Top 10 Awpers in CS History (#10-6)
Created by Austin Townley
Released: November 28, 2012
Special thanks to Josh Geha, and the countless number of people I consulted with to make this list as accurate and unbiased as possible. As with any list of this sort, there are endless opinions and variations of rankings. If your personal favorite wasn't #1, don't sweat. I welcome your constructive feedback or personal rankings, and more so truly thrive on them as those discussions are the driving force behind my videos.

Additional notes.
#10 Johnny R - Given that this is the final spot on the list, it could have gone to any number of players not included in the top ten. Ksharp, Friis, Fallen, Lex, Vilden and others were considered, however, none really stood out enough to usurp this legendary name. Hyb, who was featured in the trailer, was never seriously considered for the top ten.
#9 Sunde - A true all-around player, his AWP ability can't be denied. After becoming the primary AWPer for mTw, the team had a historical 2008 season, winning five events, including WCG, and becoming the #1 team in the world. His time at the top was spectacular and unfortunately brief.
#8 Walle - This will likely be the most controversial ranking. Just a few years ago the users on HLTV.org voted him the best AWPer of the decade. While certainly talented, the evidence is undeniably against him as he never won a major championship, often committing costly errors late in tournaments. One very clear memory is his AWP failing him versus JMC (Jax Money Crew) at CPL Winter 2005, ending the tournament for NiP. Walle was a gifted player, capable of brilliance and deserving of high regard, but any higher than this feels wrong given the inconsistency and inability to win the big one.
#7 KK - Maybe the most underrated AWPer of all time. His name is regularly omitted in best AWPer discussions, despite the prowess he's shown with the gun. He (and wHimp) basically carried The Titans to ESWC gold in 2004. Although he mostly competed with runner up Danish teams after this, he displayed many dominating performances at large events with All The Rage and Gravitas Gaming. He was one of many players who stepped away from the rigors of top level cs for school, and we maybe never got to see how good KK could have been.
#6 Delpan - The most difficult type of player to rank. Dominating but with a short career at the very top. It's hard to weigh the talent he's shown versus his accomplishments, but it's worth noting that SK improved after he was brought in to be their primary AWPer, having their best results since 2005. If the game had lasted another year, we very likely could have seen this name rise. - Hry
thank god you didnt forget Johnny R. But I gotta say Ksharp shoulda have been in the top10 considering hes the first real amazing awper in CS history. When Heaton says he scared of him back in the days, means alot
Yeah, I don't get what is with this guy's problem is w/ Ksharp but he was the most notable AWPer at that time. Anyone who competed or spectated CS back then, knew this. When someone can just secure kills with (an AWP) bodyshots but insist on landing headshots, which he gradually began to do, you know he is special.
Mainly this guy chose the list with other cs/esports journalists, experts and historians. He did made a point of leaving ksharp mainly because he mostly use it in online matches rather than lan but still you can’t deny the fact he along with the Swedish player HyB and Vesalan were one of the first pioneers of the awp
dude I love your commentary on these videos, the tone of your voice is perfect. The production is awesome and the nostalgia I'm feeling is unreal
he sounds like the biggest nerd
awesome videos man! just saw your top 50 players in cs history too, and I can't compliment you enough for recognizing the beast that KK was with the awp.
Nice video. Can't wait for the next part. Wish your videos weren't so widely spaced. They are always informed and interesting.
This is awesome
"Johnny R...still did enough on LAN to squeak by Ksharp for our final spot on this list." Unintentional Mousesports pun. Excellent.
+hppy how come?
Mice squeak.
JOHNNY R IS A FUCKING LEGEND, THE BEST AWP EVER !
Yea,but hes been away for too long,I dont even know if he still got the skills
he d be atleast decent amongst global elites even if he d only play totally casually and occasionally. skills like that not really fading
My top 5 is fRoD, shaGuar, Johnny R, Ksharp, markeloff. Not in any particular order...
In my opinion lacked some players on this list ... vilden (SK), fallen (coL, fg, playArt ...), kabal (*aAa*), pasha and luq (ESC, Pentagram...) without forgetting the cyx (mousesports), #RIP.
tbh they are not on the same lvl as ksharp even tho i would say cyx should be on the list instead of kk, kk reaction isn't that great cyx was much better but meh it is just an online video made by random dude who loves cs lets just show him some support :P
It this list was made now, KennyS would be on it.

Walrus a few good shots dont make a top10 alltime awper.

