    Soft boards...are just for fun...or the kids...or beginner's...and this is the Catch Surf Odysea Log Soft Surfboard Review!
    Catch Surf soft boards are all the rage and this 6'0 beast is my pseudo-longboard killer for when the waves are best between the flags (Aussie Summer) or when it's tiny and I just want to have a bit of fun!
    These Catch Surf softlites are NOT serious surf craft but you can still turn them and softies have a lot more structural integrity than they used to.
    Hope you dig this Catch Surf Odysea Log Soft Surfboard Review for Compare Surfboards...go and get yourself one for Summer!
    All the best,
    Benny

    Catch Surf are blurring the lines between all forms of surfing, short boarding, body boarding, long boarding etc. The ultimate waterman is someone who enjoys them all in the conditions best suited for each craft.

    This board deserves a real review. For it's size, it's actually very maneuverable and fast. It's fantastic in small, weak, crumbly waves, but, once you get used to it, any maneuver is possible in up to chest high waves.

    Great review. I have 6'6 Ocean and Earth Grommy model. I bought for the kids. But I mostly ride it on shoreys and small to tiny waves instead of a Longboard. So much fun. Actually ridiculously fun. Mine is almost dead after many seasons. Will replace with a catch surf log. Might even go for the 7'0 to have it like a mid length board. Best board investment I have ever made.

    Hi Benny. As a parent myself I'm totally with you. We need more reviews on these kind of products. I'm looking for a foamie for the kids at the moment and this review really helps.
    Keep up the good work brother.

    Thanks adding this. I don't know if it was in response to my comment from a few weeks ago but thanks anyway.
    Ps you could have added a bit more description of what it's like to surf and how you may have adapted to its differences.

    Got the 7’0. Surf it all the time, absolute wave catching machine and a heap of fun to ride (all things considered).
    Totally agree about the triple stringers in Catch Surf boards, it make a difference if you’re a heavier guy (like me).

    Great review. Been looking for one of these to mess around on in the Redondo Beach surf. Would love to see an overview video of all the catch surf boards and what each one if good for. Subscribed. :-)

      looks perfect for redondo/PV should help with the paddle out significantly compared to a shortie

    You should do some reviews on other soft tops. Are there ones that experienced surfers might enjoy riding? Ones that can actually turn, for instance?

    In my opinion anyone should have one of these boards just for when the waves are a bit smaller and weaker. I personally surf a short board and find i can do shortboard style menoevers and the board has actually helped me with certain tricks such as floaters. Really recommend getting one

    I’ve owned 3 catch surf boards, a stump, a beater and now a 5’5 RNF. they are all beyond fun. The RNF is my favorite, its short with a lot of volume but surfs really easy, and it has concave lol, weird for a softtop but helps.

    • @Comparesurfboards

    Hey Benny, totally agree with you about the softies 😂, I know they got 2 smaller ones the stump and the 54 special. I think I'm same size as you and a review would really help because I want to go smallest but I would like to hear your opinion.

    Ok so my first board at 20 years old was a 6’4” CI OG Flyer. Ate it a lot but got really good at paddling and duck diving. Thing is I’m 6’2” and weigh 220. Then I thought ok well I can’t even stand on this thing because the minute I pop up the board sinks under me. So I got a Pyzel gremlin 6’4” but it had like 47L so it’s got more volume. A lot easier to paddle but I haven’t caught many waves. So now I’m looking at getting a 7’ log and once I get my pop up and everything straight I guess hop back on the gremlin. Thoughts??

      True, I've had some super fun sessions on the 6'0 in weak, crumbly, thigh high waves, were I was doing little foam climb/lipper's all the way to the beach.

  • @davidhowardkiwisurfer3997

    Does anyone know how the 6'0 Log compares to the 6'0 Skipper?

    • @dirttherapyaus
      @dirttherapyaus Před rokem

      Have both. The skipper you can duck dive, the log you cannot (well almost can but 57L its pretty difficult)

    Catch surf logs and planks kick ass they are fun as hell, super affordable and you can run em over rocks and into sand and then toss em in the back of your truck when your done.

    Thinking about getting one of these to learn on but idk if it'll be big enough or what... Coming from a skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding background so I know I'll pick it up relatively quickly but im also 6ft 190-195lbs. Want something that wont be tooo hard to learn on but also not be huge where I want to get rid of it for something smaller in a couple months

      It’s probably too late now, lol, but even though these boards aren’t known for their turning prowess, they are pretty capable depending on your skill set. If maneuverability is what your looking for, go for the 6’0 log, or another board in the catch surf lineup, or heck, research for a while and you’ll find something.keep in mind, it’s where you are in surfing that will influence your decision the most. 🤙

    • @taradead
      @taradead Před 3 lety

      Yes, the 6'0 turns very well. The turns are flatter (not deep rail carves), but you can definitely do a legit roundhouse on it. Actually, once you get it wired, you can do just about any maneuver on it.

    Had an 8' Catch surf for few months. Tried everything I could to like it but it felt really mediocre all around and lost interest in it really fast
    It was easy to catch green waves with but took some real skills to actually trim or direct the board properly, freaking oversized pillow
    All 3 beginners I lent it to thought it was overly floaty and much harder to learn in white wash than with a Torq 8' epoxy board. They all hated the Catch surf and all fought for the epoxy board
    Quality felt mediocre too as the seams started tearing after just a few sessions!
    Meh..
