BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.
British Pathé also represents the Reuters historical collection, which includes more than 136,000 items from the news agencies Gaumont Graphic (1910-1932), Empire News Bulletin (1926-1930), British Paramount (1931-1957), and Gaumont British (1934-1959), as well as Visnews content from 1957 to the end of 1984. All footage can be viewed on the British Pathé website. www.britishpat...
I'm a 91 year old ,and I just missed the tragic train crash at Harrow and Wealdstone in 1952 .I was on my way to work at Rayners Lane .what we w would have done that fateful day if it wasn't for the help of the American Air Force , who were at South Ruislip, amazing effort after all this time. Thanks Yanks .good job

@@chucklittle1180 erm because not every elderly person uses chalk and a black board.
@@chucklittle1180 If a moron who can't even punctuate or spell "you" can use the internet I imagine anyone can.

@@chucklittle1180 don't be rude! He's allowed to know today's technology, no matter how old he is. Ever thought grandchildren could have taught him?!
The freaking cheery Kevin MacLeod music at the end just kills the somber mood.
I am from India and I have heard about the Mahabubnagar rail disaster from my grandfather. India have foreseen many accidents in the past like the Ghaisal Train accident of 1999...even it was deadly like anything. Fortunately the technology have upgraded now lessening the chances but the lost souls have bestowed upon huge losses on the respective families in the past.
Wow, This is great coverage thank you showing these Sad Films.
5:26 This movie isn't a Tsurumi Rail accident.
This is a video of the Mikawashima Rail accident that occurred in 1962.
The images of the Tsurumi Rail accident and the Mikawashima Rail accident are mixed.
For next month how about 'And Finally...' where you show those bizarre films that rounded off that week's news?
You guys forgot to add the Granville rail disaster (which is the worst railway disaster in Australia)
My aunt and uncle knew people who where killed in the disaster
@@scottmckellar1157 to hum kya kare

Reminds me of Roblox lol
@@chaseorna2127 Kevin Macleod reminds you of Roblox?
The part in the beginning of the video where 2 trains crashed into each other is used for a SpongeBob video!:-D

And was staged, not an accident - nevermind a fatal one
What a cheery topic.....

THE GUY AT 3:36 WITH THE ROUND SPECS AT FRONT LOOKS LIKE AUSTIN POWERS
I watched this off my playlist and this looks very sad
My father was driving his lorry over the bridge at Harrow and wealdstone when the crash happened he said he thought it was thunder the noise it made
Why wasn't Quintinns hill in this video it was much more devastating then harrow and wealdstone with over 200 dead
TheSteamdriver Probably because due to a combination of the year, the fact that film was still in its infancy and that Quintinshill is rather desolate and lonely, it's hardly likely any Footage remains, it was an awful event though.
I think this only covered civilian train crashes
Sad but true😔
What Video Was Used For The 6th wreck? I Can't Find It!
Why the first guy's left feet under the rail?
Maybe next month you guys do aviation.😉
Aviation would be a good theme for the future. However, as they have had a transport theme for this month, maybe a different area should be covered next.
AndrewofWare actually you are correct. But I still think they should do it but not next month.
guess i could say those were some real train wrecks
Of course they were, you watched footage in black and white
What are the names of the musics at #2, #3 and #6?
Steam ships and warships for march, perhaps? A military march?
What tune is playing at 1:00?
And not forgetting the Tangiwai on the north island main trunk Christmas eve ,new Zealand 1953. With the loss of life of somewhere in the vacinity of 150 lives.
*sad railfanning intensifies*
In the netherlands, we had another accident at harmelen i think, a arrive dmu hit a tractor
The next month can be music month

The final death-roll at Pomponne was 220.

Because we English language people speak English, not Dutch.
