- This is more of a want than a need!! I had been shopping for a semi-auto 22 WMR, but not did not put a lot of effort into it as I already have a 22WMR bolt action that I can use. In GA to hunt the wild pigs on a WMA during small game season you have to use a small game weapon. I know a 22 LR can kill a pig with the correct shot placement, but a 22 WMR should be a little more effective. Having that round in a semi-auto to allow for really fast follow up shots also makes you feel more comfortable as well. In the best-case scenario, I'd rather just have a good center fire high power rifle, but as stated on the WMA during small game season that is not allowed. That is also why it is a want more than a need as I don't have to hunt the WMA for wild pigs but given the abundance of opportunity, I like to take advantage of the situation. With that, when my local gun shop had this on the wall for just over $200.00, I went ahead and grabbed it. It sure is fun shooting the 22 WMR in a semi-auto platform.

I was searching for a semi auto 22 lr when i found my rosdi rs22m......Im glad i did i love this rifle
Pretty much the same with me. I had researched a few semi-auto 22wmr when my shop got this one in. It was a great price and I got it. Shoots great and I have yet to have a mis-feed or any issue with operation. I just didn't secure the rail so it became lose on me.
Thanks Cervus I appreciate 22mag. Have Pmr-30, 2 of them . One of my daughter's car guns. Heather used for her carry permit 2 years ago. Mine just for fun. Thanks
Thanks, yeah I think this Rossi and my PMR-30 will make a good pair.
That’s nice Cervus congratulations on you getting it
Thanks!
For the price the Rossi is a good deal.I do nuisance wildlife control and kill Feral hogs and Coyotes at 50 & 75 yards.I have used .22LR at 50 yards over bait with good success. I NOTICED THE ROSSI 22WMR LIKES 35 GRAIN CCI A22 ammo.I noticed the screws that hold the action in the stock were loose After tightening them accuracy improved quite a bit.I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it. 😊
Thanks for the comment. I actually was able to take it out this past weekend to a WMA for a spot and stalk pig hunt. I didn't see any pigs on this hunt unfortunately. I did sight it in at 50 yards and it shoots quite well. I picked up some of the A22 ammo this week for it. I'll also verify that the stock screw is secure. Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated.
At least the second plate had fresh paint...!!!👍👍
I'm not sure as I'd have to go back and look at the video, but I think the first plate was black and hard to see overall. I found that the white shows not only the hits better, but the over all target against a dark background. And yes I do not repaint them between each same day sessions. Likely the second plate was from another day.
I bought this rifle for small game hunting.I have added a Lucid HD7 Gen 4 with the 2x magnifier and a Champion 6x9 bipod installed on the sling eyelet. This is the perfect set up for my needs. I highly recommend this rifle to anyone who has the want and need to get one. It shoots straight and is very accurate. It is also very reliable.I put 100 rounds through it with no malfunctions.
I agree this rifle is well worth the money. I've had no malfunctions either with mine. The only issue I had was the rail came lose so I just recommend that people use the blue loctite on the screws and torque it to 25-30 inch mounds before setting up your optic. Over all this is a great rife at a great price.
@@cervus-venator I learned my lesson long ago that all new firearms with screws and any attachments. They need to be taken apart, cleaned up all screws and attachments need to have Loctktite applied . They have the tendency to shake themselves apart. Usually quite quickly too.
@@russellleavitt4449 Yes sir. I have another video on this rifle I posted just a week or two ago and it all about the rail coming lose and me not knowing it. I knew better, but sometimes you need a rap on the noggin for a good reminder. LOL Thanks!!
this is the best gun i have purchased its amazing never had a problem amd never had a not even one malfunction
That's awesome! I had one little issue with mine and that is the screws holding down the base plate came lose. I couldn't figure out why it was all of a sudden off. When I took the scope off I found the screws in the base plate were lose and they had not used loctite on them. I put some on the screws, torqued them down to about 30 inch pounds and have not had any issues since. It is a great shooting rifle and I loved the price too.
Seems to be a nice budget rifle she shot really well Be Safe and God Bless 🙏🙏🎅
Yeah, wasn't expensive at all and it seems to work just fine. I think I'll enjoy it.
I have this rifle too. The only downside so far which isn’t even that bad once you figure out the trick, is reassembly of the main spring. It’s a little tricky the first time. She always eats everything tho so I can’t complain. I kept checking the website for spare mags and bought a few when they came available
Thanks, and good to know info on the main spring as well as how it continues to eat everything. I'll certainly keep the main spring info in mind when I break it down. I too want to get at least a couple more mags for it. Thanks again.
Magwharehouse has them.
@@BLACKRIFLEREVIEWS Thanks so much
@@cervus-venator what bullet weight is the most accurate in the Rossi Rifle you own ??
@@BLACKRIFLEREVIEWS I haven't been able to test much on variety of weights, but I did test some different brands. Armscor 40gr, Winchester Super X HP 50gr, Winchester Super X FMJ 40gr, Federal 50gr, CCI Maxi-Mag HP 40gr, Maxi-Mag +V 30gr. Surprisingly those 30 grain did real well. I only shot a few, but I was surprised. I'll have to do some more testing to see what grain does the best overall.
