Interesting take on the song ... the choir is actually performing “The Winter Rose” ... a completely different song from a Christmas cantata ... and the juxtaposition of the two works is simply stunning. What’s even more amazing is how Leann collects herself after her heart-felt message just before launching into the performance. Simply amazing 🤩 Luv, luv, luv U, LeAnn ... thank you God for bringing this angel into our world.

Yes, it's a setting of "Es ist ein ros entsprungen" written by Michael Praetorious in 1609, but it's a Christmas choral favourite and a hymn to the Blessed Virgin; she's The Rose. This is a wonderful setting for it, how LeAnne and the guys found their notes was remarkable. 12/10 for everyone.
Didn’t know so many people didn’t recognize the Christmas carol the choir was singing. I come back every Xmas season to listen to this great mix of pop and sacred music. Leanne is a treasure.

The conductor of the choir is Tim Seelig, the amazing conductor of Dallas' Turtle Creek Chorale. He built the chorale up from nothing, made it world famous, made numerous recordings. And all this while the chorale was being decimated year in and year out by AIDS deaths. Such a dark, dark, time. Such non-stop pain for a decade. I had several friends who sang in the choir until their deaths and for whom the chorale was their closest family.
Dr. Seelig and the chorale by the dint of their bravery, artistry and open, raw emotion performed concerts that dragged audiences and finally the entire city into being their supporters. He is now working with the San Francisco chorale. I wish him success.
And props to Leann. Any one who can sing that song in that context without loosing it is a real professional.
We saw him and the Turtle Creek Chorale, when we lived in Dallas, in the 1990s. It was the first performance when they said that it was the first year that they had not lost anyone. At the beginning they carried out pots of plants, each one representing a singer that they had lost. I think fifty plants. It was very somber. I was singing with a barbershop chorus, "The Men of Note," In Plano, Texas, at the time, and so it was even more sobering, to us, that they lost more singers than we had. Anyway, they did not let anything stop them from a wonderful performance. and now another plague has crossed us. And like before, someone will try to look for a cause. In the end we are all that we have. No matter what the cause, nor matter what the cure will be, in the meantime we only have each other.
There is a video of that concert. I don't know if it's public or not but I saw it and it was very emotional. And of course there is the documentary produced by Dallas's PBS channel called When We No Longer Touch. It is devastating. But it should be watched.
I loved Leann when she was a young girl starting out & she has only gotten better as her voice has matured keep up the great songs you are one of the best female voices there is
I am from the same home town as Leann. She is a blessing & a wonderful soul. After she grew up, her grandparents sold a few play items of hers, a lil kitchen set, dishes, refrigerator, sink with a stove, & a little vacuum cleaner. I was inside this store the day her grandparents brought it in to sale or dispose of it & I got the opportunity to purchase every piece of it. I was beyond thrilled. She was a happy & loved little girl. So happy for her & may God bless & protect her!

The arranger is Craig Hella Johnson. My choir sings this, too, the christmas carol part we sing in German, since it's originally from Germany from the 16th century.
Why is this magnificent woman singer Leeann Rimes not heard from more, she truly is the real deal, not many women singers could come out and perform at this level.

I asked her to marry me. She sat me down, and explained that she might be dying... from AIDS. I took a couple days, to ask God what to do. We got married. Twenty-something years ago. She's been "undetectable" for 20 yrs. I have been helped to be a better man, been given a life worth living. Happier than I have ever been, in 70-something years. Prayers for my younger brother, who left this world in 1994, after a 15-year struggle with his illness. God bless all the people associated with this video.

I always thought Betty Midler was the best but this version by LeAnn is beautiful and with the background singing is a real complement they are also beautiful artists.

Accepting every person, humanity as a guidance to life is rarely expressed with such passion.

