The music video, directed by Sanji, features Amos, as a head attached to a disembodied leg, falling in love with another head attached to a disembodied arm (played by Adrien Brody). The two creatures show signs of romantic interest in one another, until the arm accidentally hurts the leg's feelings by laughing at her crooked fifth toe. The leg then flees by jumping onto a passing skateboard, and ends up alone on a deserted beach. The arm finds her and they consummate their love with a deep kiss. The act of kissing causes the arm and leg to suddenly start swelling up and grow their extra body parts-they finally become complete, "whole" humans by realizing their love

I love the video, and I know it was a creative choice; but until I bought the track itself I didn't realize how truncated the song was from the original album recording. And I think it's a shame because the whole track is SO beautiful. It makes me remember when I was younger how I would take my dad's old convertible and just drive the I805 in the early hours after midnight, and "put the hood right back where you could taste heaven perfectly."

I'm mad that I'm just now discovering that my favorite modern pianist did a music video with my favorite actor.
For those trying to interpret this video, here goes; She’s imperfect, as is he. “I pulled back the hood” means I opened up to you. “I knew then it would be a lifelong thing but, I didn’t know that we could break a silver lining.” She would always love him but didn’t think they could ruin a good thing. She believed him when he whispered in her ear “on the 101”. Making her trust him while still disguising her imperfections. “I tried to downplay it.” As they get to know one another, her secrets begin emerging & she becomes unraveled. Depicted by the shoe breaking & finally falling off. He helps her, at first, leaving her vulnerable, “exposed”. Then (innocently) mocks her insecurities, breaking her trust/heart. She hops on the skateboard and watches him as he fades into the past. The skater (Society) again laughs at her imperfections, so she hops off trying to find anything to hide them. The introduction of wearing the tube sock. Her “mask”. After some time “put the hood way back where he could taste heaven perfectly.” Means she was ready to open up again (also in a "naughty" way showing trust). Somehow, he finds her on the beach, takes off the sock & embraces her “imperfections”. Thus, apologizing by action. “I didn’t think we’d end up like this.” Accepting all of her, good & bad, with all of her faults. Reconciled, however long after the breakup. Being in love while accepting the imperfections is what makes them whole again. Past issues & society force you to figure out how to survive despite “cutting off your own limbs”. Hiding your insecurities makes you vulnerable in love & you can make the wrong choices. Even with their past & faults, their love & acceptance of e/o’s flaws makes it “a sorta fairytale”. Just my interpretation......

I heard this so many years ago, but always remembered the melody. One of those songs...Beautiful sentimental song. Adrien Brody was a nice surprise in this.
I had come here for Adrien and I thought that the video is gross when it began, but when it was over, and I realised the true meaning of the video; I realised that it's beautiful. This video isn't about an arm and leg falling in love. Its about two people with something missing in thier life who feel complete after falling in love.

MY CHILDHOOD!!! I’ve been looking for this song for YEARS!!! I’m so so so happy I finally found it again after almost 20 years hehehe.
Update: when I first heard this song back when I was 9, I felt like it was really beautiful melodically, because I was fascinated by the music video. But now that I’m 25, I can appreciate the lyrics a bit more. This song speaks to me about figuring things out when you’re in a relationship and not realizing how insecurities can change you.
