It just rocks my world to watch young folks reaction to hearing any Boston song! I was in a Walmart store and I saw this 14 year old kid wearing a Boston T-shirt. I’m 59 years old and said to the young man “you probably don’t even know who Boston is”. He replied “dude, that’s my favorite band” and I was like “dude! Mine too!” It makes my heart sing to see music bringing us together. Especially these days. Keep rockin sister and I’ll keep watching! Blessings

Not afraid of longer-play songs, their sound was kind of ahead of its time. Very rich and full; sounded like a bunch of folks who were all good at their individual musical disciplines who came together to make wonderful sounds. They weren't prog but sometimes you hear bits of progginess in their music. It's hard to describe this but I bet there are some others out there who will agree. So far, Boston has appeared to have become somewhat timeless and it replays exceptionally well. Play this song, Hitch a Ride, Don't Look Back, Rock and Roll Band, and some others at a party and see what happens. MANY folks will know these. Folks who've never heard will start asking..."Hey, who is this?" Often, they are surprised to hear how long ago this came out.
"sounded like a bunch of folks who were all good at their individual musical disciplines who came together to make wonderful sounds." - There were 2 musicians on the first Boston LP. Tom Sholz played all the guitars and key boards and a lot of the drums. Brad did all the vocals. The rest of the band wasn't formed until after the LP was recorded. There are many stories about the band and Tom and the ensuing legal battles that have followed Tom and the band until a few years ago.
Boston came out of nowhere with a totally new sound unlike anything we had ever heard before. I was in the 10th grade and I wore this album out. This is one of my top 5 songs of all time.

So cool seeing a young lady being able to thoroughly enjoy and appreciate music from this Boston band I grew up with... More than a feeling is one of those songs that still fires me up every time I hear it.😎
I used to work for Boston. I began working for them in 1976, and left for another job in 1979. A great bunch of guys they were. I began by moving their equipment from Van's, trucks, cars etc. to studios. I'd watch them rehearse at the "Music Complex" on Fresh Pond Parkway in Cambridge, Ma. The main guitar sound they got was from founder, lead guitarist, and just about "Mr. Everything," Tom Scholz. Tommy had an engineering degree from M.I.T. in Cambridge. He played every single instrument on that first record. But he also knew he needed a great lead singer, so that's when lead vocalist Brad Delp joined the group. Sib Hashian on drums, Fran Sheehan on bass, and Barry Goudreau on guitar. That amazing guitar sound that Tom got just perfect for the recordings, came from his enginuity and time at M.I.T. I used to help carry that computer to and from the recording studio. He called it the big "M." And it was enormous and heavy as hell! I liked everyone in that band, but lead vocalist Brad Delp was my favorite one. We just hit it off instantly. Brad was an incredible human being. So kind. An amazingly warm heart. And would do anything for anyone! Sadly, Brad took his own life back in 2007, in Atkinson, N.H. God bless you Brad, and I'm sure that Pamela's still thinking of you.
Wow man, loved that story i hope life is treatin you well and you're happy..wish i was around when it was so easy to get access/work for bands..it's all changed now besta luck sir

@@dougmcauliffe2253Walk on and Corporate America are pretty much growers instead of instant likes. some of the songs on walk on are good but corperate was all over the place and little focus with multiple vocalist and fillers. the current one life, love & hope suffered the same problem and Tom started to be the George Lucas of music with re-recording two of Corporate America's weakest tracks. the first 3 albums are masterpieces. in case you're interested. one of the guitar player from Boston Barry Goudreau has a solo album with Brad Delp on vocals in 1980. worth checking out. I think Frans Cosmos who sang on walk on album did some vocals on that album as well but I could be wrong.
Brad Delp, the singer for Boston was probably one of the most underrated singers. He was definitely the voice of Boston. R.I.P. Brad Delp. Your musuc, and presence are missed by many Boston fans.
one guy did all of the music. I mean all. Wrote, played, everything. He asked his friend to help him out and sing on his album. Did this whole album in his basement. Biggest debut album of all time. Great one for sure. Reminds me of summer.
