Celebrating someone's birthday or any special day is not an act of worship. And it's important what they are doing in those days, if it is good deeds it's for greater good , if it's a haram thing ,then it's a sin . But muslims celebrate birthday of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam, by doing good deeds like making salawaths upon him and giving food, reciting Qur'an , and remembering the prophet . All of these considered as good . There's no problems in this.

Celebrating Mowlid means we are praising the most beloved prophet & teaching the characteristics and reviving sunnah. Nothing wrong in that. If you say, you cannot do anything which is not done in the time of Prophet Muhammed Sallallahu Alaihiwasallam, Then you cannot read Al Quran since the harakath and symbols were introduced after many years by a killer named Hajjaj ibnu Yusuf. Also you cannot do Hajj or Omra since there are a lot of geographically changes done in Makkah al muakrrama. Including covering Safa marwa with walls & roofs, ZAM ZAM well is covered and see the constructions and changes append in the Haram shareef etc... You cant have Arabic madrasa or curriculum since there were no evidence for that system in the time of Salaf.
So many fatwas coming out depending on the situation such as, If a person is fasting more than 22 hours in some country, there are some fatawas to fast according to Makkah timing. (I am not telling that correct or wrong) but since Islam is spreading everywhere, this kind of questions arrive.
In this modern days, If we have a event like Mowlid un Nabi sallallahu alaihiwasallam every year, Our children at least learn about the seerah of our most beloved once a year and try to implement sunnah in their lifes.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating the prophet Muhammed (sav). The companions also celebrated Muhammed (sav), that is where we got beautiful things like "Taleal bedru aleyna". If the prophet was against celebrating him, bringing salavah to him, greeting him than he would have taught the companions and warned them, but in fact he said that those who will be the most saved in yevmel Kiyameh are those who gave the most greetings to the prophet Muhammed (sav).

“Celebrating the birth of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is Bid‘ah (innovation in religion). It is authentically reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours (Islam) that is not part of it, will have it rejected.” 1
According to another narration, he (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever does an action which is not in accordance with this matter of ours (Islam), will have it rejected.” 2
The Messenger (peace be upon him) did not celebrate his birthday, nor did he order others to do so, nor did he see one celebrating it and remained silent about it. Also, the Rightly-Guided Caliphs and the Salaf (righteous predecessors) during the first and best three centuries of Islam never celebrated Mawlid; it was invented and introduced after their time.
It is worth mentioning that Shaykh Abdul-‘Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz wrote a detailed answer on this subject.

Wahabi salafi don't celebrate Mawlid based on " kullu biadatin dholalah ........ " Another false / misleading argument is that his companions loved him the most and they didn't celebrate the Mawlid. But listen, you may show your love to someone in different ways, no need to compare one another. One day soon, Imam Mahdi will take over the power over As-Saud dynasty in all aspects. Prophet PBUH himself remembered his birthday and celebrated it by fasting. So, it is ok to any Muslim to remember his/her birthday and celebrate it by doing fasting, reciting Quran, giving donation, etc. In my country, the Mawlid is celebrated with reciting Quran and conveying the sirah nabawiyah. It is for syiar, education, and silaturrahim among Muslims. During his reign, Umar bin Khattab r.a. summons Muslims to do Tarawih for 20 rakaat in Ramadan together, which wasn't done by Prophet PBUH. Prophet PBUH could have asked or ordered his educated / literate companions to write all verses of Quran on paper pages and bind them in form of a book, but he didn't do it. In that time, Prophet PBUH had sent letters to different kings, right ?? New things are not always bad / dhollah as long as they have roots or references to the teaching of Islam.

It was not a solid explanation at all. It begins with the conclusion and then just says that this conclusion is correct based on the claim that if X didn´t do it then nobody else should or that this "not doing" something constitutes proof of the opposite as in something being egregious, false or damaging.
And they wonder where the Golden age of Islam disappeared to? It went to wherever this caliber of thinking comes from...
