    So thankful there are actual professional videographers making videos about their gear instead of the mass amounts of people that only make camera reviews with their gear. Oh yeah I got my A7IV a couple of days ago! Getting myself intimate with all the settings before I head out.

      I don't think Sony a7 IV is mostly used by professional videographers. So probably most would take benefit from the videos that you complained about...

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut Před 2 lety +1

      @ Actually movie and TV videographers would be less likely to use it but the A7III was extremely popular among professional wedding, event, and stock videographers. Most of the CZcamsrs I'm referring to will be making a new video of another camera or drone offered to them by manufacturers before even a week passes by.

    •  Před 2 lety

      @@JayWandersOut I get you and yes, I can understand it. But still, I just think every opinion matters to someone if not another... Appreciation doesn't need comparison. That was my feeling :)

    nice to see a real world usage of the camera and the compensation for the minor crop issue. can't say any professional I know would drop a camera just because you need to change lens for for 50/60frames mode but reading the youtube comments you could end up thinking there are no professionals in the community LOL 😂

    What helps my understanding tremendously is following a professional's workflow using the "tool of choice" - this is what sets you apart from the many content providers that simply run through menu settings and/or regurgitate company product marketing material. Thanks for allowing me to benefit from your real-world education regarding the "What", "Why", and "How."

    Appreciate the review, agree on the crop.. in studio work, if the DP or director wants a 35mm 4K, they get 35mm 4K. No excuses on the crop. They'll just tell you to throw the camera away and get another camera.

    • @tonytech5520
      @tonytech5520 Před 2 lety +1

      When it comes to motion pictures, 35mm wasn't the same as 35mm in still photography. For a long time the cinema standard was Super 35, which has a crop factor similar to APS-C (1.5). That has started to changed with the advent of full-frame cinematography.

I would have absolutely upgraded all 3 cams to the a7iv if they unlocked the crop and also a few minor things. My Riii’s also crop in 4K, which I’ve adapted to, but would be nice to not have that. After watching this video, I took my A7iv out for a test shoot. I found this 5-foot wide water fountain near my home to test with. I was using the Viltrox 24mm f/1.8 lens. I shot the fountain at 24fps. Then switched to S&Q to shoot at 60fps. In my S&Q shot, I only had to step back 1-1/2 feet (0.467 meters) to achieve the same composition as the 24fps shot.
    As a filmmaker of narrative films, I don't have an issue with the 4K 60fps crop. Whatever camera I'm shooting with, I adapt to its limitations when needed. In the case of 60fps, I don't shoot in that frame rate that often. If I did, I would plan for it. In the case of my fountain shot, the 4K 60fps crop had very little effect on my choices when it came to composition.

      Even if he wasn't recording in the Atomos, he's using it as a monitor. A very good one, as it is. Good size, very bright, great colors, you can apply LUTs, etc. Better than the camera display, more customizable. And there's also a HDMI out, so he can send the video signal to an external monitor so the director (and crew) can watch it as he films it.

    Would you say the a7iii is still a useful camera to get?
    Just wondering if it's worth the extra $1200AUD for the newer model?

    Nice. I’ve been thinking about getting a a7iv to replace my a7iii as a B cam but that crop really has me on edge 😭. It looks amazing though and would pair with my a7siii seamlessly. Do you have a link to the dummy battery ?

    I shot indoors for 30 minutes and had overheating issue. Were you using the XAVC Intradrame codec?

    Hi Jason, thank you for the great content. I have the a7iv and am having trouble sending 4K 60 to atamos ninja v… I get no signal. 24 and 30 comes in clean. I am not trying to capture external raw, just prores422. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you all for your help.
