  • Just a quick video on how to replace stones. Make sure you fill all the voids you can, use mortar that's fell on the sheets and old bits of rubble and make sure you pack it back.

Lovely neat job that: look like they grew there 👍🏻. I’m always surprised how dry your mortar is because I would naturally assume it needs to be wetter so it’s something I’ll need to consider when I start on my house. Excellent demo, thanks.

      Thank you
I use a semi dry mix as you can control it better it doesn't stain the brick or stone
The joints are damp that your pointing and I mist it with water after I point
If its too wet it can stain and crack
If you need any advise or have any questions feel free to ask

Been working on an old Watchtower faced with beach cobbles ( all 40,000 of them!) for nearly 20 years and even so enjoy watching your videos. Have to say I find using gloved hands the only way to apply the mortar as the curved and varied gaps between the cobbles make use of a trowel really awkward.

Hi Glenn. Thank you for sharing your skill and technique here. I have found it very helpful as I am working on an old schoolhouse that was rendered in cement and now I am removing this and repairing as I go. Do you have any advice or video on tidying up wall corners and returns to door architraves ?

hi, is it possible to do this as you point or should you always do this before then point the next day?
