would save you having issues, save some money etc... my videos are shit and whatever
With a big following I reckon you should be putting out the correct knowledge on how people should be modding their bikes, I've got a qs205 and a 3kturbo motor and I use the same kelly controller
It's honestly not that hard or stressful dude anyway you need any help with the ac aduser app or anything else feel free to hit me up
Don't wanna come across as a hater I'm in your corner I just want you to tidy up you game, start uping the respect points with the home builders.
Cool battery, nice bikes and respect dude
brushless motors can go up to about 160°C think something like that if it cuts at 120°C that is a very high protection
If that’s the case this bike is solid because it stops itself from self destruction
Hi, what frame did this electric bike use?
I could not find the first video of the manufacture of this bike, you can throw off the links to the video
no idea
Hello, great video! Can I just put on the heat sink only? Do I have to put the statorade fluid?
You can do either or. They just work best together.
It only does 52-53? I thought they were way faster
their display is way off so once u calibrate it the speed is actually lower.
Still suggest a shade/shroud to stop the sun beating down on it but that would be custom
Where can you get one?
What are the odds that upgrading a super 73 s1 with a new hub motor dual battery
You just sold me on this bike. I'm buying the small battery because I can build my own for it at 1/10th the price. Also for better thermal transfer you should sand the paint off and use a high quality thermal compound. Also I would top the motor with stator fluid, even mineral oil by itself would work just fine for a cheaper solution. Thanks for sharing this, I was about to dump $10k on building my own bike but I like this one a lot! BTW do you know what motor and controller is on that? Is it a Sabaton?
I just got a new tube of fluid and put it all in the motor so now it has probably 10ml. And it’s a Kelly controller
@@MrCentralDriver YOUR HEIGHT AND WEIGHT?
@@MrCentralDriver THAT LIGHT IS SO BAD.GET A FENIX
Grin technology did a test with different amounts of stator fluid. There's no benefit from more than 6ml, as it has completely bridged the gap.
@@marthamryglod291 I thought about that after I posted this and figured I was wrong about that. It actually does make more sense to use less.
, would we add the statorade only once, or annually or how often?
Depends how much you ride. Every 5k miles I’d put in 4ml-5ml or so
damn right it's hot even in Canada lol
Interesting to see how this set up would hold up in my area near LA, where our average temps are 75 right now peak summer. Even more interesting to test it out in the winter with 60 degree weather.
If you had his bike you’d be able to ride all day no heat soak
@@mojojoji5493 thats what im thinking. Definitely might pull the trigger on one before school starts again.
@@christopherbadillo3342 same I live in Hawaii and it’s actually not always blazing hot would be nice to drive in the cold air with this, even stock I think it’s a good deal
Where did you get these heat sinks?
They were taken off my other Onyx that I recently sold. I’ve had them for over a year and a half so I’m not 100% sure where I got them from but if you check my CZcams videos I have a dedicated video installing these with links in the description
👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
Caution stickers aren’t in the same spots
That’s weird because mine were both under the 3000 numbers on the motor
The brushless HD (Heavy Duty) range can operate in ambient temperatures of up to 200⁰C with a maximum winding temperature of 240⁰C
Nope lol