Boston's first album was one of those rare occasions where every song is a hit. You put it on to listen to one song and you end up letting it play until you've heard them all. Then, you play it again! LOL.
Actually Boston was just one guy who did all the instrumentation he brought in the singer to sing on the songs. The Boston seen in the clips is the touring band
@@HeavyJ713 Tom Scholz is the mastermind behind Boston. All of us 50 something fans who have been there from the beginning know this. The power of his creation speaks for itself no matter who joined him on tour to play live. RIP, Bradley Delp.
They were always one of my, if not THE favorite classic rock band. I always considered the music way ahead of its time. And imagine that Tom Scholz said that when they sent the album to Epic Records they wrote him back and said there was nothing new about this music and were have no interest in publishing it... Finally, when he knew someone on the inside they got them to publish it, and still has the framed rejection letter. lol It was probably one of my favorites because I really love superb vocalists, and Brad Delp is definitely one of the greatest.
Paul Mumberson not all the instruments. He didn’t play the drums. And he didn’t do all the guitar solos or bass solos. He did MOST of the instrumentation though. Which is still impressive. Maybe 90% of the instrumentation. And he did do much of the guitar work too.he also produced the underlying tracks and wrote most of the songs
This is definitely one of the Great Musical Compositions that has kept Me Going for 45 years since it was first released, along with YES, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, Now go crank this up in a vehicle and put all the windows down and take a drive and listen to the whole album. You need to listen to music like this with speakers in a space, or vehicle with some volume, so the Highs have a place to go, and the Bass can be tweaked a bit to get the full power, from these 70's Tunes. Keep The Power Flowing.
Tom Scholz is a MIT graduate and a lot of the chimes an bell sounds are actually guitar and the devices used to create such sounds and he invented these devices and employed in his music, Brad Delp singer took his own life in 2007 it has been said he was one of the best male rock vocalist ever, RIP Brad RIP SIb Hashan.
Btw, in case anyone hasn't already pointed it out, the album cover has electric guitars that look like spaceships flying. Great reaction and good luck with your classes!
"My grandpa listened to this!" Oh, hell I feel old. My father listened to this all the time. Now that I examine it the situation, I'm convinced this is one of the greatest ever made. If it lasted that long, eventually loved yet unaltered, then we gotta winner!
His name was Tom scholz. But I'm guessing you actually knew that and it was mistyping because the fact you know a fair amount about him it sounds like.
He had a big time engineering job at Eastman-Kodak at a very young age but gave it up to make music. He designed the effect pedal that made his 🎸 sound like that.
MR BLUE SKY-- ELO MR BLUE SKY--ELO!!!!!!!! start your day with that song.... best uplifting song ever written, please react to it... would love to see your face when you hear it for the first time
Unlike a lot of songs that sound dated and reflect what was going on at the time in music, songs by Boston still sound fresh and energetic 40 years later. Basically, they're timeless.
You have the cutest reactions. I love seeing the reaction of young people of the music I grew up with. The music that made the radio the most important part of your car. LONG LIVE BOSTON.
I' m an 67 year old rocker who's favorite band is Boston. After hearing your honest and perceptive critique I would like to thank you so I subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to other reactions of brilliance from you.
As others have mentioned, this entire album was virtually impossible to escape from. Constant radio play throughout the late summer of '76 into the spring of '77, this was a MONSTER album!
