When has anyone who followed Marcel offered him that degree of loyalty? Name a scene? Klaus is the king he had loyalty of a much greater class than Marcel I mean have you seen Greta Martin and Maddox? The chickens came home to roost in Season 5, as a consequence of how Marcel ran the city. Segregation, supremacy of vampires, subjugation of wolves/witches. His way of running the city divided the factions and brought the Originals to New Orleans.
I actually wish Elijah told Marcel that the reason he turned suddenly hostile was because Klaus was jealous and afraid to lose Marcel to Elijah. Also Kol was brutal, Marcellus is family. The adopted son of Niklaus and the first glimmer of hope he had before Hope.
I also think Elijah should have told him. I don't think it would have changed everything, but I think it could have put the familial love they have into perspective. It definitely would've changed how Marcel looked at them for sure, I dont think it would have stopped him from taking the serum and trying to kill them all, but it would have added an extra layer to it.

And guess what 2 things 1 Klaus is a better leader than Elijah which automatically makes him better than Marcel as well and 2 Diego eventually decided to join him only out of revenge for Thierry not because of good leadership and he died for nothing pointlessly like a coward running in a war he had no chance in. On top of all this Marcel's lack of good leadership skills is evident by episode 21 where he brought his army of less armed vampires than in 1x8 into enemy territory and left them to fight and lose easily against an original that they lost to before while he thought he could take Klaus alone and his whole army died while he was only spared by Klaus's mercy. And let me tell you what the originals achieved in the loss during an attack against their people when they were after being poisoned attacked from all sides by Mort Vivants who were insanely powerful and harder to kill than the terminator and guess what Klaus didn't fall to his knees and pledge allegiance to their leader like Marcel did to Klaus without even fighting himself he instantly got up and rounded up a division to lead on one side of the fight himself while his siblings took the other sides and they despite at the times not knowing how to kill the Mort Vivants due to not fighting them before while also being unarmed and vastly outnumbered as well as weakened from being poisoned still won that battle and made the all powerful witches retreat where as Marcel couldn't even beat the warewolves without the witches help. I mean no matter what you say the originals are much better war generals to have on your side than Marcel and your far more likely to gain power and win with them as your leaders than Marcel who failed everyone he ever led.

Is that supposed to be a good thing? Is bullying another person something to be applauded? What if you are in Marcellus position? Would you be grilling as you are right now? When has anyone who followed Marcel offered him that degree of loyalty? Name a scene? Klaus is the king he had loyalty of a much greater class than Marcel I mean have you seen Greta Martin and Maddox? They were litteraly willing to sell out their own families for Klaus without a second thought and considered him the new order where as Marcel's closest man killed on of his vampires for nothing, hundreds of them he buried in the garden for being disloyal supposedly and those so called loyal vamps of his chose to follow Klaus over him by trying to stop him from taking Davina in 1x11 even though Klaus gave Marcel the same authority. The chickens came home to roost in Season 5, as a consequence of how Marcel ran the city. Segregation, supremacy of vampires, subjugation of wolves/witches. His way of running the city divided the factions and brought the Originals to New Orleans.

I actually wish Elijah told Marcel that the reason he turned suddenly hostile was because Klaus was jealous and afraid to lose Marcel to Elijah. Also Kol was brutal, Marcellus is family. The adopted son of Niklaus and the first glimmer of hope he had before Hope.
I remember how Elijah coldly told Marcel that the family no longer needed him to help keep Klaus connected to his humanity as soon as Hope was born.
I also think Elijah should have told him. I don't think it would have changed everything, but I think it could have put the familial love they have into perspective. It definitely would've changed how Marcel looked at them for sure, I dont think it would have stopped him from taking the serum and trying to kill them all, but it would have added an extra layer to it.

On top of all this Marcel's lack of good leadership skills is evident by episode 21 where he brought his army of less armed vampires than in 1x8 into enemy territory and left them to fight and lose easily against an original that they lost to before while he thought he could take Klaus alone and his whole army died while he was only spared by Klaus's mercy. And let me tell you what the originals achieved in the loss during an attack against their people when they were after being poisoned attacked from all sides by Mort Vivants who were insanely powerful and harder to kill than the terminator and guess what Klaus didn't fall to his knees and pledge allegiance to their leader like Marcel did to Klaus without even fighting himself he instantly got up and rounded up a division to lead on one side of the fight himself while his siblings took the other sides and they despite at the times not knowing how to kill the Mort Vivants due to not fighting them before while also being unarmed and vastly outnumbered as well as weakened from being poisoned still won that battle and made the all powerful witches retreat where as Marcel couldn't even beat the warewolves without the witches help. I mean no matter what you say the originals are much better war generals to have on your side than Marcel and your far more likely to gain power and win with them as your leaders than Marcel who failed everyone he ever led.
