I have a Shinto Wakazashi made in around 1725. It has a hamon and Hada near the back of the blade but it fades out near the tip. One of the Japanese sword buyers said it was a ‘tired’ blade. I bought it about 30 years ago from the collection of Bob Engnath. Do you think this is something you would take on.

I'm glade I could help brother. It's very slow but its also somewhat like mediation and others told me the same. Best luck on them. The hardest part is when your at the very end stage to know how to use a gentle amount of pressure for that razor edge. Hit me up if you ever get stuck on any part.

It's not easy. I have a Japanese American friend that collects and extremely knowledgeable on nihontos that I verify with.

Is it a nihonto? I would only consider this on a nihonto if its rusting and you been denied by polishers.. I'll do what I can to help