I love all these people hearing Boston and other great bands from my time, and your reactions are priceless, but what you really need to do is see these bands in concert, live. There are a bunch of bands on tour right now, not Boston at the moment, but Aerosmith, Foreigner, Patty Smyth/Scandal, Heart, Joan Jett, Pat Benetar and many more. Folks these songs are awesome to listen to on your ear buds, but it'll take you to another level to experience them live in concert. I've seen Boston 5 times, 3 times in 70's, once in the 80's, and once in the 2000's. With Brad and without Brad and every one of them was awesome. I just saw Joan Jett and Heart and they were amazing. I saw Cindy Lauper and Moody Blues about 10 years ago, just fantastic. These bands are better now than back in the day. The technology to record and reproduce live music is so much better. Oh yea, just saw Rod Stewart last week it's mind blowing to me that he can still sing in his 70s. The show was awesome. Also girl what you might not know is at those highest notes Brad Delp is actually harmonizing with the guitar. I don't know a single singer that has been able to do that. (and I've got hundreds of CD's over 40 years of listening to music.) If you want to hear it isolated Rick Beato has a "What Makes This Song Great" video on this song and he pulls out just the lead guitar and Brads vocals. It's mind blowing what he does. I highly recommend it. Thanks for the vid. Hope you find my comments worthy of your time.
My favorite band, i love this band soooo much that i chose this song to play at my wedding last year, it really was "more than a feeling" :) (Married September 23, 2018)
You are the first reaction to play this song in the past year or so, haven`t seen anyone else react to this song. Your reaction was perfect, because we are meant to feel happy about music which is the theme of that song. Another great song on that same Boston album is called `ForePlyay-LongTime` you will not be disappointed at all.
What most people don't know is Brad had the flu when he recorded this song. It's said he had just thrown up in the studio's bathroom, walked out and said " let's do it". This is how it came out. Best recording ever by Boston.
It made me very happy to see someone so young appreciate this, one of the most influential bands of my life. Brad would loved to see this too, God rest his soul. If you like the high, sustained, Male vocal... try Mother, Father by Journey. Will be watching more! Welcome to the fandom!
What a joy it is for me to watch you react for the first time listening to these classic numbers. You make me smile, laugh, and sometimes cry, because you are 100% real and natural. You are, in a word, wonderful, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Don't ever leave!!!
What you got out of this tune is exactly what we got out of all of the music we listened to in that era......getting away and enjoying where music took us. Also, notice the incredible singing with NO AUTOTUNE. Nothing but talent.
One of the eventual songs he was listening to when he woke up and lost himself in reminded him of an old girlfriend named Marianne. (And I begin dreaming. 'Til I see Marianne walk away. I see my Marianne walkin' away.) Songs remind us all of certain people we were with and places we were at back in the day (good memories and sometimes bittersweet memories) when we first heard the tunes. ... This first album by Boston from 1976 is one of a handful I would take with me if I knew I was going to be stranded on a desert island for a "Long Time." :-) All the album tracks are either great or dang pretty good, something that you can't easily say about most albums. You probably don't have the time, but if you are ever just vegging or taking a long car ride, I recommend listening to the whole album from start to finish. Other fave tracks are "Peace of Mind," "Foreplay/Long Time" medley, and "Rock and Roll Band."
RIP lead singer Bradley Delp and drummer Sib Hashian. Thanks gentlemen for bring us so much joy. And thank you India for doing this video. Glad you liked this song. It was one of the mainstays of my teenage years back in the late 70's. I graduated high school in 1979 and I think it is so great that you are doing so many of these cool reaction videos. Thanks again.
Brad Delp, on the very high notes with "awayyy" goes to a D5, and when you think that's all, he takes it up to an E5! Incredible! Remember, this was the man's actual voice. It was done without computers or synthesizers and was more than twenty years before the invention of Auto Tune or any kind of pitch correction.

@K RC I wish I had. No, I only worked with them at the Complex in Cambridge...
@K RC No. That was when I was just a kid. Did some work for the J. Geils Band too back then. But after that I began training in the martial arts, and I've been an instructor for 22 years...
@@damotheman4196 Yeah Damien. I just got lucky. I happened to know their lighting crew. I worked for the J. Geils Band also...
Cool - thanks for the memories
Brad Delp could reach notes that a man is not supposed to absolutely amazing. R.I.P Brother.
I was 15 and this song played on the radio. I immediately went out and bought the album.
It's great to see young people keeping the music alive!
Hard working woman! You are good to your fans. Excellent choice to react to also. This whole album rocks. ☮️
Damn right it does. One of the best albums and bands of the 70s.
whole album rocks!!!!!!!!!