Excellent!
Many thanks!
How does the chamber on yours look compared to mine? Any bulged cases?
I'll have to compare it visually to yours in your video. I do have the casings from where i shot that day. Initially I did not notice any bulging at all, but I'll go get them out of the bag of brass from the day's shooting and inspect them closely. I was shooting Armscor ammo that day. I'll let you know what I find.
Just an FYI on the cases. I looked closely at them and right next to the rim I can make out an ever so slight bulge, but it is so small that you may miss it. I'm thinking in the 1000ths of an inch and again it is right at the rim and does not appear to be all the way around the case, but just in a small spot. In looking at the chamber it doesn't look like yours in that I don't see the same beveling/recess that I could see in your video. It looks flush from the chamber on out to the head of the barrel.
@@cervus-venator Thanks for the update.
Are you left eye dominant??? Just curious because you were holding the rifle quite aways to your left shoulder.
No, I use my right eye. Based on your question, yes I am holing it quite away from my left shoulder as it is held on my right shoulder. However I went back and looked and I think you were asking if I am left eye dominate because it appears that i am holding it away from my right shoulder more towards the center of my chest and looking perhaps with my left eye. I think that is a camera angle creating that appearance. I assure you that I tuck the butt of the stock into my shoulder just above the arm pit and I use my right eye. Now I do have issue with the glasses sometime as I form my cheek weld a lot of times the top of my glasses line up right in my line of sight looking through a scope. That can also make me adjust some to give an odd appearance. Anyway, it was a good observation. I have several other videos where I'm shooting a rifle and they are at different angles some from the side, others from the front so you can see better how I hold and look through the scope. This is one: czcams.com/video/OyeZkQY9Aqs/video.html
Ive been shooting the 22lr verison of this Rossi and finally got it perfectly sighted in earlier today. These are such great shooters. Ive got a 22wmr pistol and now Ive been looking for one of the 22 mags for hogs as well. Thanks for the unboxing and run down.
Cool, yeah I am really impressed with it and for the price you can't beat it. Overall, it is a really fun gun to shoot. I can't wait to tag a hog with it.
Nice Rifle, I want one!
Thanks!! to me it is well worth the money. Get one if you can.
My Rossi RS22 was $99 at Murdochs in Parker, Colorado in 2019.
That's the .22lr correct or is it also a .22 WMR? Either way that is one heck of an awesome price for a new gun! 👍🏼
@@cervus-venator No, it is just a .22 LR.
I have a Heritage Rough Rider single action revolver, and for $30 you can buy another cylinder for 22 WMR.
@@cervus-venator The cheapest I ever bought, second was the Rough Rider for $129 for .22.
Yeah the Heritage Rough Rider is very popular and having the ability to get the 22 WMR cylinder makes it that much more desirable. The Rossi was certainly a great deal.
@@cervus-venator The Rossi is a steal, the Heritage seems true value pricing. I do like the sights on the revolver, a groove and a slash.
Nice video.. Do you think I should take it apart before shooting out of box?. .I have bad experience with springs..
I would not. The rail on top needs to be reset with some blue lock tight before mounting an optic. Mine had oil on the bolt so no need to break down and possibly lose a spring. lol.
Thanks
Unfortunately, I can't have the semi-auto in Australia, so I had to settle for the lever action Rio Bravo model in 22 magnum.
I'd take that one myself. Thanks Frank!!
@cervus-venator actually had my heart set on a Henry, but Henry's are really hard to get at the moment down here so I got the Rossi.
Did you take it all apart and clean and lube? I am getting one for Christmas and really don't want to have t take it all apart..have had bad luck putting the springs back
Dana I did not. If it has a heavy coating of the shipping oil on it you can wipe it down or even spray a cleaner in the bolt area, dry it as best as possible to get that shipping oil out and then add a very light coat of Rem oil or other gun lube in the bolt area of the receiver. Mine did not have a lot of shipping oil, but it did have some. After my initial test firing I wiped it down with a dry cotton rag to remove any excess oil and then put a couple of drops of Lucus gun oil in the receiver area.
@@cervus-venator Awesome..I can do that.. should I run a swab of Hoppe's down the barrel? And thanks for your reply😀😀😀
@@cervus-venator I have ome Mil spec CLP spray and rem oil spray
@@danabates7560 Yes on swabbing the barrel.
@@cervus-venator Thanks and I will get some Blue Loctite for the rail screws.. then clean and then mount the Simmons .22Mag 3-9 scope
💥
Thanks!!
On my wish list. 🤗
Hi Teresa, I really enjoy shooting this little rifle. It is light, has yet to fail on any ammo I've fed it and it shoots well. I have another video coming out on it in a day or so. It is actually concerning an issue I had with it. The rail that comes from the factory had become lose. I suggest to anyone that gets one to LocTite the rail screws before putting an optic on it. I'd looked at a couple of other semi-auto 22 WMR rifles and for the price this one can't be beat. It's a great shooter.
