Blue Dragon Low Level - Phantom Dragon

  • This is one of the dragons I expected to be one of the hardest (the other being the Spark Dragon but we’ll get to that one tomorrow) and I think I’m still confident in saying that it’s the hardest, mainly because of what you CAN'T hit it with, more than anything. It absorbs both physical and Dark. So Shadowus (which would give the highest damage output) and Corporeals were off the table. Flarus has the next highest damage output so I was left using that. This did made the fight a lot more time consuming.
    Like with the Blizzard Dragon, the AOE that Phantom has hits more than once so Wallus only minimises damage instead of blocking it entirely. It’s also a physical attack so Shieldus is necessary to lower the damage of the hits following the first and also any that I’m unable to wall. Jiro and Marumaro’s jobs were to keep the party healed and walled up, putting Shieldus back up when it wore off and, given how long this fight went on for, it did wear off. Quite often. Zola was on Support Magic duty and didn't get much chance to fit attacks in. Damage was coming almost exclusively from Kluke. Shu was just a brick wall in this fight. Which he is in most fights, to be fair, but he literally couldn’t actually deal any damage since he only has access to physical attacks.
    Maintenance was the main focus of this fight and was another reason why it was so time consuming. There were also times where I had to divert Kluke’s attention away from attacking to healing because I needed both Jiro and Marumaro to be using Barrier Magic.
