When my grandmother passed away, I was so glad to be able to go thru her things & select those items that held some childhood memories. She had a collection of buttons, too, that she kept in a sewing container that I used to go thru as a child. There were so many beautiful buttons. Now I have them❤
Lovely crystal buttons, such a treasure! Both of my grandmothers had big button tins! Nothing was wasted. When clothing became to worn to use for anything but a rag, all the buttons were removed and saved for the next sewing project. Metal zippers as well if still in good repair. I don't remember crstal buttons but I do remember the beautiful pearl buttons. My favorite thing as a child was sorting, counting and playing in those beautiful tins filled with tiny treasures. Such memories you imvoked today. Thank you Collette for the views, the birdsong and memories with my morning coffee

My dear Colette, you are an amazing human being and a great inspiration for many people in the world. We bought a house with a small land around the same age you purchase yours in Ireland. Since then you became a role model to us. Our land is not so big as yours, but we want to transforme it in a small woodland garden with wild life all around us. Thank you for this beautifull video. It was pure medicine for our souls.

When my Gran died, got one of her China teacups & saucer. She only used them on special occasions. Now I have tea in it every morning.The cottage & the garden look so peaceful in the spring morning light. I love the buttons and wonder if they were hung in the window catching the sun light how they would sparkle.😊 I cherish the things they leave us & can imagine what those buttons might have been worn on. Everything comes back around full circle. Love & blessings to everyone🙏
I will never take your video’s for granted. They are as beautiful as the woodland you started all those years ago. These early morning birdsongs, the music from Mother Earth. I am still struck with wonder as I follow you on your morning walk with Patsy. I love your sense of humor and whimsy I detect in the numerous little treasures hiding in the undergrowth. Mother nature's handiwork is truly AMAZING! Looking at your land and the exquisite beauty is so encouraging. It's a sneak preview of what I can expect on my own little piece of land. A week and a half ago we had 15 inches of snow which melted in 3 days, but we're still getting frosts most nights. The trees are in bud displaying a reddish hue as I scan the treetops. A few bulbs are starting to push their leaves up to the light and the rhubarb is bulging out of the ground. All these things give me great joy! Thank you for such a lovely video. You are a blessing to so many of us!

Colette, you could attach little hooks and hang them around the rim of a lamp, or string them across a window and create beautiful rainbows across the room. So pretty. I'm glad that you have them now. I was able to hear the cuckoo bird here and there throughout your video. So lovely to hear all of your beautiful bird songs. Your videos always have a calming effect on me and help to lower my blood pressure. Colette, this is such a soothing garden walkabout today. Love hearing the cuckoo. Where I live there are presently millions of 13 year cicadas hatching. The resulting very loud droning sound is a constant background noise for the past few days. This is expected to go on for about a month. Purple martins returned on March 19 as is there customary date and also the Ruby throated hummingbirds. Soon will be time at dusk for the call of the whipperwill followed by the calls of our local Bobwhite quail. Isn’t nature so lovely and mysterious too. Blessings to you and yours.
Love the crystal buttons - I think I’d have to thread them on a satin ribbon and wear them as a necklace to be close to them so lovely!

I have not heard a cuckoo since I was a young child in Yorkshire, many,many years ago.
I am blessed to have trees 🌳 that I look out on from my bedroom window and obviously the birds and squirrels, so I have the sights and sounds of Mother earth around me.

Your gardens are always an inspiration! Here in Tidewater Virginia the azaleas are in full bloom and my five precious ash trees have survived the winter unscathed. A bluebird couple has taken up nesting and the young ones should be popping out soon! Thank you for inspiring me to treasure every moment at Bealtaine Cottage and in my own gardens!

I heard the cuckoo on Sliabh an Iarainn the same day Colette, the bird song at the moment is amazing, I loved that video Colette, I could hear so many birds around you in your beautiful woodland! The song thrush was very vocal at the beginning when you showed the beautiful crystal buttons! I could hear the willow warbler, the wren, Robin, black cap, bluetit and so many others! And especially the cuckoo, I look forward to the cuckoo every year, and I was excited to see my first swallow yesterday, along with this absolutely beautiful weather it does the heart good!❤
It's so nice for me here in the PNW of America as the time difference means I often get to awake to one of Colette's videos to start my day that she downloaded overnight our time (thankful for that internet you got Colette so you are sharing more!). The return of the Cuckoo this morning was an added treat!

The town where I live uses the cuckoo sound, in a more rapid pattern, as the audio at lighted crosswalks for blind people to know when it is safe to cross the street. So the streets call us 'cuckoo' all day long. LOL

Colette you are awesome. You put up another video just when I needed to hear some bird song! Everything where I am in northern Ontario is grey and soggy today, and the only birds making any noise are the pigeons who have colonized my carport.
Hello and good day to you. I used to collect buttons. Your crystal buttons were coat buttons popular in the 1920s. The smaller ones would have been on the sleeves.
Faux crystal or Lucite buttons were popular in the 1940's into the 1950s. Lucite was an invention of the 2nd world war, mainly used as windshields in airplanes.
Oh the cuckoo she’s a pretty bird she warbles as she flies, she never drinks water till the first day of July. Your birdsong is different from here in Washington State, but just as sweet. I have a cuckoo clock, its kind of fun how they emulated that sound so well.
