      Jury trial is set for later April 2024. The defendant requested the jury vs bench. Based on their response to the complaint, I suspect they are going to try and sell the jury that the Cornstars are just trying to get something for free. But, no one is dumb enough to believe that. I doubt the defendant wants this to drag out too long either because they are a small business and they're also paying their lawyer by the hour. If Cornstars do win a judgment, they still have to collect. Then if they do actually get some money in the bank, how are you going to fix that mess? First they need to determine why the feed system does not meet the specs; the welding can be fixed, but the foundation under the hopper is going to have to be chiseled out and start over.

    • @alanholck7995

      This may be an unpopular opinion, but I suspect the contractor’s lawyers are going to use the videos of Cole filming when the bin site was being built & pushing the contractor to hurry up & finish. In hindsight it may have been better if took more time, even if it meant storing corn in shed for another year.

    Like I said yesterday on Coles channel, makes me sick just to watch these also... Have had fam get scammed in FL after a hurricane... Not just the money, your site is DANGEROUS!!! In 91 we did a major overhaul of our grain system. Bought 2 used legs from a neighbor that they were upgrading, have the same SuperB dryer you have, got their over head bin and super structure etc,,, referbed it all ourselves... air floors in all the bins...We had a millwright neighbor literally a half mile down the road we hired to install it all. The dude did 110%, it increased our capacity 4 fold, we couldn't keep up with it... Rent it to a good friend neighbor to this day, still rocking it... so if you're wondering folks, 1974 SuperB batch dryer, still killing it... was sad to see Brian retire his... LOL...

    For the bottleneck that pit auger is, how long would it take to pull the auger and check the flighting?
    Unlikely but the other possibility is you need larger pulleys or more belts.

You were talking about the Bin Site and I got the idea that if you could start over you might have wished to be more involved from the beginning. We have all been there before, and in retrospect wished for more information earlier (your words). Well … “water under the bridge”. The big question is what lessons have been learned that will guarantee that working with contractors (any contractors) is a joy going forward? Making sure those lessons are learned and protect Corn-Star Farms going forward is the realm of wise old men like us. This is the important part and some of these lessons are not easy to discuss. Good luck!!!!

    It's hard to imagine the costs associated with drying corn 7%. Used to have that same tester, but ours was branded Dole. Something we did was switch our augers over to shaft mounted 1:5 reducers specifically for Augers. It allowed us to run them full and then variable speed them to our leg that was always a problem.

    • @deadone99
      @deadone99 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Many years ago I worked for a country elevator and that was rated at 5,000 bu. per hour and we had speed reducers on every auger. When the video shows the motor pulley on the auger with very little belt contact no wonder you keep burning off the belts. Shaft mounted gearbox's eliminate the huge size difference between the drive and driven pulleys. Also every dump pit included a slide gate in the bottom so that the augers would not have to start under load. In my opinion cost savings became the most important thing. Remember people will build what you want to make a sale.

    I know im late to the party. But I've had some experience running augers at a biomass boiler plant. We would run cyclo gear boxes on our feed augers and chains. They were extremely reliable and even though they obviously had some downsides, they would generally run 24/7 with very little downtime. In my opinion, it's a more durable setup then running belts on augers. Especially if the augers are stationery.

I know that may not seem practical, but these band aid fixes you have been doing are adding up with no end in sigh. I would also see if your banker can help in some way. Get a picce of 3/16 inch square tubing and weld on a half inch drive socket .. Then get a milwaukee battery operated high torque gun to open and close the hopper bottoms .. It works great ..

    I know that one thing can hold up the entire process. I can tell how aggravated it makes you all. However, you've got everything on video now... that should help this lawsuit. You and your boys are a hard working bunch. At least it's not completely broken. I wish there's something we can do, but besides a lot of views and prayers, we feel as helpless. You deserve to have your equipment and storage, including that important drying process. Everything has been running so smoothly in the field, and your bushels/acre are fantastic! It makes it all that more frustrating when you can't get it out of the truck. Hang in there Daddy Cornstar. ❤️🙏❤️🤗 Neva is a sweetheart getting donuts and chocolate milk. Everyone needs those extra calories. ❤😊

    Daddy CornStar...My suggestion would be to maybe discuss is a High Torque Direct drive VFD drive on your grain unloading leg. You wont burn off belts because you replace the belt shives with a gear box. The downsides would be you would need to start auger before you dump. Good effect would be I would start it with Prox switch I would trigger by semi driving by. Other plus would be I would use it to Hold the RUN Command ON after until truck/trailer is gone for timer (say 30 Minutes) set to over what you need to empty your hopper bottom.

    I know your between a rock and hard place, investing in the farm and being let down must get to you on so many levels. God tests us with what we can take but sometimes it does make you question if you can take any more!
    Lawyers will sort it out but that don’t help the farm storage and the income loss from having to sell crops rather than plan your sales.
    Keep the faith, they farm will overcome and the poor workmanship will be repaired or replaced. Job was tested to beyond human resolve but was rewarded for his faith, I know that you and the whole Cornstar Family will reap the rewards and soon enough this tough time will be a small memory and the fun times will roll in. One love Cornstar Family keep pressing and we will all pray for you

    This bin site is so dangerous that you’d be smart to get the judge or arbitrator to have a scaffolding erected around it so nobody falls. Otherwise they should be liable for business impairment and elevate risk premiums (that your insurance company could assess) for the farm operations. Maybe the liability needs to start cascading for the contractor’s lawyer to find motivation to settle this case so repairs can get started???

      That is because it wasn't agi that made the site they only supplied the bins to the contractor that built the bin site. Inexperience and youth played a major part in the problems with Cole and the bin site, just hope they have good construction lawyers on the case and get a trusted company to rebuild/fix everything