@OhMyGosh India
You will absolutely adore "Amanda" from Boston's second album ! Love you !😘
@@troymckinney2012 Love the drumming!~
@@daveortiz4481 . AMEN TO THAT. 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Every single Boston album was good all the way thru. Love them.
Didn't care for the fourth album....
Robert Chapman well put Robert I totally agree bro let's go back to them days
I love them all
I would agree except for corporate america, that album is tough to get through
@@dougmcauliffe2253Walk on and Corporate America are pretty much growers instead of instant likes. some of the songs on walk on are good but corperate was all over the place and little focus with multiple vocalist and fillers. the current one life, love & hope suffered the same problem and Tom started to be the George Lucas of music with re-recording two of Corporate America's weakest tracks. the first 3 albums are masterpieces. in case you're interested. one of the guitar player from Boston Barry Goudreau has a solo album with Brad Delp on vocals in 1980. worth checking out.
There are a whole lot of good songs on that album. I don't see too many reactions to Boston, they did a lot of excellent songs.
Boston's first album was one of those rare occasions where every song is a hit. You put it on to listen to one song and you end up letting it play until you've heard them all. Then, you play it again! LOL.
Actually Boston was just one guy who did all the instrumentation he brought in the singer to sing on the songs. The Boston seen in the clips is the touring band
like all of them....
@@HeavyJ713 Tom Scholz is the mastermind behind Boston. All of us 50 something fans who have been there from the beginning know this. The power of his creation speaks for itself no matter who joined him on tour to play live. RIP, Bradley Delp.
Ken Hasard bc they sold like 3 albums.
Listen to whole album, best debut album ever in my opinion
It was the largest selling debut so many felt the same way.
They were always one of my, if not THE favorite classic rock band. I always considered the music way ahead of its time. And imagine that Tom Scholz said that when they sent the album to Epic Records they wrote him back and said there was nothing new about this music and were have no interest in publishing it... Finally, when he knew someone on the inside they got them to publish it, and still has the framed rejection letter. lol
It was probably one of my favorites because I really love superb vocalists, and Brad Delp is definitely one of the greatest.
I like the album and Hendrix's debut album was fantastic as well.
Loved your reaction. You just heard the best gitarist and vocalist.
One of my all time favorite songs from one of the greatest bands ever-Boston.
I’ve heard this song over 1,000 times. I’ve never changed the station when it came on. Can’t say that about too many other songs.
Coming from a 50 year old man girlfriend that there is rock and roll
I don't know why but it makes me so happy to see you react to a song I have loved for such a long time. Keep up the great wok!
This is the kind of song you turned up full blast while you were driving with the windows down and sing every note! It made everything okay
This whole album is packed with great tracks, rock and roll band, foreplay/long time, take you home tonight....all excellent
Boston - 'Foreplay/Long Time' is a masterpiece
The whole album is amazing and must be heard by every music lover ❤
Boston...'Don't Look Back'! Changed my life musically when I was 8.
Tom Scholz wrote and played every instrument on the first Boston album. A true musical genius
Very talented guy! I read that story and it’s so awesome! Great album!!
@@johnr8095 And he made a little guitar amp like the walkman that I had in the 80s.
And he recorded it in --- HIS BASEMENT.
Not bad for a basement recording?
This is definitely one of the Great Musical Compositions that has kept Me Going for 45 years since it was first released, along with YES, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin,
Now go crank this up in a vehicle and put all the windows down and take a drive and listen to the whole album. You need to listen to music like this with speakers in a space, or vehicle
with some volume, so the Highs have a place to go, and the Bass can be tweaked a bit to get the full power, from these 70's Tunes. Keep The Power Flowing.
Here's some suggestions pick most of the hits
ELO
Kansas
Supertramp
Peter Frampton
Lover boy
Styx
Tom Scholz is a MIT graduate and a lot of the chimes an bell sounds are actually guitar and the devices used to create such sounds and he invented these devices and employed in his music, Brad Delp singer took his own life in 2007 it has been said he was one of the best male rock vocalist ever, RIP Brad RIP SIb Hashan.
