  • This is the second to last beer review from the Better Beer Authority. Yin & Yang are two separate beers from the Evil Twin Brewing Company. One is an imperial stout and the other is an imperial IPA. They are designed to be mixed together into a high-octaine black & tan. Is this a great idea or just another gimmick? The Better Beer Authority tastes them blind and gives you the straight forward scoop on whether you should plunk down your hard-earned cash.

"On Tap -- Yin & Yang
Hi. I'm James Knott and this is your Better Beer Authority. Today we are reviewing not one, but two beers in our blind taste test -- or is it three. Yin and Yang are two beers from the Evil Twin Brewing Company. Evil Twin is a "gypsy" brewery that brews its beers at other craft breweries that have extra capacity around the world.
Yin and Yang were brewed with Brewdog in Scotland -- who are famous for making some of the strongest beers in the world.
These two beers are designed to be drank by themselves or mixed together as a black and tan. Yin is a 10 percent Imperial stout and Yang is a 10 percent Imperial IPA. We will mix them together and give you 3 different ratings for these beers.
Let the blind taste test trifecta begin."

What a fun night! It was too bad these beers didn't blend together very well. They were definitely better kept separate. I love when Chef sat down he looked so confused. Haha good times. I think me and Nick both agreed the Imperial Stout was the best. Definitely agree with the scores too. It's too bad they were so expensive. Thanks again for the fun time James! We gotta get together again at some point. Cheers guys! Best Evil Twin beer so far is Imperial Biscotti Break.

I had a bottle of Ying & Yang a few months ago, the one that comes already mixed together. It was pretty great!

really surprised by this! i bought a few of these and was disappointed by them on their own but was blown away by the combination of them. picked up 2 more of each this afternoon infact! not a fan of either by themselves.. maybe ill try doing all 3 side by side like you guys and see if my opinion changes.

I have tried something kinda similar, a bar in DC serves DC Brau The Public (Pale ale) and Guinness. the mix was actually quite good.

They bottle it already mixed together, but it's not an even mix.... I don't think it was meant to be mixed by yourself

I wish I could get me some friends together to continue BBA on a separate channel. Unfortunately, people that I think WOULD do it live too damn far away. #Suicide
