It's not actually clear what made the bit flip happen, the space particle is just one of the theories that could be a possiblity, albeit an insanely unlikely one
To clarify for anyone that might have been confused about the blue lobster thing: the cotton candy lobster isn’t rare just because it’s blue. Basically all lobsters are blue when they’re alive/uncooked. It’s the fact that they’re pastel. It’s kind of like a dilute calico cat vs a normal calico cat. :)

not many people consider this, but if you take a deck of cards and shuffle it, the chance that the same order of cards appeared anywhere in the world since the invention of playing cards is approximately 60 zeroes after the decimal point (i.e 0.0... with 60 zeroes) so thats pretty rare

*Edit- to touch on the two-headed snake thing:* That's actually not as rare as you might think. Iirc, this deformity can occur in virtually any animal that has both a head and an endoskeleton. That said, it's most commonly observed among reptiles and farm cattle. Snakes in particular are one of the most likely animals to reach adulthood with this condition.
Why? I wish I fucking knew. I have no idea *why* snakes are so much better at living with two-heads compared to any other species. I've tried looking deeper into it to understand more, and I've repeatedly failed that quest lol

Hey lud, fellow New Englander and ex lobster fishermen. a blue lobster and a cotton candy lobster are not the same thing, yes a blue lobster is blue but a cotton candy is blue and fades to a pinkish red at the bottom of it, they are 1 in 100 million. we also have calicos also and some half and halfs some times.

Polycephaly in snakes isnt as rare as it seems but one that lives for an extended time is. If they make it past the first few months/a year, they can live a normal life (captive snakes live for 15-25 years give or take depending on species.) Finding it in a wild Copperhead that isnt a baby is insane. It usually is seen in captive bred snakes. They can have otherwise minor issues that kill them in the wild but in captivity are no big deal really. Brian Barczyk the breeder/zoo owner/YTer has a 2 headed Kingsnake (Ben and Jerry 😅) that he paid a large sum for - but they allow for a ton of education and outreach given how unique, striking and attention grabbing they are, not to mention being able to teach about polycephaly itself. Plus they are just cool!

For the record, illustrator is NOT the most rare Pokémon card. It’s simply the most iconic of the super rare cards, but there’s at least 40.

That rarest stamp is kind of funny as it is constantly made fun of by stamp collectors as it is quite ugly and in very poor condition. The corners are missing and the stamp is very faded as many of its past owners mistreated it. For example one guy cut off three of the corners as one was already missing and he wanted it to look more uniform. Also John Dupont (famous murderer) apparently slept with the stamp under his pillow. It is an example of a stamp where the back is displayed more often then the front as every owner put their own signature/mark on the back. There was quite a bit of outcry from collectors when the last owner, Stuart Weitzman put a relatively large and somewhat obnoxious signature on the back. As a pretty serious collector I do not really care for the stamp too much and find more interest in the previous owners and how they tried to market the stamp. For example a stamp dealer bought the stamp in 1970 and put it in a suitcase that he handcuffed to his arm and travelled around to different stamp shows.
As far as rare stamps go there are quite a few other unique items and most are much cheaper. (I have one that is only worth a few hundred as mine is very obscure). Canada's rarest stamp item is also unique and sold this year for $562,875 The British Guiana 1 cent Magenta is also not the most expensive stamp item as a 1 cent Mauritius Post Office stamp on its original envelope sold for around $12 million USD in 2021.
