I'm from Chile and I'm so proud that my country help in this matters of science and technologies.
Hope we may have not only the right land but also some science people to collaborate with it .
Good luck and "good aim" to the next discovery out there in space
Salute to the most beautiful people on earth; the science and technologies people.-

Shame it's only a very small percnet of a few tenths of a million people who have enough brains to understand this. Most would just sit and argue that the Earch if flat and while at it be trying to kill each other over all kinds of stupidity, "Religion etc."
At least those with some brains can work togather. I fear that ignorance is going to be humanities ruin.

It's such a shame how damned few people know that what you see with your eyes is just a very small part of the RADIO spectrum. They call it light. OK I don't care what you call it. It' s just radio that your eyes can see. So what is totally befuddling to them is that it is radio and we need to look at the other frequencies as well to learn.
Basically all Astronomy is "radio astronomy."

"Because light they observe is so weak, radio telescopes must be built on a colossal scale".
    What nonsense!
It has NOTHING to do with "weakness" (small energy of radio photons).
    Radio dishes are big because
    (1) they CAN be built big because their surface precision is much more permissive than optical scopes, meaning deformations of large mirror are not as important. For e.g. 1 GHz observations the mirror's shape can be off by a few centimeters and it still works.
Don't you think optical astronomy also wants 100m scope? Yes it does, but it's impossible to make (yet).
    (2) resolution for the same diameter depends on wavelength (longer waves - worse res). This means that e.g. a 4 meter radiotelescope would be largely useless because of poor resolution.

IMO it could just be that, YES.. we are alone as a sentient, self aware, life form, with technology. The random evolutionary quirk that gave us intelligence over brawn to survive the beasts of the wilds. We could have hundreds of trillions of life forms on billions of planets yet "we" are the only ones to build complicated tools and technology to enhance our ability to survive and adapt and expand our world. Calling alien life could be like standing in an empty zoo at night. It's teeming with life. But, nothing that can or would answer your calls and talk to you! I mean, we ARE the only life form out of millions, to develop it on our own world.
