@@ifrit05 Guilty as charged. I suspected it was something like that, but as I have never played the game, and the sum total of my knowledge of it comes from the only Southpark episode I’ve ever watched, indeed I didn’t actually get the reference.
There are some video game cinematics that have left me speechless, but this took my breath away. My passion for this universe, flashed before me. I remembered why I used to care

In hindsight I actually think Blizzard did the right thing regarding Arthas in the Shadowlands. They probably realized that they couldn't *not* have Arthas involved in the lore somehow, with the Shadowlands being where all souls go etc, but they also realized they couldn't have him be a proper "entity" that we'd interact with either - His legacy is at a legendary status to the point of any continuation on it in any way would've tarnished the legacy...
At the end of the day I think it is even more tragic (in a... good way?) that only a sliver remained of Arthas's soul. The fact that over the course of his later years, his very soul was broken down/consumed to the point of there being almost *nothing* left of him is all the more tragic than if he'd been there all "'sup nerds, YEP here I am! Now we fight again!" or worse, they tried to give him a redemption arc...
After all, he was the perfect villain and is remembered as such, as is the Lich King fight one of legendary status for plenty of reasons, so whether they had redeemed him, or made us fight him again, nothing they could do would match the legendary status that is the legacy of Arthas Menethil, The Lich King.
@@azaldie I have no problem 'liking' your comment as well as the OP. I was both disappointed and glad for Arthas' exit from the Warcraft universe, I honestly hope he doesn't come back.
@@evage99 they made sure he cannot - but they also made sure that Sylvanas will x) and I'm still on the fence about that one... I think she went too far, stepped on too many toes to be redeemed with a 'cop out' of 'oh it was all the evil part of my soul that did all that', but work with what we got I guess, a good/kind Sylvanas can work too, if and when they decide to bring her out of her maw-prison

I just came across this masterpiece and all I can say is WOW. Just... WOW. Invincible has been one of my all time favorite scores and this rendition is absolutely breathtaking. You have really captured the emotion and power of this song. I can absolutely hear this rendition being played when Arthas is laid to rest after the events of Icecrown. It's beautiful. You've completely encapsulated the tragedy of the character and I can't get enough of it. It makes me fall in love with the story all over again. Thank you so much for this!
