  • In this video we show a custom lens color transformation we created. We added Blue Bell light blue indoor lens tint to a Transitions XTRActive Brown lens. The results it a beautiful fashion tint that can be worn indoors and at night that changes to dark brown in sunlight.

    This is amazing!! I have a few questions, though: What % tint is the light blue tint? Can you make it gradient over transitions, and can you customize clear lenses that were made elsewhere? Have found if a tinted lens can help those with ocular albinism and nystagmus read better, by creating more contrast?

    • @HicksBrunsonEyewear
      @HicksBrunsonEyewear  Před rokem +4

      The Blue Bell color is about 30%, or what we would call a category 1 darkness. It is designed to be worn indoors. We can make it gradient over transitions. We can only tint new lenses. Attempting to tint lenses already made is risky because the lenses can be damaged.

    Love this!! Is the base blue tint 10-15% or 30%? It appears there is no flash coating on top. Also will the blue tint base have AR on front? I understand if Flash coating is added, AR won't be there on front.
    I may stop by your store this thursday to see few tint options. I am driving from out of town and you guys are wicked cool in tinting options!! I was trying to see some tint options on JMM Ichikawa and Taos Hopper.

      I would describe the baser tint as closer to 20 to 30%. There is no flash mirror, and there is a full AR on front and back. I would love to help you explore the various tint and mirror options that we have here at the store. I look forward to meeting you on Thursday! -Daniel Brunson

      Yes, with that combo you will see a yellow color especially when you place the lenses face down on white paper. Colored mirrors will always cause a color shift. I covered this topic in a video. Check it out here: czcams.com/video/Ag29dB3G8vM/video.html

    I have a question. I've seen this video and another video where you do a blue gold gradient on a transitions sapphire and I'm trying to get this done at a local optician. However, he said it's very difficult to tint certain types of lenses because of the hard coating on them. He specifically said if the transition lens has an anti reflective coating on it already it would be hard to tint. Can you please give me some insight into this and explain to me your process as well as how you apply coatings? I really want to get this done, but he made it seem like it was a difficult process. Thanks.

      @@HicksBrunsonEyewear I'm located in Canada so I wouldn't be able to go to you guys directly. I've actually visited another place as well and they more or less gave me the same response. So my question is do I just have to keep looking around to find someone that actually does know how to do this and is it that complicated to do.
      Basically I was told that it could be done if there was no additional AR coating on the stock lens. So if I ordered a stock Transitions Lens with no AR coating, then he could manually apply the tint himself and it would work. However, the type of transitions I wanted (i.e the Sapphire colour) was surfaced and already had all the coatings applied at the lab and therefore when sent to him, it would be hard to tint because the colour would not attach well to the coated lens.

    Can we use this for laptop use. For making it in using laptop what are the things to be done for this spec??

    • @HicksBrunsonEyewear
      @HicksBrunsonEyewear  Před rokem

      The light blue color can be good for laptop use, but the only way to get light brown for maximum sunlight would be to used a fixed tint that is light brown. Transitions lenses will automatically darken to a dark brown in maximum sunlight.

      Blue tint is not bad. Many people find the blue color soothing. Blue light from screens can cause eye strain for some people, but blue tints will not add to the digital blue light strain. Selecting a tint color is more about personal preference.

      In most cases the base tint color is light enough to be used indoors. Therefore it pretty much gets completely absorbed by the Transitions color when the lens darkens. Any color mixing effects will be completely cancelled out.