Sunde behind Delpan?!?!? Good videos btw
Really? No LUq?
nothing cant be worse than your "top 10 clutches in CS history" gonna give it a try :D
johnny r,the first god of awpers and you just put him at no.10, can't believe it, good job dude
He explains why he put him nr.10.. And it's a pretty good reason..
Mark Jørgensen It is "a reason" not sure about good or not. Every guy back then was messing w/ that setting. Still a damn good awper.
aAa kabal ?
where`s sedan?
vilden ?
Sk-delpan,fallen,markeloff,cogu,dsn,karrigen,frod,pasha,luq and walle
This is also best awp players in cs history
...please make one more videos for all the best awp players
lol@ the ksharp part saying he didnt do much on lan hahaha
Please song in the beginning
That hitbox
Where is Luq?
sunde is unreal noone was/is as fast as him imo
Where is kvicken? :(
JOHNNY R 4 EVER
song please
So...does Markeloff's Awp in GO seem a bit low, or is it just me? O.o
WHERE IS LUq?!!
Can someone explain me wtf was happen at 1:23? Is this mofa blind or something?
htlv bug, there was a smoke on stairs ( you can still see the nade on the ground)
What about FYR773?
Delpan is a big BOSS!
where is Karrigan?
no FalleN? that's a pretty glaring omission, no?
***** He was good enough to rip fRoD in all their match-ups. Also, he always top fragged vs elite teams, even if his team was getting destroyed. So he may have not accomplished anything, but it definitely wasn't because he wasn't talented. Check out one of his demos, the guy was nuts.
wtfarockfish dont care about austintownley dont know anything about this game or its meta :)
Thankfully, he will be regarded as one of the best in the next version (if austintownly decides to make a new one, that is).
@@wtfarockfish good that fallen got the recognition he deserves in csgo
I think that the next five will be : friis, dsn , cogu , fallen and markeloff.
are you serious putting johnny r at 10?
Leave out KSharp for the same reasons Walle is #8? Too bad this video and ranking isn't consistant. KSharp was the first head turning AWPer in CS.
ksharp was good, but search about markeloff
*****
I was brazilian champion in 2004 in final against GC, that had fnx, btt and bit, that were in mibr after that.
I know what I'm saying ;)
***** Markeloff was twice as good than ksharp ever was. Probably fell into a troll, but w/e. Also shaguar shouldn't be in top 5, because there were more europeans ahead of him. fRoD earned his spot though, like cogu.
Right on the money about Miller. Not only was he the first, his reaction time was impeccable. (I don't know what this guy means that he didn't perform well on LAN. I saw a lot of 3D tourneys on HLTV where he performed well.)
chesmaster2ky He wasnt using the AWP that much on LAN, especially in the end of his career he would essentially use rifle, just like walle. But I do agree that Ksharp should def be in the top10. I think Delpan is the one that shouldnt be on the list imo
what about hellzerk?
What about Montrey from die hard ? his team wasn't very competitive in big stage but still he had a great kill
he is no way near of all them
Montrey actually WH'ed.
Omg, what is he talking about? Sunde wasn't even that fast?
What about luq?
luq ?
Ksharp was the best you're wrong
+Robert Gowdey yes againts OTHER north amarican teams
guessing frod, shaguar, dsn, markeloff, cogu.. no particular order :D
where is cyx and solo??
Dafuq are you talknig about dude? Seriously... voice is awesome.. gets better in part 2 though, great job man keep it up! :D
What about pasha?
vilden????
много са тъпи брат, вилден е н1.
i miss cyx!!!
i think walle deserves 5th-4th place because since he joined SK he was not a top awper anymore but before of that he was a beast man.. when he was in NiP, spiXel and 1.5 times..
wher is the luq ???
Pasha definitely deserved to be in this video
Don't know why he's not there
Delpan
1.Walle, 2.Delpan, 3. KSharp :))
where is LUQ ?
lolz johnny R 10th, were you even born when he was around ? like ranking potti 3rd in the top50, what about chucky, vesslan, knoxville, legenden, the real neo not the polish one, kikooo, da bears, scream the real one not the belgium faker, and many more
Not putting hpx(KK instead) in top10 is shame.
Would personally definitely have walle in my top3.
markeloff
walle
dsn
no doubt.
Markeloff?
Delpan
8 WALLE?, U ARE CRAZY
Where is Pasha?
i expected ksharp to be top 10, but i can agree with the reasoning... but no jungle..? the guy deserves honorable mention at least
LUQ ???
1:5 awp with croshair please
where is SeDaN ? :(
Where is Pasha Biceps "?:D
And markeloff ?
I believe this is due to ksharp notoriously having a poor ISP throughout his career. 100+ latency guarantees the choice of awp.
What about sixer
kk is one of the best :P
Missing Ksharp, Fisker, SpawN and obviously RWA =) Plus that norwegian I can't remeber the name of.
ElemenT? XeqtR?
yeah =)
where's LUQ
0:33 wall actived
I think i've been battle with Delpan and markeloff :/
Kenny S # -1
If you do more videos try to improve the clarity of the narration (speak a more clearly and mix it better). Regarding the video itself I don't like seeing Delpan on there, he'll always be a cheater in my eyes.
Since this top 10 is about best AWPers in CS history / AWP legends, in other words awpers that will be remembered forever, your top 5 should have markeloff cogu luq dsn and shaguar in it:) even tho vilden Friis and pasha could fit in aswell.
Cogu? Colon? oh man
That's a decent list but my feeling is that Frod is way too high. He was a beast in 1.6, but he wasn't even in the scene when some other guys like Xeqtr and Fisker were already beasting in 1.3 and 1.5.
walle is way too low. He is a top 3 awper quite comfortably.
Fallen should have been on this list btw.
dariel is missing. best awp award esl pro series 2008-2011 ;D
Prophet?
how about Solo? he one of the few Asian CS player who are on the level of the teams int he world such as fnatic.
Walle 8 and delpan 6 ?!!
where LUq, NEO i cYx ?
Rwa is missing ;) ....
Foxj no place for him?
DEEEEELPAAAN BEST AWPER EVEEER
Xeqr, FalleN, fisker, vilden, RWA, ksharp...
delpan should be in top 3
walle wh!!?
vilden ....
Walle is at no 8??😞
Walle in 8°???
1:24 How come
WHERE IS FOXJ !!!
I really love sk gaming team
Sk delpan,roban,get_right,forest,face
Amazing team.....
I hate to be that guy, but you claimed the best in CS History yet you seem to have only referenced cs 1.6. Now I love 1.6 and agree it was the golden age of CS but Referencing source would have been a way to add atleast one more person on the list. Ksharp did great in source with the awp using it over the rifles if my memory is correct, and NickN0it would have fit well as well.
WAlle #8??????
Johnny R. is AWP god, how can he at Rank 10?
WOW, vilden deserves to be in top 3 and he is not even mentioned here .. WTF
