Yeah I’m a veteran and I have less 1200 hours in total. After playing (inconsistently) for 7 years. I just like playing other stuff too, I don’t think playtime determines skill nor the latter
In fact, just because I have been playing for so long, besides muscle memory I’ve inherited battle wits.

yeah like i have around 650 hours last i checked (a couple days ago) and im nearing quad x right now, all i need is clam blitz (s+7) and splat zones (s+4), and at least 100 hours of those are in pbs
I’m not super good at the game (s and s+0 in everything besides clams which I’m 😢 b+ in) and I only have like maybe 500 hours idk probably less so the 900 seemed like a ton to me and then chara said “he’s new to the game!”

Hemmy isn't even a smurf, just talented. The only reason I shot up to A in my early levels was because of how many hours I spent in hero mode (240 if I remember correctly, never touched online) before I got online, luck, understanding of basic parts of the game and just staying in my ink. I have no explanation for Hemmy other than being talented. *_IMAGINE IF HEMMY USES STICKS OH MY GOD_*
How would hemmy be a smurf they're literally in the highest rank in the game

to add onto this, I reached 2500 last month at 700 hours, popping off at X rank before the 1k mark is honestly not that uncommon. In fact, I'd have way more faith in the x ranker with 700 hours than the one with 1.5k hours unless I have reason to believe otherwise, because the players that get high early are the ones most eager to improve, and the ones most likely to popoff.

I used to be a casual player from Splatoon 2’s launch, then abandoned it around 2019. I got back into it a couple of months ago and shot up to ~2200 X rank (from C/B/B/C-) only putting in around 100-150 more hours, so Hemmy’s story is pretty believable.
That being said, that was only because I was really determined at improving and getting competitive, so if they played the game completely casually then it’s really impressive.
I spent around 3 years in S+0, and then I switched to motions and found the weapon class for me (e.g sloshers) and got X rank. I’ve been in X for about a year now.
Yeah same I dropped this game for smash (and my friends unfortunately got me to play fortnite like hemmy) then when the direct dropped I went from a- to x in all modes and from a dark tetra main to a dynamo main without even using motion controls
Now the important question is......
Did Hemmy accept your friend request?
Ok can we talk about 6:39 for a second. Dude made 2-3 game saving plays back to back. Absolutely needed the direct on the second guy or they would have gotten the last clam needed to win

There's no meta that can make me give up my explosher or chargers. Only shooter I play is sploosh 7 just because hammer is probably my favorite special in the game

Every death he's avoiding, to a player stuck under 2200 XP (like me), is absolutely unavoidable. I don't understand how Chara manages to live through fights under any and all circumstances, even when jumping out to be directly aimed at. Even with my best weapons, I am no match.
Hearing you say 895 hours is new to the game is actually reassuring, as someone that just started im getting clowned on in C- sometimes and it can be demoralising
also im using a gamecube controller but I dont know if thats actually bad
Does the GameCube controller have motion controls at all? Not playing with motion can develop a bad habit

@@malford5301 you can typically tell if someone is playing with or without motion controls based on the fluidity of the camera. Try watching gameplay with motion (like chara) and then watching without motion (maybe yours). I'm not sure the percentage, but I can't recall any x rank streamers I've watched that don't use motion.
@@malford5301 yep, even stick players say it's better to play with motion, because it helps with quick moves without losing precision.

ProChara being surprised at how Hemmy is “new” to the game for less than 1k hours. Meanwhile I reached X Rank on every ranked mode except Clam Blitz in less than 900 hours lmao.

I played splatoon 1 a bunch, and went up to a rank but could go higher bc i broke my wii u screen and half of it was blacked out. Ever since i heard abt splatoon 2 for the switch, I desperately wanted one, finally got 1 july of last year and reached X rank in splat zones after 210 hours. I then reached quad X rank after 305 hours. I currently have 490 hours. :)

Now, of course I am an avid fan of your channel and I know that you are much, MUCH more versed in this game than I may ever be, but, well...
In your earlier videos on special design, just before Kgal was a thing iirc, you had commented that Tenta Missiles were a well made special. That because of the amount of depth to them, despite the fact that they were a global special, they were ultimately a healthily crafted weapon.
However, since Missile spam became meta I have only noticed profreshional players criticize the special instead.
I was wondering, are Tenta Missiles properly designed and just need to be nerfed/more expensive (to reduce special spam), or are they almost completely unsalvageable and better off removed entirely?

I have over 700 hours in Splatoon 2 and the only reason why I’m level 8 is because my switch with all of my data broke without any way to recover it, so I had to get a new switch. And when I played Splatoon 2 again low and behold I had everything gone, so that could be a reason
