This one wouldn’t have been out of place on Phantasmagoria. Except this is much better produced than Phantasmagoria.
While I agree it does sound like it could be from Phantasmagoria easily, I don't think the production is better at all. Where's the guitar? Can barely hear it. These new songs stand up so much better live, much edgier and "Damned", but Visconti completely neutered that in the studio. I don't think he was a good match for producing a Damned record at all.

I don't know what it is about the song but seriously moves me. This is The Damned at their Best the production is Brilliant I love the way this song gallops along i said to PInch at the HMV Signing this has to be a single it's an absolute Corker Scott Walker would of been proud!! The Best song DV has written since The Dog.

to be fair, Pinch in some of the album sounds quite Rat Scabies in the early 80s
He was very nice when I met him and though I was on duty at the club he was playing at he insisted on getting me a drink but wouldn't give me Dave's number..: (

My rat who comment was just a tongue in cheek appreciation of how fantastically well pinch played on the album, we tend to hear pinch playing ratty patterns and rarely get to hear his own drum mind, as for Mr. Scabies he is my ultimate drum hero and was the reason I started playing drums, I think pinch has really stamped his own authority on The Damned with this album , I think that can be said about all the band, it really does sound like a genuine Damned recording. hooray