@@cervus-venator TY Coyote reduction tool. 😁
@@teresaupchurch9032 Yes, a very capable choice for sure.
Great group to Cervus with no sites
Thanks. Just trying to hold it in the same general area after the first hit.
It appears to be going bang. Cervus, are you pulling that trigger?
Nope, squeezing it.

Today was an optics day for me. Got a new 6.5 Grendel, a 16" hunter, last night hung a Roger's Suoer Stock ( absolute solid lockup ) on the New Frontier billet lower, with nickel boron LPK.
A Denver vintage but like new 3x9 Redfield Illuminator ( same as my .270 Rem. 700 BDL has had on it since mid 80's ) mounted on a very economic, but pleading Monstrum lite weight mount.
Added the QDC sling and she's gtg.
The other optic, was a 1.5x5 LPV with tan same model Monstrum mount. This is for one of the 7.62x39 AR's. It's the first under 3 power scope I've ever had, and am really impressed with how it is an aid visually for close up work. I think the piggies will like it too.
I'm old school, but trying to get with the new programs.
Figured this evening, you'd be in a stand somewhere.
The 22 WMR will serve you well. Functional, and if you hunt small game season or need to thin out the coyotes after deer season, that just what the doctor ordered.
@@boogerdog5247 Remember that red clay we talked about? That's what kept me out as that storm blew through here around 3:30 Eastern time. I didn't want to go out there in that muck. I've actually not hunted all week. I'll start hunting Alabama this coming week and will likely hit it hard for the remainder of the month. In January I'll try and get a pig for the freezer. My place in Stewart County is covered in pigs so I'll likely head out there. It is close to Benning.

Lol, I used to slide over that railroad overpass into Phoenix City around that 3 a.m. time, headed for Lee County, Al. Gosh I miss that honey hole! 1,800 acres, 900 on one side of the Soughatchee, 900 acres on the other, between Notasulga and Loachapoka.
Rut in Al. begins soon, so they should cooperate with you.
I can't believe the horrific damage and life lost last night. I watched into the night, but had no idea how bad it was until the sun came up.
@@boogerdog5247 Same here. I was watching all morning just saying a prayer for the lost and their surviving family and friends. It brought back memories of the terrible tornado that came by the house a few years ago that killed so many children hear in East Alabama.
Muito bom!!
Obrigado. Eu com certeza gosto deste.
I’d like to have one of them rifles but I’d want it tube fed. I’d lose the mag first trip in the woods. Cervus my friend I’ll see you on the next one be safe and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
My dad and I lost his tube magazine once while squirrel hunting. It must have slid out as we were walking and we never found it.
Well I tried to find your "follow-up on paper" video but it appears there is none. Interestingly yours is the 3rd video I've watched on these Rossi rifles in which a follow-up with better accuracy testing was promised but never delivered. At this point I'm done searching for an accuracy video and must presume the rifles are junk and simply do not warrant said follow-up video.
Thank you, and I'm off to buy a Ruger.
Thanks for the comment. I remember shooting paper with it after this video, but I can't say if I recorded it or not. I'll have to go look through several SD cards to see. I took it to a range and made sure the zero was on as we went to hunt wild hogs on a WMA later that day. Either way, If you can find a Ruger semi-auto WMR, you'll have a really nice rifle. I am not disappointed in this Rossi as it held zero just fine. It isn't a target rifle, but I had no issues with it hitting where I aimed on the target.
I would a bought one of these years ago but they won't put open / iron sights on it.
Jim I am not sure why they will not do that. I can only guess that it is a cost savings for them to not include the open sights. For me personally I've been shooting with optics for so long that the majority of my rifles have a scope, this one included. However, I agree with you that I think they would broaden their market if they included some open sights of some kind on it.
@@cervus-venator FYI Sportsman's Warehouse has a .22 WMR Savage Bolt Action on sale for $199, regular (when I'll be able to get it) $214. It does have sights.
@@Jim-oo7dk Yes, Savage makes some good stuff. You'll really enjoy that one for sure. I have a old Marlin bolt action that I just love shooting. It does have the open sights, but of course I had to throw an optic on it. Here is the video on it. czcams.com/video/ba5EPzPx7ho/video.html
I’d line it up at 50 yards good luck and GOD BLESS
Thanks, that may be what I do.
👍👍
Thanks!
You need to put a red dot sight on it !!!!
I can do that. Thanks!
Cervus hey buddy
Hello!!!
Why not have all your adjustments and prep work done BEFORE you start the video... ???
Oh I do that on a lot of the videos, but this one was capturing exactly what I was going through to get this sighted in. I've found that some people actually like see that kind of stuff. As the title state "Out of the Box" I had literally taken this out of the box just moment before so there was no prep done. However, as stated a lot of the videos I have are just that. Basically just shooting the rifle or pistol. Thanks for the question and comments!!!
