Leaving alone the rating a critical problem arises in that the 12th passed of 2023 wishing to get degree admission in their dream colleges could no longer do so as enjoyed till 2022. The events in chronological order :-1)Online 12th 2021 examination to pass and jump to college of year 2022 had 2 brand of examinees. 1)Those who consider examination sacrosanct with no prompters or Google or help books lost to 2)Examinees with prompter, google ready and guidebooks made worst by the evualators fresh and with motive to advertise their institution granted 100 percent. Example:-Around 100 Delhites with 96 or 97% in subject of interest with dream colleges lost to same number of Keralites all scoring 100 %.TV discussion showed the girls consoled by professors that next year admission test in all colleges would be held to deliver justice to students. Actually if the professors were serious a week of wait would have solved the problem. The UGC Chairman Rajadesh Kumar, to remove this rot floated CUET or Common Universities Entrance Test.CUET was floated to all states on March. The Edn Minister L Rymbui was the one who vehemently protested against CUET saying it would disadvantage the students. Sadly a week in NEHU, he completely changed his stand and all out to support CUET. Dr Habib of DU protested as it would disadvantage the ICSE and state boards. To me CBSE too would be disadvantaged as like NEET or National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to select doctors, only one mcq (Physics 180 /720)came from CBSE in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Dr Rajesh Thapa of DU feared that CUET was still under discussions, NTA the proprietor of NEET had already jumped to set up CUET coaching centre around Delhi, not fair at all to the rest of India. In the meeting at NEHU only two Principals of UCC and Synod College vehemently protested as rural poors can't afford CUET coaching which is also only in urban areas. And rural students are less expert with handling computer in related fields. Principal of West planned to invite CUET coaching to their place. I wrote in one English daily that CUET is not interested in rural areas and fees not affordable, but my advice to unmindful Principal was never published. The rest of principals did never examined the pros and cons. Yes Kiangnangbah College Principal is paid by the govt and we can't expect any comments. Mr L Rymbui and Conrad Sangma were happy with CUET till all of a sudden they realised there are only 2 colleges Kiang Nangbah and Shillong College which escape the teeth of this CUET. Conrad Sangma flew to Delhi to beg of Mr Pradhan Union Minister of education to exempt CUET for UG aspirants of 2022. Thus 2022 were the last lucky batch of Meghalaya. What about 2023, 24 and so on? And quite problematic indeed our Meghalayans who write in English would compete against the 13 mother tongues with liberty to resort to English when their vocabulary run short. And though not to be suspicious evualators no matter how morally and judiciously strong they may be soft corner for one's mother tongue could not be ruled out. All the states except Meghalaya were put to test on 2022. On July at Noida centre children and parents from all corners of the country thronged at Noida centre. But the notice board read "Due to computer glitch CUET postponed till next week ".Jio, Airtel or Vodaphone are site selective. Thus next week may be next year or never. And train journey and hotel expenditure with acclimatisation especially from colder places would devastate children. And CUET syllabus would be only class 12 th. So what then is the use of hard work from KG to 6th. By 7th choose an honours subject. Teachers assistance till 12 with parents inspiration finally to be questioned by the CUET with MCQs for 3 hours?! PG CUCET has a story. One friend's son of Shillong received messages of his centre Itanagar the day before CUCET. One girl of Shillong got PG Bio Chemistry in university of her choice . But no hostel facility and paying quest not affordable by any stretch of imagination. That old pattern of 12 examination's be it board, CBSE or ICSE with experienced paper setter with principals' approval ,board of moderators tight lipped after sitting and evualators with sleepless nights to deliver justice to examinee with also fear of prayer for reevualation by examinees that could blacklist him/her is not exercised any more. I feel for 2023 UG aspirants of our state. They need train journey, hotel stay and for poors they may not reach the centre. And fear too that all our Khasis, Pnars, Garos, Mikirs ,Nagas and Mizos and our non tribals brothers sisters who look at Shillong as the education hub of the North East may be ousted from their state. Two Universities Martin Luther Christian University and William Carey university have limited subjects though employing but already cramped. Had Professor GG Swell who helped bring NEHU to Meghalaya forseen all these, he and those 1974 educationists would have opted for a State University. SC thanks for the space for the sake of 2023 UG aspirants.
1:50 my maternal uncle's son is an alumnus of Saint Edmunds School. Presently he is studying in laban Bengali boys Higher Secondary School where his father studied