I do love this song since the very moment I heard it on the movie The Rose, with the glorious Divine Bete Midler in the 80's. It always made me cry. Don't know why. Now I hear, for the first time in Ms Rimes' voice. She has the voice of an angel. Super.
I am a Christian and I am not gay but I believe that God's love and grace transends all. His love is for all humans, no matter the skin color, the race, the nationality, the religion, being rich or poor, or one's sexual orienatation. His love is greater then anyone will ever know until we meet God when we die. He was disgusted with the cities if Sodom and Gamora because they turned away from God but he still loved the world so much that he sent his only Son to come down to earth to die for us upon the cross. God has forgiven all your sins great or small if you believe in him.
As a result wether you are gay, lesbian, or transgender, God loves you and wants the best for you. Know that you are blessed and loved.
May God be with you today and every day of your life. Do not despair because there are people to help you and a God above to guide you.
I work hard each day to love all humans and not to judge them for that is God's job.

It takes a lot to make me tear up. I haven’t shed a tear in years. Her genuineness, the beautiful “lonely” rose on the stool and her cover of this amazing song had me crying silent tears of empathy and pain.
After the tears, her ability to sing this was amazing. No breakdowns halfway through the song. What she said to the audience before the song is what makes her such a lovely Christian soul

Seriously made me cry. It was the speech in the beginning. I remember when it was so common to hear of kids committing suicide because they were gay. I know it still happens today, but back in my teen days, it was really rampant. I'm glad she has such a kind heart to empathize with that pain. Just beautiful.

I’ve never been able to watch/listen to this and sit stoically. Ive lost gay friends to suicide; many of us have. The hatred for gay men and trans seems to have calmed over the years, and still I hear of the same terrorizing and bullying I experienced when I was a kid.
That a mainstream artist paired up with any gay cause is remarkable even in 2021. I’ll always appreciate her for the outreach.
She also looks like my sister in law, who I also also appreciate for similar reasons.
The pushback for human rights is so courageous it is changing the world.

Not only does she sing a great rendition of the song, but her speech at the beginning, full of emotion reaches my heart every time. When her voice starts breaking I can't help but cry too. It truly is very saddening thinking about the amount of people that have gone through this. Imagine not being free to love the person you love. Imagine hating your own life _so_ much, to the point you actually would rather not be alive ;( The one thing that people can't take or control from each other is who we like/are attracted to/have a crush on. The one thing people should be unbothered about when it comes to others, because after all, love is a business between the people who are in love with each other and no one else. Why is it that people not involved in those relationships care so much?! What is to you if two men kiss each other? What is it to you if two girls hold hands on the street? If you get to hold hands on the street with your wife or husband, why can't others be free to do so too? I just will never understand... I hope everyone in the world can get a chance to be happy, free and feel liberty to be who they truly are. And take care of your mental healths, suicide is a very serious issue that should not be taken lightly. (If you find yourself hating your life so much, please seek help! There's so much to look forward to!)

Yeah, the problem was the times and the fact that Carrie never started her career till 21. LeAnn was a young girl and the Country Music Association treated her like that. The fact she grew into a young, beautiful lady who just happened to fall in love with a married man destroyed her "Little girl" image. The tragedy is it happened to sooo many male singers and they were treated very differently. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Glen Campbell, and others made a mogerry of the "Clean Country Music" image and their careers flourished. Double standard for sure.

I saw an interview with LeAnn and her husband on "Wendy". LeAnn met who she felt was her soulmate. It was a very complicated situation. LeAnn is a very intelligent and I suspect is emotionally mature and is capable of handling her new domestic situation. LeAnn does not owe the population an excuse or explanation which includes the media. Her fans love her and look forward to her performing. God bless LeAnn!

I think there are few female vocalists today or the recent past who are her equal and none that exceed her when it comes to her vocal range and ability to interpret lyrics in such an emotive way. I always stop short of stating who I think is “the best vocalist” because it really doesn’t have to devolve into The Voice or American Idol sort of thing.
She's been an advocate for the gay community ever since she first stepped onto the scene. This woman is truly one of the most talented and amazing artists of our generation. Thank you LeAnn!