Classic! One of the Best Bands ever! RIP Brad Delp, what a voice he was, thanks to recording we can always enjoy his voice.
Btw, in case anyone hasn't already pointed it out, the album cover has electric guitars that look like spaceships flying. Great reaction and good luck with your classes!
Notice the Earth exploding in the background.
I was today years old when I saw this!
Never knew that
Shit...I bought this album when it was first released and I've never noticed the guitar. I'm stunned.
The guitarist went to MIT and invented the guitar pedals that he used. He was a genius.
Love how the last notes of his singing are sustained and Blend into guitar feedback in the fade out. So well produced.
Brings back so many memories too, from the 70's the best time in life :)
thank you so much OMG India for playing my request, and I also happen to be a Grampa....keep em coming dear.Yo'ure Awesome!
"My grandpa listened to this!"
Oh, hell I feel old. My father listened to this all the time.
Now that I examine it the situation, I'm convinced this is one of the greatest ever made. If it lasted that long, eventually loved yet unaltered, then we gotta winner!
Tom Shops made the album in his basement. Wrote songs, played all instruments except leed vocal. Was a MIT graduate, Masters in engineering.
AND only played guitar for 2 years!!!!
Didn’t play drums. That was Jim Masdea initially, then Sib Hashian took over and the drums were redone.
It is More Than A Feeling, it's an experience!
Baby Boomer here.Love your reactions!! Had this album in 1978. Yikes!!😎😆
Born in '77 here. Grew up listening to this and so many other great songs from this era. Thank you, Dad! I miss you!
MR BLUE SKY-- ELO MR BLUE SKY--ELO!!!!!!!! start your day with that song.... best uplifting song ever written, please react to it... would love to see your face when you hear it for the first time
This song came out in 1976 in my high school days. In this album every song was a hit.
R.I.P Brad Delp one of the greatest most underrated front men ever . Boston ROCKS
#5 top selling rock album all time
Unlike a lot of songs that sound dated and reflect what was going on at the time in music, songs by Boston still sound fresh and energetic 40 years later. Basically, they're timeless.
You have the cutest reactions. I love seeing the reaction of young people of the music I grew up with. The music that made the radio the most important part of your car. LONG LIVE BOSTON.
So happy for you to discover Boston:-)
Rip Delp 2007 love that More than a feeling Classic
Agreed
I' m an 67 year old rocker who's favorite band is Boston. After hearing your honest and perceptive critique I would like to thank you so I subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to other reactions of brilliance from you.
As others have mentioned, this entire album was virtually impossible to escape from. Constant radio play throughout the late summer of '76 into the spring of '77, this was a MONSTER album!
Boston is one of my all time favorites. Love Every thing they have done.
Great song, great band, great vibe!
Thank you means a lot!
OhMyGosh India Anytime my dear.
That's why I love rock concerts! Guitar and drum solos. Not one singer ands twenty backup dancers.
My favorite band, i love this band soooo much that i chose this song to play at my wedding last year, it really was "more than a feeling" :)
(Married September 23, 2018)
Interesting, mine was Amanda when I married in at age 23 '87. Sadly after 31 years of blissful marriage, my wife passed away from cancer in Sept '18.
Sorry for your loss. Condolences, i hope that your life with your wife was fulfilling
@@donaldblevins5028 it was. Thank you. She was a wonderful woman.
This band was so incredible in concert. Great vocals and 5 guitarists on stage, Good review
thats my top 1 favorite song by them
What a joy it is for me to watch you react for the first time listening to these classic numbers.
Girl you gotta clap during the chorus, or hook lol. Saw Boston in concert years before the singer died. Loved it. Was such a fun concert.
Yes , India this is music real music I'm so glad you Like it ! Blessings to you my Dear.
Oldie but goodie!!!
Mote than a feeling is a classic. One of the most played songs on the radio.
I love seeing the musical revolution of the mind and heart, it's amazing
