btw, your description says "I am but the exception (ugly and unfunny)",
"but [sentence]" typically means the complement of it, so you are saying that you aren't in the exception(with the aforementioned context being your title) meaning that you fit the proposition that the "The Ugliest People are the Funniest".
I think you meant this instead : That I am part of the ugliest but not the funniest. If so, the "but" was a bad choice
